Eva's POV
Dinner was a quiet affair except for conversing cutlery. Everyone kept to themselves, eating. Desert was the regal rose petal parfait. It was a treat that consisted of layers of delicately flavored rosewater custard and sponge cake. And the custard was infused with handpicked rose petals crystallized with molten sugar for that subtle crunch. Topped with the juiciest raspberry.
My mouth watered at the sight and the smell was hypnotizing. It was my favorite dessert and had only ever been served once before. With the small golden spoon provided, I dug into it.
Someone chuckled, "You are just like me dear, I love it too," my grandmother said and she took a spoonful.
I laughed. "It's delicious!"
"Indeed it is and let me tell you a secret,"
"Yes, grandmother?"
"It's my recipe," her lips spread into a beaming grin.
