"So what if he is Louis!?" She asked with contempt.
"So why attack a person here to give us aid."
"A person?- After what he did to you I doubt if he is a person."
"Person or not, he at least honoured his promise. Let us at least give him a chance to work." Mother seemed calm now. She paced to the side of her husband and Louis followed.
"You begged for my presence because you believe your son vessels a Curse, correct?" My parents both seemed offended by his statement but then nodded. "Do you even have any idea what Curses are?"
Father replied calmly, "They are greedy parasitic spirits and souls which still holds attachments or grudges against the living and so ends up making deals with Underworlders to get reborn with new souls in hopes of taking over their vessels one-day."
"Correct. And what do you do to new weeds in a farm?- You purge them before they mature. Now I believe my work here is done so if you will excuse, I shall be on my merry way." Louis said as he was preparing to leave.
"Wait!" Father exclaimed as he forced himself to his feet with mother's help. "How about the Curse seal you spoke of before?"
"Henry, don't be a fool. If there ever was any my hands wouldn't have been forced. Tell me Henry, do you loathe me for what I did to your father?"
"Vividly. He died by your hands. How could you? (Tears began to slide down) How could you, grandfather?- You killed your own son. It has been 17 years since then, yet not once did you mourn. Perhaps you were trying to act tough and spend the last 16 years sobbing. Are my right?- Did you lament?- Is that why your eyes have been closed since last night?"
"No, my eyes have been shut since the last 16 years. No, I shed not a single tear. And no, that thing wasn't my son." He said with an increase in his tone. "Do you still seek vengeance?"
"Yes, you know I do. With all my being. If only I had the power, I would cut you down." He tries to advance as if about to attack but mother held him.
"You know you can't fight me (he signs). As family, I shall bestow upon you a reward. I will give your son the honour of being the first my eyes befall after 16 years of self-blindness. Let me look at him, let me confirm your suspicion of him being cursed. It could be that he is just gifted with immense power." Mother turned to look at father. They looked at each other as if sharing speechless speeches. Father nodded in agreement and mother left headed for the bed I laid on. She came to me then picked me up then turned to Louis who was facing us already. I could finally get a good look at him. He was really hale and sinewy. His long white beard and eyebrows reminded me of Shao-lin monks. He was only dressed in white trousers and for an old man like him, he was really built. With how his hands were strapped at his back, he seemed so professional.
"Ok I am to open my eyes now." He said with a cocky smile plastered on his face. I saw him open his eyes and that is all I recall. The next thing I know, father was before mother and I with his back at us. A huge blast of wind went before father, the impact sent everything flying around. The explosion took out the windows, furnitures and even mother and I went a bit back but she caused a little wind to act as a barrier. She jumped a long way from there to the side and I finally got a clear view of what had happened.
It seemed Louis made a deadly move. A move definitely meant for my face. But luckily, my awesome father for in the way and blocked the punch. He blocked with his left hand and the right hand placed at the back for support. Father's countenance was of pure rage and Louis's emitted immense fear. Father then fell unconscious on his face.
"You murderous beast!" Mother directed to Louis.
"Murderous?- Maybe. But a beast?- That is what you hold. I'm telling you, that's no child. That is an abomination, the downfall of all humanity. Let it die now or one day you will plead for my hands to rip out his heart. But then, even for me, it will be too late."
"Again with the abomination talk?- Who are you to judge my son the first time you laid your eyes on him?- Who are you to predict his future?- It's all so unfair. How do you know what the future holds if it was never given the chance to come?- Huh! Tell me me(a tear slides out slowly as if being restricted and she wipes it away slowly). At first I thought my mind was playing tricks on me, but now looking I'm your eyes I feel it, your sorrow. Your face spells fear, but not of my son. And your eyes, your shivering eyes are full of sorrow. Louis, tell me, what is it that has damaged your broken heart?- What has caused so much sadness to befall you?"
"Shut up!" Louis shouted. "I'm scared of nothing. there is no sorrow in my eyes, there is nothing. Just let go of that thing before it is too late!" Finishing his statement, he dashes in our direction with the intent to destroy. Father was unconscious, mother was no match for Louis, we were left defenseless. I thought to myself why Al' will get me reborned only for myself and a wonderful family to perish. He asked me to stay safe forgetting I will be a baby once more. I have grown too attached to all these wonderful people I have met. And here again death stares me right in the face with menace.
Closer and closer Louis got. Everything seemed so slow but for a fact I knew it was fast. Mother hugged me tightly. I wished I could do something but felt so powerless. When Louis got closer enough he threw the punch, I knew this was it. Again, father came in the way like a meat shield taking the punch in his guts. He coughed up some blood and stood there frozen. I noticed something. My crazy father was unconscious. Louis pushed him aside and attacked again but our meat shield jumped back and took the punch with his face. Louis burst out with anger, then began to rain on his feeble grandson varieties of attacks. Father kept receiving them like a vapid being without phasing. Each attack left a fatal mark but Louis didn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. He would hold father by the head then thrust it harshly against his knee. He held father by the hair, then rose him by an arm and threw punches in his face.
Mother and and I watched with with our faces bathe in tears. She looked so miserable like a woman about to get stoned to death for adultery. I felt so much rage and swore there and then that if by some miracle we survived, I was going to send back every single pain he had caused, tenfold. Mother continued to cry pleading for mercy for her husband. Occasionally, she would cause rubbles and furnitures to shoot at Louis but all were hitting a barrier.
Louis held father by the throat and shouted with rage, "Can't you see I'm getting my hands soiled for you. I am trying to save you from my mistake and yet still you get in the way. If you allow that boy to grow, you will end up doing what I did and live your entire life in regret. Tell me is that what you want!?" Father rose his weak hands to hold onto Louis's weak arm which suspended him in the air. I saw him saying something but couldn't make anything of it. The on thing I was sure to have heard from his mouth was, "...not your fault..."
