"It was nice of Dr. Lambert to pack some food for me but it would have been better, if he also could have given me a can opener for the beans".
5 hours since today's time travel trials. My time like little grains of sand was running out and I still had a long distance to cover for now. After a rushing two hours, I was in front of Archon, the main doors locked and fingerprint reader disabled for it was still
5 am in the morning. I went ahead into a quite funky bar 'The Neon Zone Night Club' fully empty and just a jumpy bartender. "Right on time, my man. Welcome to the hippiest joint in town. Now say what can this ol' Cedric get you? "A beer, I guess?"! "A beer? A BEER! You embarrassin' me here,
bub! I got university degrees in mixonomy and mixology. I mix mojitos' for the Gods!" "Just a beer, please!" "Man you really goin' with that, ain't you? Alright, that'll be a dollar". "A DOLLAR?! Jeez' you sure weren't joking around when you said the high class joint in town". "Look kid, I don't jack up the prices...you want that beer, you pay a dollar.
Now are you gonna pay for that or what?" "I think I forgot my wallet in the van... I'll be right back!" The bartender nodded and went back to wiping those champagne glasses and I rushed back to the van. After all this tiring trip, I needed some sort of relaxation so I opened the van's dashboard and took out some bucks from there. After all Dr. Lambert can afford this as a small price for the retribution of our city.
"So I've changed my mind! For the money here, give me one of the fanciest drinks you've got". "Alright, so a challenge, huh? Ok, I'll bite. Prepare... to be dazzled, kid!" He turned back and started mixing some cocktails and drinks. I started looking through the bar interior when I saw a solar light lamp. I quietly switched that on for the moment that bartender was busy in his mixing and that device pulsated again. I pressed that button and I was once again forty years ahead and the bar was flooded with water of some sort. "Whoah! That's cold and quite dirty also..." I saw one more skeleton which could be a policeman with a pistol in its hand. It was a rusty revolver with I think 3 or 4 shots in it. The device was running out of power quickly. Before I get deadlocked here for an hour or so, I pressed back again and hid that pistol in my backpocket. "Ok man, one rainbow frosted, hot lava slushy deluxe - with a little gin syrup comin' right up! You can let the drink rest for a while and have the layers settled for that smooth sensation or you could have it right away and blow your tastebuds with sheer dee-light!" He put that
glass on the counter and went back to his wiping those other glasses. I took a sip out of it and oh' man, it was like riding a sidecar
with a unicorn down a mountain of those cashmere sweaters! In a little state of dizziness, I went back to the front part of Archon. The sun had already risen and my device was recharged once again and this time completely. I again switched forth time and found a large gaping hall in front of the Archon building in the future which was now looking like one of those old malls closed long ago. I carefully went down using a tied rope on a parking meter. There was water flowing nearby giving a faint sewer smell with a subway train all rusted and damaged. There was also a grill ahead. I tried opening it but that grill was bolted shut. I switched back time and in the present, that grill was unbolted. The condition of this place was now much better than before. Some kind of repair and maintenance was going on inside the train.
I also found a blind beggar with a mini hat in front of him and some pennies inside. He was singing a song with a little banjo in his hand...
♬ "...The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind. The aaanswer is blooowing in the wiind! ♬
I climbed inside the grill and saw inside a rotor blade spinning with its control box behind those fans. I needed a way to cross so I switched time but here in the future, the fans blades were broken on the ground and blocking the path. With no other options in my hand now, I went back to present and tried shooting the control box. I was kind of succesful but the muzzle splitted and shot a man. At first, I couldn't see who he was but then, when I saw those white hairs. It was quite late before I realised the blunder I made! It was me, who shot Dr. Lambert's future self! Now, the reality was getting clearer and was in front of me hitting like a speeding car. The gun slided from my hands and I was on my knees in despair, "It...was me, all along!"
"...But now, I couldn't stop. What's done is done and there's no time for grief! I must move ahead! I'm sorry Dr. Lambert..." I stood up and crossed those fan blades.
Dr. Lambert went ahead through a door and before I could make it, the door locked.
There was another dusty grill and that too unbolted but shut. It lead me on top of an elevator which I took to ascend upto the Floor Tier 3. "After all this, finally I made it to the Archon. Now I have to only find a way to destroy that supercomputer and bring an end to all of this..." In front of me was the Chief of Staff's office. The door was unlocked for some reason and inside was a key card under some papers with the
same models and prototypes I saw earlier in Dr. Lambert's house. I took the key card and went inside the elevator to descend in sub-levels 2, time 8:03 am. I used the key card in room 2B and was temporarily for then allowed access, but the things I saw inside the lab made me blink my eyes in wonder and terror!
