Chapter 1 - One

It's been the same for months now, another werewolf found dead, with their large eyes in the same shocked manner. Werewolves are supposed to be strong and fearless, but their unspoken words tell a different story. They're trying to put up a brave face, since no one is raising their concerns. But they're all terrified.

It's the same for, Julian Anister, as the alpha of her pack this is alarming. As their leader, she feels responsible for this big mess and has to find whoever is responsible for this. Gandra peered over Julian's shoulder. Before them laid an Omega wolf, not from their pack. Could even be packless, because had he been in a pack, maybe he'd still be alive today. Or maybe he was in a pack, but Omegas are known for being stubborn rebellious.

"What you think it is?" asked the delta.

Julian leaned over the dead body, poor thing was still a kid. She didn't know him at all, but it burned her chest seeing him like this. His green eyes opened wide, as if the last thing he saw was terrifying. He was drenched in his own blood, his artery sliced open.

She rose to her feet and looked over at, Gandra, "vampires, what else? But why?"

Killian chuckled, "It's not a mystery. They want us dead, see us as a threat," he walks closer to the others, "they want to be the most powerful. It's how it's always been,"

Gandra bobbed her head, "Killian is right. But there's nothing we can do about it,"

"but we must!" exclaimed Julian, "this is the 30th body we've found. Someone needs to put an end to this nonsense." She turned around and faced her few deltas, "Nikla, schedule a meeting with the surrounding alphas. Abram, let's bury this child."

They both nodded their confirmation and hopped right to it. The few deltas and their alpha watched as Abram threw the dead body on a bed of wood before lighting it up. They do so to prevent any spirits from entering his body and creating havoc. It's a sign of respect. Respect for his human life, assuring his soul that nothing will steal it's body or take its form. When the body burnt up, they went to their pack where they kids were roughhousing. Training for when they eventually get to go hunting for real.

Other wolves sat around, just talking. Some women were already preparing lunch for all, wearing nothing but their aprons. What people don't know about werewolves is that they're nudists, because that's the form of a wolf. It's fur covers them, and when they're in human form, they just bare it out for all to see. Some wolves who are uncomfortable wear nature to cover themselves. Leaves, the skin of their prey. But majority prefer to be natural. It's only once they leave the dwelling and go into town when they change.

Each pack is different. As is every family. Some packs have no place to sleep, sleeping around fires for warmth. But Julian's pack has underground sleep space, built by the men and women in their pack. The reason why werewolves live out in the open, others in tents, is because wolves stay travelling. That's their nature. But, Julian didn't want that. She wanted a home for all, also protection. She walked up to a nearby bush and lifted it up. It's a hidden door that hides their dwelling. She climbed down the stairs and walked to her bed. It's a single bed. Her room is separated from the others, by a faded green curtain. Behind the curtain was her single bed, her bedside table and her mini shelf. On it are a few books she's reading, and her journal.

The other's sleep on the floor on mattresses. That's the most comfortable way to sleep as a wolf. Some have their wolf toys on their beds, others don't, and they all have their bedside table. On one side of the space are the cupboards, in those are their food and clothes.

She sat down on her bed, Gandra joined her. "What's on your mind?"

"I have a crazy idea,"

Gandra nodded her head, her curious orange eyes staring right into, Julian's big almond shaped red eyes. "When have you not?"

"Okay. I'm going to need this to stay between us... for now,"

Gandra nodded her head. She was itching to hear this secret of theirs.

"I want to leave the pack,"

Gandra was speechless, her eyes large. She couldn't think of one reason why. Her lips quivered but no sound came out.

Julian bit her nail, "well... say something,"

Gandra shook her head, "No...No...No... I-I mean no, wh-what will happen to the pack? Who will lead?"

"...Gandra..." Julian said so gently.

But Gandra couldn't hear her alpha. "What if you die? You've never been outside of the woods..."

"GANDRA!" Julian raised her voice.

Gandra looked at the brown faced woman before her. Looking into her eyes seemed to calm her down a bit. She nodded her head. "Okay... wh-why?"

Julian raised her hands in defeat, "I-I can't let vampires keep on doing this to us, they have to be ended,"

"and will, you don't have to leave the woods for that,"

"how? Someone needs to get out there and face them,"

Gandra scoffed, "and that someone has to be you?"

Julian raised her eyebrows and sighed. "I don't see any other alpha caring enough. And I don't blame them, they have enough problems as is."

"I don't like this... But I'm going to trust you."

Night fell in the forest, Julian looked at her pack. Their eyes fell on her, her two most trusted deltas stood beside her. Gandra at her right, Killian on her left.

"I'm on my way to a meeting. I'm joining surrounding alphas to discuss these deaths. See if we can find a way to prevent them, in the meantime, Killian and Gandra will be in charge,"

Her pack looked at her, she looked at her other deltas, "Abram, Nikla, and Carthli. You come with me."

The three deltas followed the alpha. The second they left their territory, they all transformed into wolves and ran off to the beach. The beach is the only place that doesn't belong to either pack. The alphas and their respective deltas stood there, Julian and hers joined. They only waited a few minutes before the last two alphas arrived.

"Why are we here?" asked a male alpha. Maxar, a close friend of Julian.

"Julain called us," said a female alpha, Bethel, "so, Julian, why are we here?"

She rubbed her hands and stood with her chest raised. Everyone stood there in the nude, waiting on her to speak. "Okay. We have a serious issue, the vampires are at it again. They're killing our kind,"

"And what do you want, Julian? To start a war?" Maxar asked.

"Maxar's right," chirped a female alpha, "vampire's have many clans, and subgroups. Starting with them could end badly for us."

Count Dracula is the alpha above all vampire's. But one thing that no one knows is that he created more than just vampire's. And in total they all outnumber the rest of the creatures. Combined.

Silence fell on all. Via's eyes swoll up, "not if we align with the witches, or other creatures?"

"An enemy of the vampires. Who would that be?" asked Stassie. The newest alpha, who became an alpha about five years ago when she slayed her previous alpha in his sleep.

Killian snorted, "who wouldn't it be?"

Everyone looked at him. The deltas in shock and the alphas with disgust. No delta is allowed to speak in meetings, they're supposed to be basically not there. He felt the eyes on him and lowered his head in shame.

"Warlocks," Stassie said.

Catherine tucked her red unruly hair behind her ear. "Vampires and witches have a close relationship, so us working with warlocks or other magic beings, would kind of be, useless."

The alphas hit a stumbling block again. Looking around at one another in utter silence.

"I've got it," said Maxar, "I've met an alien a few months ago, Alexir. He is from a planet that runs on eletricry and moved here, we could align with aliens. The vampire's won't know what hit them."

The alphas gleamed. They all loved the idea.

"Sweet," Bethel said, "now the vampires can stop killing us,"

Julian rubbed her upper arms, "yeah. The look on the faces of the bodies,"

"the deep cuts on the chests," added Bethel.

Catherine looked at everyone, "how could it be vampire's?"

"Who else?" Julian asked.

Catherine shook her head, "no. The attacks also happen during the day, plus... no blood was drawn from the bodies. Trust me, we're dealing with something else. Something truly evil, something that's hunting for fun."
