Chapter 60 - Extra: Under the midnight blues {2} (Rita x Jean) [Alternate Universe]

Rita trembled, her heart and body really did, not in fear but in excitement, her heart had never beat so loud before as it was doing, her entire being was shivering from the excitement…. the excitement of seeing Jean save her, he was here for her after all!

The male that was hovering over her suddenly stood up as he glared at Jean-

“What did you do to my men?” the thug asked.

“Killed them all,” Jean said leisurely as he played with the knife on his hands, the glove he wore caressing blood out of the bloody knife.

“Why would you do that? Do you not fear the law?” the thug asked while trembling, this time raising his voice a little louder.

“Because you have my woman and for the same reason why you aren’t scared of the law, just as you hid her here to rape her without fearing the law, this place will also make a perfect place to dispose of bodies. You see, I purposely lured all of them in the basement side so I wouldn’t have to bother carrying their corpses in here later. It was almost cute how easy it was to do so,” Jean explained charismatically.

Rita couldn’t help but wonder if his acting skills were somehow helping him act this psychopathic killer attitude well or he was it was just his true nature.

“Why would you….” The thug started but shut up the instant he noticed just how close Jean was suddenly unto him, in less than a second, he was right in front of him! Was this speed truly a human’s?

“Are you seriously gonna ask? You dull? Or just plain stupid as fuck? It’s of course so I could burn you all easily after am done,” Jean said as he slashed the thug’s throat even before he could react.

All he could do was gurgle and suffocate on his own blood as he fell down in terror, bleeding to death and it was over just like that.

Jean deftly removed his gloves while glancing at Rita at intervals, as soon as he pulled off his gloves, he ran towards her and pulled her into a hug. He sighed heavily as he took off his suit’s Jacket and placed it on her.

“But you’re wearing only a short-sleeve shirt, you’ll get cold….” Rita muttered but was interrupted when Jean kissed her slightly before finally letting go.

“Let’s go, my assistant is waiting outside, as soon as we’re out, he’ll put this place in flames,” Jean said as motioned outside.

“He’s not gonna report?” Rita asked worriedly.

“Trust me, he’s seen worst, and am still a free citizen,” Jean said nonchalantly with a smile.

‘What’s that even supposed to mean =_=’ Rita thought suspiciously as she glared at Jean who smiled back at her.

“Hm, let’s go…” Rita muttered only to notice that she could barely move her legs probably from shock, "Sorry... wow…!” She however suddenly exclaimed the next minute as Jean scooped her into his arms as they left.

“Don’t stress yourself, I’ll take care of you from this point onwards,” Jean said as he walked out.

Minutes later, Rita was looking out of the car’s window as the basement went out in flames, soon people would call the cops but it would have been too late, all evidence had been neatly disposed of, even the taxi they had used to kidnap her was on flames too.

She had also tossed in her phone the thugs had taken for extra measures and soon they were off as the fire cackled under the dark night.

“Huh? We’re not at your place?” Rita muttered as she stepped out of the car.

“No, I wanted to let you see this,” Jean replied as he pulled her into the open fields, looking upwards.

Rita did too and was stunned beyond measure, her jaws agasp in shock, the night sky was littered and packed with millions of constellations, Rita had gone star gazing before but she had never seen this amount of stars gathered in one night.

The sky was covered in a clothing of stars, how lucky, and you probably couldn’t make out a single portion of it not filled with stars. It was no wonder why the night was so bright with that amount of beauty.

“It’s beautiful Jean…. so beautiful…. but what is the meaning of this Jean?” Rita muttered as she looked away from him.

“It’s our anniversary today,” Jean said with a soft smile as he softly caressed Rita’s cheeks only to have his hand slapped off.

“But we’ve broken up,” Rita said.

“Ah… so you still want a break huh?” Jean stated obliviously, “I’ll give you as much space as you want but you should really come back soon, my patient is awfully limited, don’t make me tie you to me, Rita.”

“Huh?”

“With marriage of course.”

“Huh?! You insane bastard! Don’t you know what it means to break up?!” Rita exclaimed as she shoved at Jean.

“Erm… a pause in a relationship so that another level could begin?” Jean answered obliviously with innocent eyes.

“No…! NO! Where the heck did you get that from! A breakup means an end, an end! In a relationship!”

“Yeah so ano….”

“There’s no another beginning, end means end!” Rita shouted in exasperation, making signs with her hands.

“But Rita could never leave me, after all, she loves me so much,” Jean said surely pissing off Rita.

“Fine! If that’s how you’re gonna keep acting then I hope we never met again! I’ll meet some new guy and then invite you to our wedding! You’ll see! Jackass!!” Rita berated as she turned to leave only to be grabbed by the wrist a bit tightly and pulled towards Jean into a hug by her waist.

“If you’re still angry about her then you don’t have to, she was the one who came up to me by force and I’ve already destroyed her. I crashed her business, made her family disown her and now she’s just a homeless street rat so please don’t be angry, I really don’t care about her,” Jean explained softly with a voice that looked like he was about to cry.

“Even at that Jean, you’re too much for me, I can’t handle it, your issues…. Although I love you, I don’t know if I can handle your psychopathic attitude,” Rita explained softly as her eyes watered.

She truly loved him but she knew this love would drive her mad if she didn’t give it up.

“Then I’ll change,” Jean said as he let go of her and looked deep into her eyes “I’ll change into a better man for you Rita and then I’ll propose to you so we’ll get married. After our marriage, I’ll quit acting and fully dive into engineering,” Jean said resolutely as he stared deeply into her eyes, his eyes filled with anxiety and minor fears.

It was like he was scared of Rita’s rejection and he was, ever since Rita left him he had never felt so alone like he was in a deep black abyss. He promised himself every day that she would be back and with each day passing with no Rita, he was drowning more and more into the abyss.

Finally, Rita suddenly pinged him, and even when he called back, she didn’t answer. Although he didn’t understand, he knew something was wrong and instantly after tracing down her location, he came after her.

Rita felt her heart flutter, this was probably the first time she had seen Jean this needy for her, he had always been the calm one and she the active one. Sometimes, she wondered if Jean actually loved her and now she had confirmed it.

He did, but he needed to change some bad habits.

“Then I’ll wait for you,” Rita answered as she stared deeply into his eyes “But I won’t accept it if you don’t change!” Rita berated.

“Don’t worry,” Jean muttered. His sad eyes now glowing as he took Rita’s palms and placed them on his cheeks, smothering them over her palms, his green eyes stared deep into hers as he said seriously-

“I’ll be a good boy from now on.”

“Hng,” Rita hummed as she blushed slightly, he was killing her with that head tilt, too cute.

Eventually, they both sat down as they watched the night stars.

“Rita…”

Under the midnight blues…

“You know, thinking about it… I’ve always proclaimed how I like you….”

With nothing but stars…

“But I have never truly told you…”

Looking deep into her grey eyes, hands caressing her strawberry blond long hair…

“How much I love you,” He said, taking her hands in his.

He finally said it after a whole ass seven years…

“I love you with all of me.”

He said, his green orbs illuminating the night stares, his gaze screamed his affection more than his words and Rita finally noticed just how important he was to him. She had always felt unimportant but at this moment… she had never felt more needed.

“I love you too,” Rita whispered softly.

“Hm?” Jean asked

“I-I love you too!!” Rita exclaimed but fell with a yelp as she was tackled suddenly to the ground by Jean.

They stared into each other’s eyes as they glued their lips together, with rough smacks, bites, and the sharp taste of blood as the slurping sounds of their kisses filled the air.

Their bodies grinded together and Jean was a minute from taking his clothes off when…

“No more, until… you fulfill your promise” Rita managed to gasp out, cutting off Jean whose dark eyes were brewing with lust and various other emotions.

“Of course,” He confirmed as he sat up, “I’ll keep my promise Rita so don’t go running off to another man or inviting me to anyone’s wedding or I’ll do a mass murder and kidnap you,”

“You don’t have to boast about how insane you are….”

The duo stared at the stars till the night faded into noon but their love did not….

***

‘Even till now,’ Rita thought happily as she walked towards the altar, hand in hand with Jean. Down where their friends and kids, family too. They cheered them on as the duo got up to the stage.

“Do you Rita Pearls, take Jean Johnson as your lawfully wedded husband, to be together, forever, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, for sickness or health, till death do you part?” the priest asked.

“I do,” Rita said while smiling at Jean who smiled back.

“Then do….” The priest started but was caught off by Jean.

“I do,”

The same thoughts ran through everyone’s minds-

‘So impatient, he did the same thing at the real wedding too ah.’

However the priest not minding proclaimed, “You may kiss the bride.”

Rita and Jean walked towards each other, staring deep into one another’s eyes.

“Happy 10th marriage anniversary, hope you’re no longer into killing people,” Rita said with a smile.

“Likewise,” Jean replied.

“You know you can just calm down a bit and actually say it in words,” she complained.

‘And what do you mean by likewise I’ve never killed.'

“You did kill the old Jean and still killing my bad habits even till now also… I want to kiss you so bad…” he complained back with a pout.

“Fine, then you say it, wish me my anniversary the right way,” she said with a soft giggle.

“Yeah… Happy Anniversary Darling,”

They both leaned in and kissed, sealing their love for each other even after so long.
