Chapter 4 - Chapter 4. Has the sky always been so blue?

Liz was fed up. She moved around on the bed and grabbed a pillow proceeding to scream into it with frustration. How the heck was this so hard?! It was one simple and cheap game but she couldn't complete the last route? She was at the peak of her sanity when a message popped up on her screen. She had to read the message twice, blinking multiple times and squinting really hard to see if what her eyes were showing was true.

The message said "Ultimate Happy Ending Limited edition deal pack!" "Buy this deal and you'll automatically complete the happy ending of any character! You can then unlock the route of the hidden character!" "Just for the fair price of $16.99!" Then at the bottom it showed "Accept" and "Decline."

Wait what? That was it?!? After almost six hours of trying to receive tickets and gems by watching stupid ads she just suddenly receives this message?! It seemed way too easy! Plus why would she use almost $17 out of the twenty dollers she had in her wallet just to buy the ending of a fictional character? She contemplated the pros and cons for this decision. Slowly rubbing her eyes as she thought.

Pros:

1. Her pride and ego would be satisfied.

2. She could finally finish this Otome game.

3. The long hours she spent trying to win the game wouldn't go to waste.

Cons:

1. Her money would be gone.

2. Her poor wallet would cry.

3. She'd probably regret it later.

Her ego took over and she clicked "Accept" sighing as she pressed her finger on the Touch ID to confirm her purchase. Then there was another message that said "Congratulations! You have purchased the limited edition pack and can now use it! To use, simply press on the character you would like to use "Happy Ending" on then wait for the magic to happen!" She pressed on Yasushi's profile and then the screen went black only showing a small loading icon.

After a few seconds Yasushi was in front of the screen saying the exact same line she had seen multiple times at the end of his route. He said "Do you accept my heart?" To which she was only given one choice to, this time. She clicked "Yes" and then soft piano started to play in the background as soft cherry blossom petals fell and sunlight was illuminated on Yasushi's face as he slowly smiled. She would have found it rather attractive but she was fed up with the character she only stared blankly at the screen as it went black and the message that was typed in white made her grin wildly (she looked slightly possessed at that moment) "The End" was the only thing shown on the screen.

Yes! Finally she had finished! Now she could unlock the hidden characters path. But before that…she would take a quick nap, it was necessary. All the stress and sleep deprivation from not being able to finish the game made her extremely tired and she felt slightly sick. She closed the app and looked at the time, it was currently 4am and she had been sent to bed at 9pm. She sighed, jeez all she did for a game was too much for her.

She closed her eyes quickly drifting off to sleep with her phone in her hand..too tired to even dream. She fell down the rabbit hole of slumber rather quickly.

A small room with only a desk, a window, a small wardrobe and a bed were present. The room had been coloured in a dark shade of grey paint that had started to chip off in some areas of the room. The girl was currently sleeping in her bed and then she began stir awake. She yawned and got out of bed, stretching her arm muscles on the way to the toilet.

She smiled, her body didn't seem so tired anymore, in fact it felt like she had never even been tired in the first place. Like she was so full of energy she could run anywhere, which was surprising since she was super lazy most of the time. She opened her bedroom door, her eyes still closed as she softly treaded towards the toilet.

To her surprise she was met with a wall. A white brick wall. Wait where was the toilet? She was sure that it was located to the right of the hallway which was near her bedroom. She finally opened her eyes rubbing them slightly as she looked around. Where…was she? There was a hall in her view, the hall had four doors leading to different rooms. She opened the one closest to her which was a toilet. She sighed, where the heck was she? She ignored all the red flags and went to do her business closing the door behind her. After she was done she was washing her hands and looked up in the mirror to find a random stranger staring back at her.

The girl in the reflection had straight black hair and brown eyes with a slightly pale complexion. She had distinct Asian features and thin pink lips.

Liz was dumbfounded. "Anatahadare?" she spoke and found the girl in the reflection copying her. She touched her lips…was that her speaking? Wait, did she just speak Japanese? She could also see without her glasses, which were nowhere to be found. Right, let's take this all in very calmly. She went out of the toilet and back to the bedroom that was very unfamiliar to her. She jumped on the bed and sighed. Liz had always been practical. She carefully thought out the possibilities in her head. Going over each one slowly.

1. Where was she? Who was she?

2. How did this even happen?

3. Did she get isekaied in her sleep or something?

4. Maybe she died and is now in this body. If so where was her original body?

5. She is now Japanese. That's cool since she's always wanted to visit but she didn't want to suddenly become a Japanese person!

3. There's no actual evidence she died. This could possibly be a dream? How could she prove that then?

4. She just has to pinch herself.

She pinched herself on the arm and slightly winced. Right, not a dream then. She got up off the bed and went out of the room to investigate. She was met with a small living room and a kitchen. She went up to the dining table in the kitchen and saw a note laying there.

The note read this:

"Dear Asami,

we are very sorry we could not be here to welcome you back from your trip to America. Something came up and your father and I had to leave for a business trip for six months. I'm very sad to have left so ubruptly and not be there for you but I hope you don't mind too much. I heard lovely things about America in the summer! How was it there? I hope Auntie Sakura treated you well on your stay! Anyway I've transferred some money to your bank account and it will probably last for a good few months. Spend your money wisely! I'm sure you can live well on your own since you are smart, independent and practical. I'm counting on you. Oh! And your new uniform for the start of the school year is in your closet. Have a good first day next week!"

Your Mother & Father.

She reread the note twice before sighing. Ok, so her name was now Asami and she came back from being in America during the summer. Since she had a new uniform she was probably just starting high school, meaning she was either 15 or around that age.

She had remained calm during all of this but the weight of everything started to come crashing down on her. She was somehow in a weird, new place with a new body and identity and she didn't know what to do next. What was even going to happen? Would she be in danger?

She started to hyperventilate almost having a panic attack. She ran towards the front door and went outside. She sat down on the front doorsteps and breathed slowly looking up at the sky. She had calmed down once again. A soft breeze blew past her. Only one thing was on her mind now.

Had the sky always been so…blue?
