She picked a red gown, it was not too revealing but it was quite provoking, and the fact that she would be seeing Chris soon made her want to even wear it the more
She rubbed some moisturizer on her skin and headed for Chris's room, she was about to knock on Chris's door when she saw Williams at the end of the hall walking towards her
Her heart did a flip-flop flop and she immediately got nervous like someone who was caught doing something bad
She quickly got herself back together and put on a smile
"Jane, are you busy?" Williams asked her
"Not exactly Sir, I just need to attend to Mr. Christopher and see if he needs anything" she replied to him
"By this time of the night?" Williams raised a brow, it seemed late to him though
"Anyways that's not an issue, I need you in my study now I need to talk to you about something," he said and walked away
Jane wondered why he would want to see her ever since she started working in the mansion Mr. Williams never bothered her about anything or even cared about her work, she wondered what was going on
She followed after him and went into the study with him, she got there and he was already standing by the window
Williams noticed her entrance and turned to look at her
"Don't worry there's no need to be worried or nervous you've done nothing wrong, I just want to say a few things to you," he said
"Sit down," he said and gestured for her to sit on one of the chairs
"No Sir, please let me just stand like this," she said
"No, I insist, there's nothing to worry about" Williams insisted
"All alright sir," Jane said and sat down even though she was still nervous
"Allow me to tell you a story about myself," he said
Jane was stunned, Mr Smith wanted to tell her a story? she wondered what it could be she didn't know why but something seemed fishy
"I grew up in a very wealthy family and as the first child and son, a lot was expected of me even when it came to marriage, but guess what I fell in love with a maid," Willams said and pursed a bit waiting to see Jane's reaction and she did react
Hearing what he said Jane felt a bit uncomfortable, she didn't know how to react ' Could it be that he caught them both already? ' she thought
Seeing her reaction Willams was not surprised he had suspected something was going on
"But I didn't dare to love her because of her background; my parents did not have it; they made sure they broke us apart, and I didn't dare to stand up for her, but you know the funny thing?
I ended up marrying a maid as well, I had an affair with Maria she was also a maid in my parent's mansion, I cheated on Whitney with her and she got pregnant with Christopher
I didn't have any choice but to marry her, my parents and siblings didn't agree at first but they gave in at last, I married her for Chris not because I loved her, I betrayed the woman I loved the most and I couldn't stand for our love
But now it's what I regret the most, I wish I had done otherwise, I would give up anything just to see her again, she just suddenly disappeared" Willams explained with tears flowing down his cheek
"Why didn't you find her all these years?" she asked
"Cause I don't have the courage to, I'm a coward" he sobbed
"No, you are not, you just don't want to jeopardize your family and for the sake of your children" she comforted him
"You don't have to make me feel good" he dried his tears with a handkerchief and sat down close to Jane
"Do you know the real reason why I called you here?" he asked and Jane shook her head
"Because I'm seeing history play out again, I guess my son and I have the same fate after all," he said
Jane's heart was pounding and beating so fast she wondered if he knew anything
"I saw the way my son looked at you this evening at the table, I see the way he protects you and your child, my son feels something for you and I know you feel the same cause I saw everything
The way you were stealing glances at each other" Williams said
"No sir he's just being a nice boss to me " she refuted
"That's not true, have you seen the way he treats everyone else? Ever since what happened to him five years ago he has been the same ever since the breakup shook him bad
But today I saw my son laugh genuinely again and I've noticed it for some days now, he has
changed a bit and I believe you Jane are the reason behind it, tell me is something going on?" Williams asked her
Jane didn't say anything, she was dumbfounded, she didn't know how to answer him, she didn't know whether to tell him the truth or not, she just sat there blank
"It's okay if you don't want to tell me anything I was just curious anyways, but I called you here and told you all I told you for purpose, I want you to take care of my son, keep making him happy
Bring him out from the shackle that he has placed himself, and you should fight for your love, don't hesitate or back down as I did,and don't be a coward, fight if you do, just know that I will always support my son, I love my children so much and I will never subject them to a life of torture like mine" Williams said
Jane didn't say anything she just sat there
"You can go now," he said and stood up to go to the window side
"Okay Sir," Jane said and left the study
