Jane woke up feeling pains all over her body; she had sustained some bruises yesterday from the struggle with that freak, and she needed to rest. There was no way she was going to work today, or better still, get another job, she thought to herself.
She slowly opened her eyes and studied her environment. This didn't look like her room, she thought, and there was no Mrs. Whitney and Christopher in sight; then she remembered that she had not gone home yesterday. She had slept over at Gloria's house. She got up from the bed and found no one beside her, ' Gloria must be up ' she thought.
She climbed down from the bed and picked up her phone. It was already past 9 am "I overslept." She quickly dashed to the bathroom to take a bath, and she was done in less than five minutes. She came back into the room, and her eyes traveled to a gown on the bed; she hadn't noticed that before. Gloria must have placed it there ' How thoughtful of her ' she thought to herself, she quickly dressed up and headed to the sitting room
She found no one when she got there, ' where did everybody go? How can they leave a stranger alone in their house? ', she was about to pick up her phone and call Gloria when she heard footsteps. The person was coming towards her, she turned around it was Felix
"Good morning Felix," she said
"Good morning Jane how was your night?" Felix replied.
"It was fine, thanks. Have you seen Gloria?" Jane asked
"Gloria has gone to work she runs in between jobs you know that right?", how could she have forgotten that not everyone has an easy life ' poor Gloria ' she thought
"Oh, of course, I forgot I should get going then I will call her later," Jane said
"Aren't you going to wait and eat breakfast? I'm preparing Mac and cheese," Felix interjected; he couldn't fathom why, but ever since he saw her last night, he couldn't stop thinking about her. He had a liken towards her; he wanted her to stay, and the thought of her leaving pinched him in his heart.
He had even offered to prepare breakfast this morning just to make her stay
"Oh, I am sorry. Maybe next time, I need to get home. My guardian and son must be worried about me, and I know my son, if he doesn't see me, he might get sick," Jane said. Her words brought Felix back to reality
"Your son, You have a son?" Felix asked ' she has a son ' Felix asked himself in his head
"Yes, I have a four-year-old boy; I will get going now, bye," Jane said.
Seeing she was hell-bent on leaving he knew there was nothing he could do to stop her
"All alright but please make sure to drop by next time" Felix finally said
"I will try," Jane said, and with that, she stepped out of the house.
Felix sank into the chair after she left ' She has a son ' he kept thinking in his head
"Why didn't Gloria tell me that?" he muttered to himself; he had ensured he secured some information about Jane from his sister before she left for work this morning; he knew she was the same age as him. They were both 21. Well, she will just be turning 21, according to his sister.
She works in the same club as Gloria and then she lives downtown too but she didn't tell him she had a son, ' Is she married? ' the thought came to him and he shunned it' No she doesn't look married at all or maybe she lives with her boyfriend who is also the father of the child that's a possibility ' he thought again.
"I need to kiss her as soon as she comes back," he said to himself, there was just something about this Jane girl that intrigued him, he had never felt this way before, her eyes her lips everything about her was just intriguing, a smile curved upon his face
"I like you, Jane, and I am going to get you".
Jane waited for a bus for close to 10 minutes before getting one; on the ride back home, she just kept thinking about everything. She needs to get another job; she can't keep working at the club and keep risking her life like this, given what she has gone through in the past.
What if Gloria hadn't come to save her last night, she wished more than ever now that she had gone to school and bagged a degree. If only that monster had not raped her; with that thought, a silent tear found its way to the corner of her eyes, then she remembered Mrs. Whitney's words everything happens for a reason. ' this better results in a good one ' she thought.
