Chapter 37 - Lovey-Dovey

"Master Zuka, our plan has failed. That guy named Ziyad is really creepy. Our plan didn't work," one of the potential guards named Zia informed Zuka, who was being massaged by Zara.

"Hahaha, I know you guys can't handle him. He's a bastard. Thinks he's the most powerful. I just sent those guards to let him know that war has started. I'm waitin' for Zhian to be back from the Zen Clan. He'll be the one to take care of him. You have to fight fire with fire," Zuka replied, his words making Zia and Zara laugh mischievously.

Hmmm.... who is Zhian?.

"You are too smart, Zuka. Your way of thinking is unpredictable. That guy named Ziyad should be ready to meet his doom," Zara remarked, her admiration evident in her tone.

"Of course, he is about to face his doom. You're the best, Master Zuka," Zia chimed in, echoing Zara sentiment.

"And also, I want Velverosa [ Abigail] back here. I think that girl has fallen for that bastard. She's not doing what I told her. I've got another plan. I see that idiot has fallen so hard for her, so if we bring her here in the form of a kidnap, that will make him come over here to save her, and then we will shoot the shot," Zuka explained his plan, his voice dripping with malice.

"Yeah, that's right, that's the best thing to do," Zara complimented, her voice filled with agreement.

"I told you that girl is a betrayal. I knew she would do something like this," she added, her tone laced with disdain for Velverosa.

"We have to double things up. The night of the full blue moon is getting near," Zuka informed, his words carrying a sense of urgency.

" Yes sir, I will go inform the rest about what you've said" Zia said bowing his head as he walked out.

....

Two days later

Lucky was seated on his swivel chair in his office, meticulously sorting through piles of files. Suddenly, he felt a light tap on his shoulder.

Startled, he glanced back, expecting to see someone behind him, but the space was empty. Dismissing it as his imagination, he returned to his work.

Yet, moments later, the sensation returned, this time on both shoulders simultaneously. With a sinking feeling, Lucky realized who it was.

When he didn't respond or react, the tapping came again, more insistent this time. Lucky finally spoke, his voice low and edged with annoyance.

"Ziyad," he called out, his words prompting a familiar, silly laugh to echo through the room as Ziyad emerged into view.

"Wassup, bro? How's life treating you?" Ziyad greeted, patting Lucky's shoulder with a feigned camaraderie before casually taking a seat in front of him.

"What do you want this time? And don't you dare cause any trouble," Lucky warned, his tone sharp and eyes narrowing.

"That's none of my business," Ziyad retorted with a smirk. "I just want you to know that the Black Dragon is bringing war. They came to me yesterday and nearly killed me, but they didn't get the chance."

Lucky leaned back, crossing his arms. "Do something yourself. That's none of my business."

Ziyad's grin widened. "Oh, it will be your business soon enough, brother. Whether you like it or not, they're not just after me. They're after anyone close to you, and that includes Abigail."

" You are a fool, that's none of my business, idiot, no one can touch my Abigail" he abused

"They will just kill you, Lucky. That Abigail of yours will put you in grave danger. You think if war happens, you won't get involved? You're dreaming. Do you know how the officials and the rest of the higher-ups are expecting you to act? If I were a witch, I would have cursed you a long time ago," Ziyad spat out, frustration clear in his voice.

Lucky's eyes darkened. "Is it me you're talking to like that?"

"Whether it's you or not, that's your problem," Ziyad shot back. "From today, I won't get involved in your matters again. I'm sure you know what they want, and it's with you. Yesterday, they came to me because I was protecting you. But no more. I don't want to die."

Lucky glared at Ziyad. "Fine. Do as you please. But remember, if you turn your back on me now, there's no going back."

Ziyad stood up, a bitter smile on his face. "I've made my choice. Good luck, brother. You'll need it."

"Ziyad, shut up!" Lucky snapped.

"You shut up! You don't know anything," Ziyad shot back, his voice seething with anger. "Keep on with your stupid lovey-dovey nonsense. You'll soon know the real score. Listen or don't, it's up to you now. I have nothing to do with you anymore." With that, he vanished without another word.

Lucky slumped back in his chair, frustration and worry etched on his face. "Ziyad, what the hell is wrong with you? Damn it, what am I going to do?" he whispered to himself.
