Chapter 65 - W2: Once upon a tail (1)

“Feral~!” A shrill voice called out, beautiful and songlike, and could make even unicorns gallop in glee.

“Ugh…” A body wrapped around tightly like a mummy’s groaned from underneath the pillars of cloths. They were within a medium-sized room colored blue with several aqua drawings and designs on the wall; if one was to look deeply, one would be shocked at its aesthetic complexity with how it all combined to sketch a beautiful ocean with splashes, ripples, and lovely aquatic creatures on the wall.

“I know yesterday was a blast Feral but you might consider crawling out of your bed and fixing your garden or something, it’s already midday son,” a male voice resounded through the room from the door signifying a presence.

“I know! I know! Am coming ugh!” Feral groaned in annoyance before finally crawling out of his blanket castle.

Feral’s face was furrowed into a frown as he walked towards his bathroom to wash his eyes which were still clouded with sleep.

As the water dripped down his face he looked up towards the mirror, there was a boy with lovely black locks, bangs falling over his face, almond shaped brown eyes that sparkled with a slight redness within and pale color making him that looked so fragile that it seemed would break if mishandled.

With such a look he could easily be thought of as a girl, even his petite size wasn’t of any help and the young male had mourned almost every day because of this.

“How am I going to get a betrothed with this feminine body of mine?!” Feral shouted in rage as he punched at the mirror, shattering the mirror while at the same time bruising his hands and ruining his bandages which were now all bloodied.

‘I’ll have to change them, and while at it ask mum to heal me’ Feral thought as he finally walked out.

Due to constant farm work he always had on bandages, not due to injuries or anything since he mother always healed him, but because he was more comfortable when working with them on.

Feral brushed his teeth and rinsed his hands and legs before throwing on his farm wear, moving outside to get ready for another day of working.

On reaching outside his house was a stunning sight, right in front of the little manor he stayed in were a medium sized garden filled with only flowers and vegetables, twirling flowers, crawling ones, ones as tall as trees mingled with lovely vegetables of various sizes and shapes, large pumpkins, glowing tomatoes, green spinaches and broccoli, ripened onions hidden within the ground but with healthy leaves that screamed its near maturity.

The marguerite lilies swaggered around looking as peaceful as ever, the gandelas beamed at him with its huge eye, the jasmine not being left out spread its pretty white petals and Feral felt his mood liven up a bit.

He plucked up a blue rose which he twirled around his fingers wondering of one day he could woo a lady with them. Blue roses were one of the rarest species of flowers, its rarity only beneath flowers containing magic, this was due to the fact that not just anyone could grow them, as even his mum who was a true elf couldn’t but only special people could, basically the flower was very picky.

Feral plucked out a cucumber which he sank his teeth into, eating as he observed his plants to figure out which routine to start with for the day.

“Alright, time to get to watering!” Feral exclaimed to himself before turning towards the storage facilities to get his tools when he bumped right into a wall, which turned out to be a man.

Feral looked up only for his eyes to meet with homely brown eyes looking down at him sweetly with a soft smile. Before he could stand back and avoid, the man with dirty blonde hair brought down his hands to his hair and ruffled it playfully.

“Ugh! Father!!” Feral complained as he slapped off his hands, glaring at him fiercely with glowing brown eyes which didn’t intimidate the man at all as he only responded as he only leaned down to kiss the growling boy’s head before ruffling up his hair again.

“Feral, try to control your temper more if you truly want us to send you to the human world at this rate your ears will flick out” Kian cautioned his growling son whose ears instantly flinched in shock at hearing this.

“I-is it out already?!” Feral asked panicky, feeling out his ears and after noticing that it was still normal sighed in relief. “Don’t joke like that father” He said with a pout.

“Come on Fey, let’s go have breakfast hm?” Kian said as he took his son by hand leading the gloomy boy along.

“Kay”

Feral bit into a sliced tomato from his meal and instantly his fair face went blue and he bent over in a dramatic hurl.

“Don’t be like that fey, it makes the tomatoes sad, you have to eat them just like the other veggies to show that you love them all equally so they’ll all grow beautiful for you!” A lovely lady with long black hair tumbling to the grassy floor, its length unknown and gorgeous red eyes said with a beautiful smile as she placed another set of tomatoes into his food.

“Mother….don’t want too….blergh” Feral said while throwing off his face and pushing back the food showing serious rejection.

Josephina sighed tiredly, her hand moving towards her hair as she carefully tucked it behind her ears, and then a surprising scene was shown. He ears unlike the normal human ears that was round was slim and pointed, extremely pointed and facing backwards. Her ears flicked up and down just like Feral’s once did, except with normal human ears, before bobbing upwards and left like that as she glared at Feral.

“Feral Nathalie Kian!” Josephina exclaimed with a glare, almost causing Feral’s ears drums to burst from within his ears.

“D-darling, don’t you think you’re being too harsh??” Kian asked in a small voice looking at his poor whimpering figure.

“How can I?! He’s just one year to his coming-of-age ceremony where he’s gonna go out there to find a woman and look how teeny he is….” Josephina suddenly regretted running her mouth so much when she had Feral mutter ‘huh?’

His small figure had always been a sensitive topic to him so now it was mentioned, it was quite normal that he wouldn’t be happy.

“I’m done” Feral said as he stood up from his meal with a frown as he instantly walked out without looking back at his parents.

“Feral!” Josephina who was about to rush after him was held back by her husband, she turned to him confusedly, clear ruby eyes asking why?

“Give him time, you should know that he had been expecting his growth sprout before his birthday which was yesterday, and since there was nothing…he hasn’t really been happy since, he just had to hold it in yesterday but I could see it in his face. Plus he was staring longingly at the ocean so I guessed as much” Kian explained.

“Fine, hope he doesn’t’ do anything stupid thing like trying to go near that river…I shouldn’t have been so hard on him” Josephina muttered as she sulked while playing with her food.

“Its fine, Feral is a smart kid, some tantrum won’t get him to break a rule we’ve always warned him about since childhood. Now, now, calm down, you can go talk it out with him later, for now why not tell me how good my cooking was~?” Kian asked gleefully.

“Feral didn’t notice a thing! Aw, my baby boy has been so sad, he would usually be the first to notice this things first…” Josephina moaned sadly.

“He’s fine…”

[Meanwhile]

“I’m not fine” Feral said with tears in his eyes as he glared at the ocean from the rock he was on, the ocean was a few miles away from his house and on shore was various things like shells and starfishes but most eye-catching was the big rock in front of it that covered one third of the entire shore.

He didn’t know how it somehow got there, all Feral knew was that when he was around seven he came and found it lying around.

“I wish…I had someone to talk with accept them, it’s getting real suffocating” Feral muttered as he stood from the rock, closer to the shore as he neared the river “It’s over there right? Where the mermen are…it would be nice if I could meet a nice merman or even better mermaid. There’re so beautiful….” Feral muttered as if enchanted.

His eyes had laid on one ever since he was young and he nearly fell into the ocean after it if not for his mum holding him back and since then they started monitoring all his movements strictly.

‘It’s been long since they let me go alone with no supervision….’ Feral thought as he looked around nervously.

He wanted to try it, he wanted to do all those crazy things adventurers did in books that freed them from their own box. He also wanted to free himself, because…because…

“It’s so damn suffocating…I wanna leave, just once, just fucking once!” Feral screamed as he lunged towards the river only to stop after a few steps, his clouded eyes filled with tears clearing out as he widened them.

‘What the hell am I doing now? It’s the mermen coming of age ceremony so being in the river around this time is dangerous! How can I be so stupid?! Let’s go back’ Feral thought with a sigh as he stepped out of the ocean….or tried to.

“What the…?!” Feral screamed out as soon as he noticed how thick the water had become like highly dense glue holding down his legs. His face paled as he tried with all his might to take off his leg but was stuck.

“H-help!!!” Feral screamed in fear, hoping anyone, whoever the hell would come out to help him but somewhere he knew that none would because…he was so far from home! Too far for his voice to get through unless he had magic and if he did then his leg wouldn’t be this stuck!

“Fuck!” Feral cursed out before giving it his all to pull his leg out when he suddenly heard a ripple and felt his heart sink, he shifted his eyes rigidly towards the sound only to see a scaly fingers stretch out from the within the ocean and felt his heart give up on him.

“He-“ Feral tried to scream again as he got dragged from upwards and into the deeper parts of the oceans, he kicked, stretched, shook his entire body, trying all he could to get rid of the hands as he did.

Feral’s eyes was dimming and his strength was weakening, he had never been a good swimmer and now he was being dragged through the ocean with water flowing into his mouth and nose he felt the dreadful feeling of suffocating and was losing his strength.

His eyes was dimming but even as his strength faded, in his mind he still called out quietly….

‘P-please….anyone….help’
