Chapter 52 - Part 50

As my roar echoed through the cave, a few of the soldiers dropped to the ground, accidentally relieving themselves as they quaked in fear. The other soldiers, the ones that had stood on their feet, were looking up at me with expressions of terror. A few of them were beginning to faint under the pressure.

I roared once more, then snarled in anger as I looked at the soldiers. Then, without much more warning, I opened my mouth and let out a large stream of fire. The fire, caused by the skill『 Fire Breath ], torched both the cave and the enemies within my reach. Instantly, almost half of their forces were defeated.

The lucky ones- the ones that were closest to me- died instantly. They were incinerated, turning into ash as my breath reached them. The others, however, died a few seconds later after experiencing the worst pain they could have ever imagined. A few of them ran through the air, waving their arms in desperation, before finally dropping to their knees as their bodies went limp.

"We're going to die!" One soldier in the back yelled out in fear as the fire stream from my mouth disappeared. Of course, because my flames were special, they weren't easily extinguished. Around the room, where the corpses of the fallen soldiers laid, were little bonfires that illuminated the room with a red tint. I smiled and laughed like a tyrant as the soldiers continued to panic. Then, a few seconds later, three brave soldiers charged forward.

They weren't the siblings, but rather innocent soldiers. I smiled, then turned my body and swiped my tail.

Instantly, all three of the charging soldiers were separated at their waists. Their legs fell to the ground as their torsos were flung into the air. One of them threw their weapon, a small sword, as their main body died, but the weak weapon simply bounced off of my hide and dropped to the ground.

I looked back at the soldiers and counted their numbers. They had already lost fourteen people, all within the first twenty seconds of the battle. It was truly catastrophic- almost disappointing by how easy it was.

'This isn't fun,' I sighed with disappointment. By now, the group began to look at me from the distance. None of them had bows or knew any spells, so they were only able to stare as they tried to find a way to fight me. Then, they heard a shout from behind them.

One of the soldiers turned around, then blinked in surprise as he saw a flash of silver. Then, without so much as an exclamation of surprise, an arrow made its way through his eye. His head jerked back and a small squirt of blood made its way into the air. His body dropped backward, signaling the start of the second part of the battle.

Icarus, Jonathan, and Evelyn had begun their part of the fight. Including the Caldwell siblings, the enemy group only had seven individuals left. Most of them turned around to face their new opponents, but the Caldwell siblings were staring at me with rage. The brother, specifically, looked like he was ready to bite me to death if he needed to.

His sister, on the other hand, looked calmer. She took a single glance at the bonfires scattered across the room before she began to step forward.

"How pathetic," She said. I felt myself flinch in anger as she spoke, but then I realized she was talking to the burning corpses of her allies. Her brother stepped forward as well, then unsheathed his battle ax and let it fall to his hands. Anya turned back to me, then sighed, "I see that we're outmatched. Why don't we make a deal? Turn back to a human and fight us. If you can defeat us, you win. If not, we win."

'Huh?' I wanted to say. That deal made no sense. Why would I voluntarily make myself weaker to fight people of similar strength to me? I quickly appraised the siblings, as I had already forgotten their level of strength.

"How about it?" Anya said. I looked at their stats, then sighed.

'Using my dragon form would be a mercy for them,' I thought to myself, 'These people deserve to feel pain after what they just tried to do.'

I sighed, then activated the skill that turned my body back into its human form. I looked up at them, then sighed once again.

"If you're looking for a fight, you're looking at the wrong person, but I'll humor you," I said as I unsheathed my sword. The siblings looked at each other, glad their plan to weaken me worked, "This form will be enough to finish you."

"How dare you!" Dave yelled as he charge forward. I looked at Dave's speed as he moved, measuring it. It was fast, but nowhere nearly as fast as mine. I brought my sword up to meet his battle ax. Based on the position of my block, Dave was confident he would be able to push through it, but that wasn't my intention.

Once his battleax struck my blade, a loud shing echoed through the cave. I quickly pushed my sword to the side, taking his battleax with it. Then, as Dave's body was forced to follow the momentum I created with my redirection, I brought up my left fist and slammed it into his chest.

Once my fist landed against his chest, I watched as a large stream of fire, similar in appearance to my fire breath- just smaller, erupted from an invisible spout just an inch away from my skin. The impact of the geyser of flames, as well as the power behind my punch, catapulted Dave across the cave. At the same time, his battleax dropped to the ground next to me and clanged against the cave floor.

I watched as his body flew through the air, but I didn't have time to celebrate. My eyes darted to my right as I saw Anya move to my side with her sword ready. She attacked, thrusting her weapon into my side, but I quickly took a step back. Her blade nearly hit me as it sailed just in front of me.

As I watched the blade move, I quickly brought my left fist away from where it struck Dave, then caught the blade with my fingers. I felt the blade suddenly stop as I tightened my grip. Then, not even a second after I had taken a hold of Anya's weapon, I quickly tugged it toward my left and brought the pommel of my sword into the air.

It struck Anya, causing her to groan in pain as she let go of her weapon. Then, as Anya took a step back to regain her bearings, I sighed and struck the pommel of my blade against her head once more.

Anya groaned again but was still left standing.

"How persistent," I muttered with an annoyed tone. Then, as I grumbled in annoyance, I slammed my right foot forward and slammed my left fist into Anya's stomach. She immediately yelled in pain as her body folded in my direction. For a moment, I heard a choke, but she quickly flew through the air the next moment.

She landed next to Dave, who was still trying to get rid of the stars in his eyes after my strike to his chest. I watched for a moment as the siblings attempted to find their way up to their feet, then realized I had a moment to check on the others.

I turned my gaze to the main fight, where the five soldiers fought against the twins and Icarus. By the time I had enough time to register what was happening, I smiled in satisfaction. Two of the soldiers had already fallen, too weak to go against any of their opponents. Jonathan was slightly injured, as he had a small cut on the top of his forearm, but it was nothing major.

Evelyn and Icarus were fine, evening competing against each other for dealing the most damage as they stole the attention of one of the soldiers each, while Jonathan fought off the last one. The fight was going well.

I looked back to the siblings, then began to walk in their direction.

"Your stats are impressive," I sighed, "But this is what your strength amounts to? I probably shouldn't have even used my sword, you're so weak."

"Shut up!" Anya yelled as she pulled her brother onto his feet. I looked at them, confused, as they turned to me with snarling expressions, "We'll kill you!"

"How? You've lost your weapons, I've proved my strength by purposefully weakening myself, and you haven't even managed to get in a hit in," I smiled, "You stand no chance."

"That doesn't matter. We'll defeat you, then return home," Anya yelled. I sighed, disappointed by Anya's stubbornness. Why didn't she just give up?

"Fine," I sighed. Then, with my full speed, I dashed forward. Before I had time to realize how fast I was going, I appeared in front of Dave. I moved my hand toward his neck, then clasped it tight as I brought him into the air. Dave immediately began to struggle against my grip. He would tug against my fingers, but they were too strong. Then he would begin to slam his hands into my arms, but I felt nothing more than a slight breeze. I turned to Anya, who was looking at me with a shocked expression.

Then, without anything to say, I threw my fist forward and slammed it into her neck.
