Chapter 7 - Marriage Proposal!?

"I will give you the country of Raichi," Prince Thomas said.

"But," Prince Thomas said, "there is one condition."

"What is your condition, Prince Thomas?" the Emperor inquires.

"I will give you the territory of Raichi if you allow me to marry Miss Penelope," he said, after hearing that all of the nobles whispered.

/Oh my goodness, Miss Penelope is so fortunate./

/Oh, how I wish I could be Penelope/

/Miss Penelope is a stunning woman, and marrying the prince would be a perfect match./

"So, your majesty, what do you think?" the prince inquires.

"I-I don't think I'm in a position to answer that, but it would be better if you asked Miss Penelope instead of me," the Emperor remarked, and Prince Thomas looked at Penelope.

"I'm sorry, Prince Thomas, but I'd want to decline your proposal," Penelope remarked awkwardly.

Penelope reflected, 'F*ck, I didn't expect it to be like this (referring to the marriage proposal)'.

"But why wouldn't you accept my proposal? I mean, you'll be more wealthy and become my concubine, "Prince Thomas asked, puzzled.

"I don't enjoy marrying someone who already has a concubine," Penelope explained.

"Then I shall divorce my concubines," Prince Thomas declared, shocking all of the nobles.

Penelope responded, "You don't have to do that, your highness," and the prince scowled.

"The truth is, your highness, I really don't want to get married right now, and I'm really sorry," Penelope explained.

"It's alright, I'll wait," Prince Thomas said.

"But-" Penelope was interrupted when Prince Thomas spoke.

"Hush, no buts," the Prince replied, then looked at the Emperor, who had a saddened expression on his face.

"Don't worry Your Majesty, I may not offer you the country of Raichi, but I will give you the territory of Holland," Prince Thomas remarked, and the Emperor is now pleased, and the nobles are congratulating him.

Following that, the Constantine Duchess was named the winner of the Emperor's Competition.

Penelope's pov

I watched my mother smile, and that made me happy as well.

"Dear, I won the competition!" mother told me

"Congratulations, Mom," I said with a smile

Following the banquet, we returned to our estate to celebrate my mother's victory.

"Congratulations, Love," Dad remarked as he toasted the wine with mom.

"Thank you, honey," Mom responded, giggling.

"I also believe we should be grateful to our lovely daughter because she is the one who brought us this victory, right love?" Dad added to mum.

"You are correct, honey; if Penelope had not assisted me, I would have received the punishment, and our family would have been disgraced," Mother stated in a mournful tone.

"Do you know who might have done this to you, Mother?" I said.

"No, I don't know," Mom answered, and I sighed deeply before turning to face Dad.

"I'm still looking into it, Penelope, so don't worry," Dad assured me.

I simply nod, knowing that it was my aunt and cousin's fault, but I can't tell mom because she treats her like a sister, whereas my aunt doesn't.

I just hope Mom realizes Aunt does not treat her like that.

Third Person Pov

At the Brince Mansion,

Camilla is attempting to stop her mother as Madam Juanna is currently flinging objects.

"Mom, stop it," Camilla said.

"GET AWAY FROM ME!" said Madam Juanna, throwing the base in front of her daughter.

Camilla stammered, trying to think of a way to stop her mother but failing, "B-but mum, Dad will be here any time soon."

"Do you think I care, HUH?" Madam Juanna exclaimed.

"It's all Penelope's fault," Madam Juanna stated as she walked over to her daughter.

"My daughter, you should be the focus of attention, not Penelope. Do anything you can to be in the spotlight, okay?" Madam Juanna said, making a wild face.

"Y-yes mom, I promise," Camilla said, and Madam Juanna felt a little reassured.

"The Duke has arrived!" announces the Butler, as Duke Brince enters to inspect the shambles Madam Juanna has created.

"What Happened Here?" Duke Brince exclaimed loudly.

"I did it, hubby," Madam Juanna responded coldly, and Duke Brince approached her and slapped her, which stunned Camilla.

"Do you realize how much those cost, huh?" Duke Brince demanded angrily.

"So you only care about those useless objects, huh?" Madam Juanna inquired.

"They are not useless; they have value in contrast to you and your mistaken daughter," Duke Brince roared.

"OUR MISTAKE, Brince, we made that child because we were drunk!" shouted Madam Juanna.

"If I hadn't agreed to this marriage, I would have been in that circumstance, not Harry, and Giselle would have been my wife, not YOU," Duke Brince answered.

"Do you suppose I too want this marriage, Brince?" No, I should have been in Giselle's place, Madam Juanna said,

When Duke Brince responded, "Hah, then let's divorce," Madam Juanna was taken aback but immediately recovered.

Madam Juanna responded, "All right, let's separate up, but I'll keep Camilla."

"Then keep her. Do you think I care, huh?" Duke Brince replied before leaving.

After that, Madam Juanna noticed Camilla standing nearby and approached her with concern.

"C-camilla I—" Madam Juanna's sentence was cut off as Camilla spoke.

"So I'm simply a mistake, huh?" Camilla inquired coldly.

"It's not like that, Camilla—"Madam Juanna didn't continue her sentence when Camilla yelled.

"Stop Denying Mom! I heard it all! I heard what you said earlier because I'm right in front of you and dad while you're fighting! " Camilla exclaimed angrily before exiting the room, leaving Madam Juanna alone.

at the Constantine mansion.

Penelope is currently conversing with Duke Harry about something.

"Father, could you please do me a favor?" Penelope asked.

"Sure, but what exactly is it?" Duke Brince inquired.

"Can I learn swordmanship, father?" Penelope said, making Duke Brince choke in the air.

"Are you okay, father?" Penelope inquired, concerned.

"I'm alright, don't worry," Duke Brince replied after recovering from the choke.

"But why do you wish to learn swordsmanship?" Duke Brince inquired.

"Because I want to learn and experience a wide range of things," Penelope explained.

"You know, Penelope swormanship isn't easy," Duke Brince replied.

"I know that, father, and I'm prepared to learn, so what do you say, father?" Penelope asked, and Duke Brince sighed.

"The answer is—"
