Chapter 44 - You!.

"YOU!" Zhian's voice echoed through the darkness, filled with surprise and disbelief as he laid eyes on Ziyad, who sat slumped on a nearby bench, his face buried in his hands, tears streaming down his cheeks.

Raising his head at the sound of Zhian's voice, Ziyad's eyes met Zhian's gaze, his own orbs bloodshot and swollen from hours of relentless weeping.

"What are you doing here, and why... why are you crying?" Zhian inquired, his voice laced with genuine concern as he observed Ziyad's distressed state.

"That's none of your business, just leave me alone, or are you here to make fun of me," Ziyad retorted, his tone defensive as he averted his gaze, attempting to conceal his vulnerability.

As Ziyad made to depart, Zhian reached out and gently pulled him back, refusing to let him retreat into solitude.

"What is wrong? Who made you cry? You know, sharing your problems can lighten the burden on your heart," Zhian remarked softly, his touch comforting as he wiped away the tears that continued to trickle down Ziyad's cheeks.

" Mm, tell me what is wrong, I never expected to see someone like you in this kind of state and that proves that the matter is a serious one, so tell me, I might be able to help" his calm voice said, and after what he said Ziyad started crying again

"Come on, it's okay, stop crying. You can tell me what's going on," Zhian urged gently, his voice a soothing balm to Ziyad's troubled soul.

"I don't know what to do. He doesn't believe me. Instead, he believes that cheat he calls his wife. I'm still trying to tell him... but he keeps calling me a liar. I'm fed up," Ziyad confessed, tears streaming down his face as he rested his head on Zhian's chest, soaking it with his anguish.

"Who are you talking about? Your boyfriend?" Zhian inquired, his voice tinged with concern.

"No, it's my brother. He's just so dumb that I don't know what to do anymore. He never believes anything I say because he thinks I was the one who killed our parents. Since our parents died... I've never been happy. I've been lonely. People just see me smile, but they don't know it's all fake. Deep down, I'm hurting so much. No one took care of me again. No one loves me. No one ever asked how I've been... Instead, all they do is blame me, curse me, say all sorts of mean words. I can't take it anymore. I just can't. I can't act strong anymore. I also want to be cared for, someone to ask me how my day was and all of that... I... I just don't know what to do," Ziyad poured out his heart, closing his eyes as he buried his face in Zhian's chest, hugging him tightly.

As Ziyad rested his head on Zhian's chest, a whirlwind of thoughts stormed through his mind. "What the heck is this guy up to? Who the hell is he? Why would he just suddenly want to console me? I can't just trust a stranger! In my entire life of existence, he will be the first being to knock me out, so I need to be really careful. He's somewhat powerful," he advised himself silently, his thoughts mingling with the scent of Zhian's calm presence.

Raising his head to meet Zhian's gaze, Ziyad couldn't shake off the lingering doubt. "Wait a minute, why are you being nice to me? The last time you knocked me out because I talked too much, so why are you willing to listen to me today?" he questioned, his eyes reflecting a mixture of curiosity and suspicion.

Zhian's response was measured, his gaze unwavering as he looked down at Ziyad. "I don't... know... It looks like you need someone to talk to, so I think I might be of help," he offered, his voice carrying hint of concern
