Once I managed to rip all of the women off of me, I followed the direction I saw May fly to so I could give her a piece of my mind. I looked for her for a while and was about to give up when I noticed a spot of pink in the corner of my eye. I turned and saw May sitting on her knees with her back to me behind a boulder, and I walked up to her angrily. "Hey! Thanks to you, I got groped thirty times in thirty seconds! Why the hell did you just-?!" I stopped myself at the sight of her.
She wasn't moving at all as she sat there, and her head was slightly bowed. Both her wings and her ears were drooped and I didn't know how to process seeing her like that. I then walked up to sit next to her and I was even more freaked out when I saw her face. She was looking at the ground sadly and her eyes were glossy. She didn't even look at me as I sat down next to her. "What's gotten into you? Why aren't you brightly colored anymore and annoying me with endless mushy words of positivity?"
She waited a few moments to respond, and when she did her words were filled with sadness. "I was going to marry him..." She spoke quietly and tears then started to fall down her face. She started crying and put her face in her hands. By this point, I was so freaked out I couldn't help but yell my next sentence. "Hey! Why is your face doing that?! Stop it!" She didn't stop or say anything and continued to cry.
I had no idea what to do and sat there blankly. 'What the hell is happening?! How do I get her to stop doing that and freaking me out?! Let's see, maybe there's an answer in one of the pointless lessons she taught me... Lesson number two, saying sorry can go a long way. Hm, it might be worth a shot.' I realized that I had never apologized in my life before this and felt even more awkward attempting to do it. I then patted her back with my hand as stiff as possible and forced the words out of my mouth. "I'm s-o-sorry..."
She removed her hands from her face and her eyes went to me for a second before returning to the ground. She hugged her arms as she bowed her head lower and sobbed quietly. I crossed my arms while trying to think of something else. I then noticed the small bag of sparkles tied around her waist, so I quickly snatched it and stood up. She turned to look up at me both confused and surprised. "What are you-?!" I didn't let her finish before reaching into the bag and throwing a handful at her face. "The power of sparkles compels you!"
The light poof of glitter surrounded her and she started to sneeze uncontrollably. I laughed. "Now you know how it feels whenever you do that to me! Haha!" She then stood up and wiped the glitter from her face with an irritated expression. I avoided her gaze and my smile dropped. "Okay, I admit I've had better ideas..." The corner of her mouth then lifted in a small smile, and she laughed a little as she wiped her tears away. "I told you it still works though." My smile returned and she then gave me a suspicious look. "Did you actually say sorry without me telling you to?"
I avoided her gaze again and my eyebrows furrowed. "I really want to leave, okay?!" Just then I heard someone calling "CherryMay!" who didn't share the same voice as her father or brother. We both walked out from behind the boulder to see who it was, and May's expression became unreadable once we saw them. Damien was there, flying and looking around for her. Once he spotted us he smiled and he came over to hug May tightly.
"CherryMay! Your father told me you were back. Why didn't you come and see me?" He then pulled out of the hug, realizing that she didn't hug him back, and his smile became confused. "What's wrong CherryBerry? Is that, glitter in your hair...?" I wanted to puke at both the nickname he gave her and the playfulness in his tone. May then pushed his arms away from her and I was very intrigued at the fact that I hadn't seen May angry before.
Damien's face only filled with more confusion and May glared at him. "I did come and see you. And I saw. Everything." Damien realized what she meant by that, and waited a moment before putting his hands on his hips while shaking his head slightly. He said nothing as he avoided looking at her, and May held her glare despite more tears running down her cheeks. "We're done here. But before we go our separate ways, I have to know. Why? Why am I not enough for you? What does she have that I don't?"
He then sighed and finally looked at her. "...She's a woman. Come on CherryMay, fairies have their reputation of friendliness, but how you act is just ridiculous. Going far and wide to help people? Wouldn't dare to hurt a fly let alone an inanimate object? Carrying a bag of sparkles wherever you go? You're such a child. A little girl." He then crossed his arms and returned her glare. "Not to mention your legs are chained together tighter than the Keeper's keep."
A thought then crossed my mind before I fully processed what he said. 'Keeper's keep? That is the stupidest name ever-! Wait, what did he say?!' Normally, I wouldn't care about other people's drama and even admire such cruelty, but for some reason, I was really going to chop his head off right now. I started to draw my sword, but before I could remove it from its sheath May punched him in the face with so much force he flew back into the tree behind him. "AH!"
I then felt a surge of pride and returned my sword as I made a fist with my other hand. "YES!! Release the asshole within!!" Blood now covered his nose and lip, and he felt it with his hand before looking at her in complete shock. May looked at her hand which was also bloody in surprise, and a big smile spread across her face. "Oh my gosh, I punched someone! I can't believe it! I punched someone!! Dedrin! How did I do?!" I gave her an enthusiastic high-five. "Excellent form!! I knew you had rage inside you!"
Her usual cheerfulness had returned, and she became colorful again and flew in the air as she bounced. "This calls for celebration! Let's go get smoothies! Come on Dedrin!" She grabbed my arm again and started to pull me in the direction she was flying. "After I fix my hand!" In the split second before we left, I found myself making eye contact with Damien. He was still staring in shock, and I couldn't help but smirk at him as I walked away. 'That was the last thing you expected her to do, wasn't it?'
