Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - Companions Or Something

After closing the status screen, a dull pain radiated through Sun's head. It felt as though his brain was being gradually encumbered. As this happened, a stream of memories started to flow into his temple.

Sun instantly knew that these memories belonged to the past owner of this body.

After a couple of seconds, he had obtained all of the memories of the past owner.

Just as he thought, the decapitated girl - who he saw when he first transmigrated - was his sister. Although the past Suniol might have mourned for her deeply, Sun felt no obligation nor temptation to do this. He had obtained the past Suniols memories, but they still felt quite artificial.

According to his newfound memories, the past Suniol and his sister were also orphans from birth.

'Huh... how conveinent.'

They had joined a small adventurers group in a guild within the village they grew up in, Sanction Village, which was a small village located in the middle of Uriel Forest 300 miles away from the prosperous kingdom of Saihail.

With the small adventurer's group, consisting of only seven people, he and his sister had entered a beginner-stage cave, an area in which newbie adventurers would go to train and gain more experience in the action of hunting.

They had only done this in order to support themselves, as they had been living independently their whole lives, and hunting in caves was a substantial enough way for them to live without starving.

However, any cave was still considered very dangerous, even if they were labeled to be for beginners. Especially because caves were a part of the wilderness, where anything could take place.

For Suniol and his sister, luck had not sided with them on the day they entered the cave.

Within just a couple of hours spent fighting inside of the cave, all seven of the adventurers realized that it was most definitely not just a beginner-stage cave, with the appearance of an overbearing amount of goblins. After a day of fighting, two of the adventurers who had joined the team, Cheyoi and Larlos, abandoned the rest of the group and fled.

This sole decision caused the rest of the group to become trapped far too deep inside of the cave, too deep to return. Their only hope was to defeat the cave and get teleported out with the help of the exit rune that could be obtained when clearing all creatures in the cave.

Or, to wait until Cheyoi and Larlos called for help. However, this was not seeming likely, as they would have no excuse for how only they got out untouched while the rest were still stuck inside fighting for their lives.

With this situation, Suniol and his sister eventually separated from the rest of the group temporarily, and that was around when Sun transmigrated into his new body.

'Damn bastards. I will have to find them and teach them a lesson for trapping me in here when I get out.' Sun thought to himself. Although the memories didn't affect Sun emotionally in any type of major way, to think that anyone would abandon him at all made him itch a little too much in the wrong spot.

Several seconds passed by as Sun reviewed his new memories, by this time, he began to feel very lightheaded. Also, the adrenaline had finally started to die down, and waves of mind-numbing pain began surging throughout his body. He especially felt a stinging pain in his leg.

That's when he remembered the goblin stabbing him just a few minutes prior. His thigh was already bleeding heavily due to Sun taking the dagger out of his leg. He knew that taking it out would have indefinitely caused excessive bleeding, but he had no choice, for he needed a weapon to fight.

Sun unclothed the dead goblin, taking the rag from its body and tightly bandaging his leg with it. He didn't think it would help a whole lot, but it was the only thing he could do for now.

According to his memories, he hadn't slept or eaten for two entire days. His fatigue had started to catch up with him. All he wanted to do was just lay down and fall asleep. Within moments, he slowly dozed off.

...

Eventually, he woke up to a person tugging on him.

"Huh?" He said as he sat up and scratched his eyes.

"Wake up Suniol, it's time to move." Said a blonde-haired young man who was around 20 years of age. He wore a large magician's robe, cyan-blue in color having the crest of a starfish sown on it. He also wore thick glasses that covered his bright cerulean eyes. His face was symmetrical and still, showing a slight smile as he tugged on Sun's shoulder.

"Move? What are you talking about." Sun said, still groggy from his sleep. He sat up and looked around, surveying his surroundings.

'Deja vu?'

He looked to be somewhere else in the cave, on the floor next to three other people who were surrounding a small campfire.

"You know, if I didn't see you sleeping on the ground in the middle of nowhere a couple of hours ago, your stupid ass would have been inside of a goblins stomach right now. What the hell were you thinking sleeping in a goblins den!?" An unfamiliar, harsh voice came from another man who was sitting slightly farther away. This harsh man's look caught Sun's attention. He wore roughed-up clothes and had a grizzly beard containing freckles of gray hairs. His face was stained with black ash and his eyes were surprisingly black, not turning brown even in the fire's flare.

'That's right, I did fall asleep in an unknown area without knowing if the coast was clear or not. That was a foolish mistake by me.' Sun thought to himself.

"Give the kid a break. He's only what, around thirteen years old? He looks tall enough to be fourteen if he's lucky. He doesn't know the dangers of life yet." Said a fat lady in a condescending voice sitting farthest away from Sun. She looked to be wearing the fanciest clothing out of the group and had thick makeup all over her slobby face, which - along with her clothes - looked to be completely unblemished.

'So this is what I have to deal with huh?' Sun thought to himself, looking at all three of the other adventurers.

"I apologize for having to make you all go through that, It was my mistake," Sun said, admitting to his mistakes.

"Huh, that's not usually how he talks. Arthur, are you sure he didn't hit himself in the head or something?" The fat lady said with a confused look on her face.

"Yes... Im sure lady Fergersun. I performed a thorough check on his vitals. They show no clear signs of any major health issues." The blonde-haired young man said, seeming slightly annoyed.

"Alright, then enough of this chitter chatter. Eat your shit and let's get the fuck outta here before them little green imps catch up with us." The grizzly beard man said, chowing down on the strips of meat he had at his disposal.

"Here," Arthur said, handing Sun a couple of pieces of meat as well.

The taste of the meat was nothing crazy, like normal meat jerky.

After eating, the group trashed the campfire - making sure no trackable marks could be found - and walked further down the cave. No one asked Sun about his sister, probably because they didn't want to deal with the awkward situation afterward. This was actually a good thing for Sun since he didn't have to put on any sort of act either.
