"What do you mean that it doesn't matter? What doesn't matter, Eve?" Carter's voice was marked with rigidity.
"It doesn't matter what you are or what do you consume. Your answer won't change anything now. It's too late."
"Don't say that it's too late, Eve. You can still back out. You can still run. If you choose to leave, I promise I will not go towards the same path. I will set you free."
I shook my head. "I don't understand. You just told me a while ago that you feel so much for me, but why is it so easy for you to say that you will set me free just like that? Why do you sound like you are just waiting for me to wake up from my nonsense and run away from you?"
"I am only giving you a choice, Eve. If you stay, then I stay. If you leave, then I will let you. I don't want you to be locked on this thinking that you are responsible for what I feel."
