Chapter 17 - BACK OFF!.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she heard Richard's voice in the distance. "Where the hell is she?" His furious tone made her aware that he wasn't alone. Panic set in as she realized this might be the end for her. Her vision was blurring, making it hard to see. Just as she tried to take another step forward, someone grabbed her and pulled her back, causing her to bury her face in his muscles chest.

She felt a surge of fear as her heart skipped a beat, the thought of being caught by Richard sending shivers down her spine. But as she lingered a little longer, the scent emanating from the person holding her made her pause. It was nothing like Richard's toxic scent. Instead, it was cool and calming, a mixture of rain and mint that brought a sense of comfort amidst the chaos.

Allowing her brain to calm down enough to register the scent coming from the guy, she subconsciously called out a name.

"Lucky," she called, and he gently replied with a soft "mm." She didn't know why she felt relieved hearing his voice, even though she didn't know how he got there.

Hugging him tightly, she inhaled his comforting scent. But how did he got there she didn't know.

"What are you doing outside so late at night?" his voice carried a hint of concern as he gently patted her hair.

"Please help me," she pleaded, hugging him tightly. His frown deepened as he heard her words, feeling her cling to him even tighter as the voices of Richard and his gang grew louder. "He... he is going to kill me and I d-don't want that, I don't wanna die" she confessed, her grip on him becoming even more desperate.

"Boss have found her!" one of Richard's thugs yelled as he ran towards Lucky and Abigail, prompting the rest to follow suit.

Richard halted as he reached the spot where they were, his eyes narrowing as he saw Abigail hugging an unknown man.

"Who the hell are you?" Richard asked, his voice dripping with hostility as he stared at Lucky with a deadly gaze. Despite the warning in Lucky's eyes, Richard ignored it and pressed on.

" I said who the hell are you" He shouted when lucky didn't answer him

With a firm yet composed demeanor, Lucky's words carried an undertone of authority. "My identity is of no consequence to you," he stated coolly, his hand still gently comforting Abigail. "But if you value your safety, I suggest you turn away and depart."

"If you don't want to ruin that handsome face of yours tonight, I suggest you kindly give the girl to us," Richard demanded. Lucky's lips curled into a calm yet deadly smile, causing his dimples to faintly appear.

"You still have a chance to escape," Lucky advised calmly. Richard ignored his words and walked closer, attempting to drag Abigail away, but his hand was stopped in mid-air as it was caught by Lucky.

"Who gave you the right to touch what's mine? Touch her and you will die," Lucky's deep voice growled, his gaze piercing into Richard like daggers, sending chills down his spine.

"I kindly advise you now to go back to your mommy, because by the time you start crying, she won't be here to save you," Lucky warned, yanking Richard's hand and making him stumble back.

"Are you okay, Abi?" he asked.

"Please take me away from here," she replied in a pleading tone.

"I'm not ready to fight tonight. It's late, and she needs to rest, you've caused enough already" he said casually, as if the situation they were in was nothing. He picked her up, turned his back to them, and started walking away.

"What's all this joke? Do you think we are joking here?" Richard yelled as he brought out his gun and pointed it at Lucky.

"One more step and you will drop dead," Richard threatened, his voice laced with menace. But Lucky stopped and turned to him, a smile playing on his lips as he responded, "Is that a promise?"

" It's more than a promise" Richard said angrily

"Pass your boundaries this night and see who will drop dead," he grunted, his gaze piercing as he stared down Richard, no hint of a smile on his face this time.

"Are you scared that I might kill you? | promise if you take that bastard away from here, I will make sure | kill the two of you," Richard spat out, his words dripping with venomous intent.

"I hate people who dare me," Lucky

growled between his teeth. He waved his hand towards the darkness behind him, and suddenly, a car roared to life. Its headlights blazed, nearly blinding Richard and his goons as it sped toward them at full throttle. They stumbled back in fear, barely escaping being crushed.

"Hey, what the fuck, are you blind or what?" Richard yelled, his voice tinged with rage and fear. Sweat lined their foreheads as they stumbled back from the oncoming car. Dylan stepped out of the car and opened the back door for Lucky. With gentle care, Lucky lifted Abi and settled her into the car seat before closing the door and straightening up, his expression unreadable amidst the tension.

"| told you to back off easily, but you

didn't listen. You prefer it this way,

huh?" Lucky calmly said as he rolled up his sleeve and pulled Richard towards him. "| TOLD YOU TO BACK OFF!" he reiterated, delivering a heavy slap that knocked two of Richard's teeth loose, filling his mouth with blood.

His movement was so fast that Richard was not able to defend himself.
