"Boss Boss, we have lost too much ammunition lately, and from the calculation of the current storage, we will not last for two more days… or worse, for one day!" A man was kneeling with his head low while he reportedly exclaimed to the man sitting while looking below at him.
Hearing the report, the man clenched a tiny cup – he was holding - made from clay, and before the cup broke from the man's grasp, he threw it furiously to the kneeling man. However, the man didn't even try to dodge it, and the cup freely landed on his head and broke into many pieces, causing him to move left side, while blood was leaking out on his head.
But the man didn't even think of complaining nor shows an expression that he held a grudge against the man who attacked him. Instead, he moved back to his previous position and didn't even try to comfort the pain nor stop the blood from constants leaking.
"Please refrain from doing something that again, Boss. You should know well that making pottery takes a lot of time, and we don't have the resources right now to mass produce." A man standing beside him beseeched.
"Are you ordering me, Nicholas?!" He glared right at him.
He was already enraged from the report of the kneeling man before him, and yet someone ordered him from refraining his actions. Thus, his anger only increased.
"I'm not, boss. I'm only reminding you."
However, the man was still calm as water, while his voice was soft, and replied back to the furious man. The inflame glare of the sitting man continued for a minute, yet the unperturbed man standing didn't mind it, and he did not even bother eyeing him back.
Seeing that he was being ignored, the man sitting was about to feel explode, but he didn't vent it to the man standing beside him. Instead, he turned his head forward, and his eyes landed on the kneeling man before putting his foot on his head for dozens of seconds.
However, the man kneeling didn't even flinch and let the sitting man before him feel contented by rubbing his smelly foot at the back of his head. Thankfully his nose wasn't there, and he forcefully stuck his nose to the ground, causing the valve to be closed under the pressure.
"Leave!"
He shouted to the kneeling man, but before the kneeling man left, he first made a profound bow to the sitting man and to the man standing beside the former; before walking out of the small wooden hut and guarding the entrance. His expression didn't change, and no one knew what he was thinking.
…
"What do you think about the report he made?" The man didn't turn his head to the right and only asked as he was expecting the man beside him to give him an answer that could satisfy him.
"As what he reported to us. The situation is already dire, and adding up the loss of ammunition only added to the hopeless situation. If things get worse, we have no choice but to abandon this human settlement and move to others who had the power temporarily survive this ordeal," He suggested without batting an eyelid.
It turned out that the man standing was more vicious than the one who was currently sitting; for him to be more worried than the cup made by clay than the living man whose head bled shows that he wasn't even merciful to his own kind.
"What about the information I asked you to gather?" He didn't agree with or reject his idea. Instead, he asked for something, as if what he asked was irrelevant to their current situation.
"The Scout I sent has not been returned. Given the time that weeks have passed. The man should have met troublesome on his journey. But you don't have to be worried about it, boss. Since the man I sent had already reached the Initial stage, and the chance of him to gather information and come back here alive to report his findings; had greater possibility than other manpower we currently have," He assured and didn't mind the sudden change of their topic.
"I guess you're right."
He then rested his right arm on the chair, and the chair seems like made from wood, which the wood had the same appearance as the average tree that could be found anywhere in the large forest.
"What about that bloodsucker then? He had already promised us to get rid of that Abomination, right? Did he already act for it?" He asked, while his mind suddenly manifested the black cloak man, similar to the man who made his rampage in the battle scene.
"From the information that I have gathered. The man I sent to observe the Abomination reported that the corrupted nature of that Abomination stopped spreading, and the destruction it left behind slowly gained its life.
It will not be long for the death withered forest to turn its lively nature to normal." He implied and solely conveyed what the man reported to him.
"So he has already concluded the problem. What now? He would come here and pester us to do something vicious to our own kind? He must be dreaming!" He scoffed while his voice was cold and with a hint of irritation mixed within.
Whenever the deal the bloodsucker offered to him manifested in his thoughts, he couldn't help but feel more annoyed. How could he even provide him human livestock, while the latter was his own kind? And he even asked to help him let the Human become Abomination before sending them to him?
Furthermore, aside from kids and older ones taking refuge in this small human settlement. They were only small if divided by the current population stayed in the human settlement. Moreover, he felt that they would not last long anyway. How could they have the power to survive through this ordeal?
While he had these thoughts at the back of his mind, the man standing beside him, who was silent for over a minute, suddenly opened his mouth and said something that made the man sitting on his throne to be furious once more.
"Why don't you consider his offer?"
