The air around the painting room was significantly different during the night. The room wasn't completely dark as the large window was wide open, allowing light from the moon stream into the room. Lenny walked over to the wall, shining her flashlight around it as she looked for the light switch.
Once it was found. She flipped it on. She expected the small yellow bulb to flicker on, but it didn't. It stayed dead, like she hadn't even flipped the switch at all. Lenny sighed with a slight shrugged. She usually loved drawing in a dimly lit room, it helped her imagination.
Lenny walked over to the window and looked out of it. Wind gust past her, swaying her long hair back and forth. It felt nice and Lenny relished in the feeling. She looked down at the backyard. Everything felt and seemed different now that the darkness of the night had shrouded itself around everything.
She looked over to the chain and the tyre, that had caught her attention earlier, but there was something different about it. From what Lenny could see, a person sat on the tyre, moving it in a swinging motion.
Lenny blinked and squinted her eyes. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. The person sitting on tyre was a little girl. Her red shoes and purple floral gown stood out. Her short brown hair was decorated with a black and white polka dot band. Her outfit stood out because of how ridiculously multicoloured it was.
Lenny kept staring at her in awe. She felt like it was all a hallucination, but the girl sitting on the tyre looked so real. How did she get into the backyard? That was the only question Lenny could think about. The clouds covering some part of the moon were moving, illuminating the whole place with more light. Streaks of light graced the little girl and Lenny got a better view of her.
Lenny's eyes went wide. The little girl was transparent. Lenny was dumbfounded. She kept looking, unsure of what she was looking at. The little girl suddenly looked up and made eye contact with Lenny. With reflex, Lenny moved away from the window and crouched to the ground.
Her hands were over her mouth, her eyes wider than they've ever been. In the quiet room, Lenny's resounding heartbeat was all she could hear.
"S-She didn't have any eyes..." Lenny muttered, her mind filled with shock.
The little girl's eye sockets were empty, void of eyeballs. Lenny felt her whole body begin to tremble. A smile was curling up her lips. She had just seen something incredible, something she would've never imagined she'd be able to see in her life time.
Lenny withdrew her hands from her mouth and sighed. Her smile widened as she chuckled. She had finally found something to draw. Picking herself up from the ground, Lenny peered outside the window. The makeshift swing was still moving, but the little girl was no where to be found. Had she hallucinated everything?
Lenny walked up to the canvas. She sat in the chair when she heard the door click open. She stood up abruptly and turned to the direction of the door.
Had she made too much noise? Maybe she had woken up her grandmother when she walked on the creaky floor board. The door swung open slowly, revealing the empty dark corridor. Lenny cocked her head as she examined the door. Who had opened the door? Lenny was sure that the door had been shut tight. There was no way the wind would've pushed the door open.
Lenny felt all the hairs at the back of her neck stand erect. Goosebumps began to spread across her skin as she felt cold air around her. It wasn't coming from the window, but the room door that was slightly ajar.
And then She saw it.
Lenny wasn't sure what it was, but she could clearly see the silhouette of a person standing by the door. It was as if the person had appeared out of thin air.
The silhouette was tall, so tall that the head of the person was barely touching the top of the door. Lenny was intrigued by this. She kept staring at it with wide eyes.
The silhouette began to move closer to her. Lenny's eyes went wide. The person was floating. As the silhouette got closer, all the hair's at the back Lenny's neck stood erect. Her body screamed to her that she should get up and run, but she was frozen in one place.
The silhouette had already closed the distance between them and was looming over her menacingly. Once the silhouette was closer, Lenny was finally able to see the features of it.
The silhouette had long, unkempt hair. It's mouth was wide open. It was smiling and it's rotten pair of teeth showed through the crooked smile.
Lenny stared with wide eyes, her body trembled with fear. The silhouette of the strange entity crackled at her. It stretched it lanky hands towards Lenny and grabbed her wrist.
The grip of her wrist was strong. Lenny let out a loud scream as the entity tightened it's grip around her wrist. It's laughter was louder than her screams. It was enjoying seeing Lenny writhe around in pain.
The entity leaned it's face closer to her and Lenny could see it's mouth move. What was it saying? She couldn't make sense of it. The pain began to overwhelm her and Lenny could feel herself slowly losing all the strength she had.
Lenny couldn't stand it anymore, and passed out from the pain.

Lenny's eyes flew open and she shot up from the bed. She began to frantically look at her surroundings. Lenny could her thumping her, slow down to its normal eating rate when she saw that she was in her room and she was laying down on her bed.
She was in her room?
Lenny blinked and tried to gather her thoughts. Everything that happened yesterday was vivid in her mind. Was it all a dream? Lenny couldn't tell. She looked at her wrist and her eyes went wide at the red marks that surrounded it.
It wasn't a dream.
