The blue panel in Eodum's mind faded away as it directed its attention back to reality. The gore and blood of Eodum's eviscerated victim's bodies covered the alley they stood in. The stone bricks now layered in ash, dust, and messy slaughter aftermath. A drop of blood dribbled from the roof into a pool of the crimson iron-smelling liquid. Eodum finally regained its focus, still feeling a slight migraine from the void's influence. Soon after Eodum regained its focus, the marching of more soldiers reverberated down the alley.
"We have to move." Eodum said. The four exchanged a singular nod before sprinting down the alley.
Henry ascended slightly above the houses and looked back, "Shit, they're catching up."
"No problem," Delacs reaffirmed, "we're almost at the wall." The looming figure of the towering stone wall stood high above any of them.
Henry warned, "We might be here, but it'll be too hard to climb the tower with the incoming soldiers."
"If we can't go over, then we have to charge through." Sheila proposed.
Eodum nodded, "Good idea." Eodum and Sheila prepared themselves in front of the wall while Henry kept an eye on the soldier, and Delacs would protect Henry. Sheila pulled back her golden glowing shield, and slammed it into the stone wall. Eodum on the other hand, was digging with all its might. With the combination of skills and accomplishments it wouldn't take long, but the soldiers' arrival wouldn't take long either.
The first wall of the mighty barrier fell away in a crumble and explosion of dust and dirt. The hollow inside of the wall revealed a stone brick staircase to the right of a small window. The red glow of the afternoon sky poured in from that steel bar window. A weapon rack stood slightly to the left of the window: daggers, axes, swords, and spears being held upon its wooden frame. Eodum and Sheila rushed through the opening. The floor, cold, hard, and unswept for many months.
Eodum and Sheila hurriedly got back to fracturing the sturdy stone wall once more. Delacs squeezed through and Henry soon after, "Shit they're here!" The advancing soldiers' footsteps got noticeably louder as they continued to approach the party. The yells and commands of high ranking soldiers sounded as the army formed a semicircle around the first hole. The semicircle got smaller and smaller as the soldiers cut off all forms of escape for the party.
"Stop right there ya damn rat," A rough and deep voice commanded the Eodum, "We got ya surrounded. Here and on the other side as well. Give up your resistance now, and we'll make this real quick." Eodum held still and turned around to face the man. The man had dark-skin with a contrasting close-cut, grey beard. His intense, dark brown eyes glared at Eodum with his thick eyebrows furrowed. Eodum felt a small trickle of fear enter its heart. He was strong. Too strong. However, Eodum was already free.
Eodum's thin tail slowly rose up to reveal a sharp and deadly looking stinger at its tip. The tip of the tail flared out, signifying the beginning of the stinger, and curved back down to a tip. It was slim, long, and most certainly dangerous. It rose and tensed up, the man's eyes widening in shock as Eodum struck the wall with its pointed weapon, and the stone barrier crumbled away. The soldiers on the other side were revealed to the party, but they were far fewer and weaker than the ones in front of them.
The party swiftly swung around and charged the soldiers on the other side. The man's eyebrow twitched for a second, and a vein emerged on his forehead, "GET THEM!!!" The soldier took a second before the sudden command registered, and they rushed after the party. Henry hastily landed and yelled out, "[Area of Ice]!!!" A rapidly expanding floor of thick ice covered the yellowish green grass of the field. The soldiers who saw it coming jumped before it reached them while the ones who didn't found themselves frozen from the waist down.
The soldiers that had bound into the air landed firmly on the ice before they found themselves slipping and sliding, unable to control their movement. Henry sped back to the party as the soldiers fumbled around on the magically-made ring of ice. The fumbling of soldiers continued as the sturdy man walked to the field. Another vein formed on the other side of the man's head, "DAMNIITTTTT!!!"
The dashing party made leaps and bounds over the dry grass. The echo of the man's bellow travelled far past the party, alerting a tree full of birds of the man's presence. They flew out of the verdant leaves of the wide tree in a flock of mixtures of red and black. They flew over the distance heading for the Kraude Forest. The party ran for a while more, but eventually found themselves slowing down because of a feeling of safety and exhaustion.
"Heh, heh," A small cackle slipped from the party, "Hah, hah, hah!" The party continued laughing in realization that their plan had worked. They'd escaped. Even Delacs had a wide smile across his scaled face, "Alright, alright, let's calm down. We're not out of the woods yet, you all still need to get to safety, and I need to report this to Count Seles."
"True, but we just accomplished the hardest part of the plan, so this calls for a small celebration," Henry countered, grinning ear to ear.
"Heh, true," Delacs agreed, "Alright, we can continue this little party." Henry waited for those words before pulling out some bottles of booze from his [Storage] along with some simple cups. They poured glasses of wine, mead, and beer: colors ranging from purple, to gold, to yellow. Even Sheila, one not much for alcohol, was partaking in the drinks. All worries and anxiety were washed away by the buzz that came from the drinks. The party had a slight interruption when they all saw the same message appear before them.
