Sal's POV
"How do you manage to hold in all that poop?" Rosa asked, followed by a torrent of questions that made Sal's body cold.
"Is it uncomfortable?"
"I mean, with the look of it, the amount of poop seems to be a ⅓ of your weight. Quite a hefty achievement."
"It's simply fascinating how your body manages to keep the poop in for 7 days."
"Though, if you were to poop, why come down the whole tree? From my understanding, sloths are the best high in trees with shelter and food, the base of a tree makes you susceptible to other animals."
"Why not poop up there?"
The light in Sal's eyes faded despite Rosa's shimmering eyes. Sal felt his soul leaving his body, floating up, up, and away so he could escape. Sal wanted to rewind time, to take back the words that escaped his foolish mouth.
He deeply regretted every syllable that left his dumb face.
"S-...a…Sa-...Sal?"
Sal didn't realize Rosa was calling to him. His daze left him a few precious seconds before the catastrophe, the catastrophe "Grilled by Rosa".
"Rosa, how about we, um, don-" Sal offered, raising his head to meet head-to-head with Rosa's ruby eyes.
It seems Rosa didn't intend to negotiate.
With little to no energy left, Sal meekly replied. He didn't even have the energy to feel embarrassed, he just wanted to slump his head and sleep, escaping into the dream world.
"Yeah," he rasped, "I just, you know, the thing-"
"Yes, I know," Rosa nodded, she was very attentive.
-If I just blurt it all out, then it'll be all over very soon.-
As Sal finished thinking, the words zipped out of his mouth rapidly.
"I managed to hold it in. It isn't painful at all, though it gets very uncomfortable by the end of the week, so I have to go down to do my business. As for the reason, it may be because I eat really slowly so I digest slowly too."
"Then why come all the way down here to poop?"
"Because I-"
Sal paused.
That was a question that he never asked himself.
Why?
…
"I-, I don't know…" Sal answered and a rush of blood surged to his head.
His head exploded.
-I've been living my life wrong this whole, entire time!-
-Why? I could've avoided so many embarrassing moments!-
-Rosa would've never seen me do…MY RITUAL!-
With a whimper, Sal threw his head on the tree, wrapping his arms around his arms to shield him from Rosa's concerned expression.
-Why cruel world, why?!-
