Chereads / In A Game As A Blood Mage / Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

…...

'The only person who would do something in this city and gain something from this would be… The Mage of Gungai City… Robert, the man who is best friends with the city mayor.' Concludes Alex, he knew the man quite a lot from his past life. He was the mage who came with the strategy to hire players to deal with the other players as only they were able to tell when someone else was a fellow player.

'This is bad… really bad. If that guy actually has his eyes on me… this will start becoming a dangerous situation. He will definitely be curious how a six-year-old was able to deal with a Rank 2 Stray Vampire, that Alex assumes that Robert most likely created himself. Creating Vampires isn't exactly hard for a mage or anything like that.

'By the time Version One comes about then he will achieve Rank 4 actually.' Contemplates Alex, he knows that unlike the Dwarf, Robert is a whole different type of monster to deal with.

But thankfully, Alex assumes that as a mage with his personality, Robert will keep himself hidden till the end. The man is as cautious as they come, and if Alex didn't personally know the man he would assume why he would create panic in his city? He would be the last person in his mind to do this.

'Sh*t, then this means that he will send even more creatures after me to test me.' Finalizes Alex, his thoughts being all finished in a split second, he already starts thinking about the countermeasures he should take against this man. He knows that if he stays in the Magic Academy Mansion, then even Robert wouldn't dare do anything as if he does that then he will be under investigation from the Magic Academy. 'Still though… I can't stop my growth because of this. I can only start my own plans on how to deal with this situation. It would be safe to assume that he knows that I already killed the Blood Cult and the dwarf, that would make me look bad but I must assume the worst-case situation first. But at the same time, I am 99% sure he won't confront me because he thinks that I don't know that he is behind this.'

Alex's assumptions are based on common sense, as the wizard couldn't just come out and attack him for no reason in public. But now he has learned his lesson now, he won't be staying out at night now that is for sure. His knowledge of Robert's cautious personality has him now create a plan on how he should take advantage of this. Alex also plans to make use of this to maybe get some more exp by killing the creatures the man will send after him.

Ales finally enters the Merchant Guild Branch Manager's office. He sees that William wasn't acting like he was writing this time.

William looks at Alex and asks him. "Did you finish it?"

William obviously understood during the first meeting that Alex knew something about the rat infestation that he didn't say. So he assumed that he came to the Merchant Guild to get some money as he finishes this job.

"Yeah." Says Alex as he takes out the ratman's head and drops it on the table. "Ex-slave, most likely possibility."

William nods at this and takes out from under his desk, it is a golden color card with a 15,000 number written on it in bold letters. This is in a way like a prepaid credit card, Magic Academy uses these cards mostly too as carrying thousands of Gold Coins is useless and takes too much space, even in a storage sack. This is more efficient than carrying around money too, though most shops in Gungai City don't accept payment by cards as they don't have the magic items to have a card examiner and withdrawal methods.

"Here it is your full reward. The Merchant guild hopes for more mutually beneficial deals like this." Says William with his voice being fully professional even while dealing with a six-year-old like Alex.

Alex takes the card and thanks him too. "Thank you too. I will remember this from the Merchant Guild."

They both know that he is just saying flowery words. Neither of them is thankful for the other about anything. They did a mutually beneficial deal so that is all that there is to it. Alex then just walks outside of the office…

….

As soon as Alex is outside of his office William frowns a little. He gets up from his chair with a sigh and pours himself a glass of wine as he goes to a small beverage table at the side of the room. 'That kid is smart. Way too smart for his age… and that is suspicious… too suspicious.'

'No wonder Robert is interested in the kid, he is special that is for sure. Though his heritage doesn't seem to be as the background check I did come out as him being only the soon of two normal farmers.' Contemplates William, his opinion of Alex changing. 'I wonder how useful he can be.'

….

Alex does not know these events as he just goes towards the Magic Academy Mansion and thankfully the guard lets him in without questions this time.

..

He just goes to his room and as he enters he can immediately sense the Ki in the room. He looks to his bed and he sees Lily meditating while gathering Ki and spreading it in the room so she can make a room a more friendly environment with her Ki.

Alex doesn't mind any of this and he just goes to sit on his chair. "So you are trying to break through to Rank 2?"

Lily shakes her head at this. "No, not yet. I wanna prepare first before trying."

Alex shrugs at this uncaringly. He knows that Lily was already at the peak of Rank 1 when she met him. Plus she had no teacher or Ki Cultivation method back then so that was impressive for her.

'Talent…' Ponders Alex as his gaze on Lily intensifies. 'So-called heaven-defying talent and luck. That is what heroes are, men and women who also have an extremely high chance of reaching Legendary Rank.'

Though even with all that, the number of heroes who have died through history is still greater than those who have reached Legend Rank. A hero can survive situations where any normal person would die a hundred times over, but when a hero bites more than it can chew… it will end up dead below the dirt and that is all that there is to it. Heroes are relatively tame to some terrifying monsters with even more terrifying abilities that exist in this world.

'The Game Interface is nothing in comparison to that.' Thinks Alex, his body sweating in nervousness just thinking that he could meet creatures like that in the future. He then looks at Lily and contemplates. 'For her ignorance is truly a bliss. With my knowledge of the world, how could I ever attempt to be anything less but the strongest.'

On the other hand, Lily opens her eyes slightly and sees the contemplating look on Alex's face. 'What does that look even mean?'

….

AUTHOR NOTE:

As we can see mages are cautious as fu*k on this. Thankfully the MC has future knowledge or he would have been completely tricked.

P.S: The success of my other story is kinda fu*king me over... I don't have a lot of free time to write now that college has started getting more serious.

P.P.S: This story is on Patreòn, but at the moment there is only one chapter in advance. I plan to write more of that in the future.👍
