Rosé's POV
Once the chains were disintegrated, I slipped down and sat on the ground. Igdaliah was watching intently and it was hard to ignore his presence. What he did not know was that I had never been able to create a connection in order for the enshadowed perception to work. I had been made a laughing stock for a long time in the academy. But this was not just a test, this was life and death.
Amid the dimly lit chamber, I closed my eyes, a turbulent storm of doubt and fear brewing within me. Doubt in my abilities and fear for the fate that awaited Eva if I failed. For years, I had attempted to master the art of enshadowed perception, a skill whispered of in hushed tones among witches. My connection to it had been painfully feeble, an endless series of failures that mocked my desperation.
