Eva's POV
I concentrated, I moved the brooch inch by inch until I found what needed. The right amount of sunlight to create a concentrated beam.
Rosé was so still, it was almost as though she was not there.
With that achieved, I moved the beam to the first foreign letter, my heart thumping with both excitement and fear of disappointment. I watched was the first letter burnt away to relieve another in its place. I continued just Thomas had done, line by line revealing more and more of what was hidden underneath. I could have fainted from the overwhelming amount of glee that was pulsating through my body.
It took a minute but only when I was done and dropped that brooch did I realize just how cramped my arms were. But at the moment that did not matter.
"You succeeded," Rosé put a hand on my shoulder. "What does it say? You say it is from the man who took you in?
