The plans to take out the giant mutant Zombie got pushed back. With the Cafeteria and a safe place, after some thought the group agreed that there was no need to leave, even if they wanted to find a QZ or a military zone, that would need a bit more time to happen and time is all they have at the moment.
Board games were easily found, so they had something to do and spend their time on, and with the ocean nearby, they did not lack water to bathe, most likely something others at the moment might envy, other than that, Maggy and Connor would go out to look around the place, bringing any food, water or even anything that is remotely useful, or was that the only thing they were doing?
A door was pushed open as 2 silhouettes barged into an empty room with their hands all over each other. They kept making out and reaching over, trying to help the other take off their clothes. This was Connor and Maggy, on another round of… Scavenging.
Maggy was a very beautiful woman and Connor did not lack any in that department either. Although they met each other not long ago, they couldn't stop what they were doing. Maggy laid on the bed with Connor on top of her, slowly kissing her neck as he started going down her body with every kiss.
After an hour, they both laid there, Maggy was breathing heavily while Connor held her in his embrace. Days passed since the first time they did this and they had been at it everyday, if not twice a day with Connor's superior physique.
At that time, he discovered that whenever he went to sleep and did not wish to go to the other world, he would just wake up the next morning, which was something he was glad to figure out, but he would rarely do that.
Back in the other world, reinforcements arrived not long after they got back, but Connor was safely asleep inside the house, which the guards and Warrior's of the order did not have a reason to search the place. Joshua eventually took care of them, explained that they managed to take the Abomination out, excluding Connor from the sotry of course since he would be arrested and taken in, but the fact that a group of Novices managed to take out an Abomination has earned Joshua and the rest a huge reward that they later insisted on giving it all to Connor.
Later, Connor managed to convince Joshua to send one of the Novices at the farm to guide him to Harbor Town. Since that incident with the Abomination, he was close to everyone there and the Novice gladly took him.
The Novice led him through a dirt road in the middle of the forest, but the strongest monsters that appeared were some Wolves and a few Gnomes which were dispatched easily by Connor.
The way to the Town was complicated. There were many different roads and paths interlinking each other, making Connor understand why Joshua insisted on him not going alone and to stay.
Not long after, the Novice said his goodbyes and left, not forgetting to point Connor in the right direction. There was some more walking still but according to the Novice it was much easier to navigate from here on forth so he left.
Indeed like he said, the path was easy to find, which had Connor walking on it singing to himself. He had been in a great mood recently.
Eventually, a giant wall appeared, going as far into the woods as the eyes could see. This was Harbor town, or at least its outer walls, and after a bit Connor could see a gate in the distance with two guards standing there with spears, looking around vigilantly.
"Finally!" He said, walking towards them. The guards noticed the stranger and held their weapons with two hands, pointing it towards him when he got too close.
"Halt right there!" One of the guards spoke. They wore a red and white mixed armor, their chestplate, shoulders, vambrace and gauntlets were iron or metal of some kind while the rest of it was leather.
"Not an enemy, just someone looking for shelter and safety" Connor held his hands up. Joshua told him that even though Harbor Town works with the Monastery, they only hand over criminals that do something wrong, although even if you're caught just stealing a single apple or beat someone up and take everything they have, both will be sent to the Monastery.
"Another Wanderer…" The guard muttered before looking over to his partner and started whispering something to him, but Connor's hearing was strong enough to barely make out what they were saying.
'What should we do?' one asked.
'Let him in of course'
'What about the order? We're not supposed to let anybody in after the last incident, for all we know he might be another one of those damn Bandits from the swamp!'
'That's true… But if he isn't one of them, wouldn't we be forcing a man to sleep outside the walls? What if he's killed? I don't want anymore blood on my hands Frank'
'Alright alright, calm down, I have an idea!'
"Hey friend, we have orders not to let in anyone anymore unless they have a pass… Do you have one?" Frank the guard asked.
"I don't have a pass, Joshua never said anything about one" Connor said, bringing up Joshua's name on purpose, hoping that these two were familiar with the old man and would do him a favor.
"Joshua? The Head Novice at the farm way back?" Frank asked. "If you two are familiar with each other then maybe we can work something out… But for all I know you might just as well be pretending and barely know the man"
"I don't know how to prove it to you, but you won't let me stay the night outside right? I barely made it here without losing an arm" Connor was trying everything he could think of. He was happy that the guard knew Joshua, but that failed so he was going with the sympathy path… 'Hopefully this'll work' he thought.
"Well… Doesn't matter if you really know the old man or just pretending since not many people know his name in the first place, so how about this… 100 Gold Coins and I'll drop this spare pass I have here, maybe you can pick it up, it's all up to you"
Connor smiled at what he heard, he reached into his Inventory and took out 100 GC without a problem since he had enough Gold Coins to last him a while. "Here you go!"
Frank smiled, grabbing the Coins and splitting them with the other Guard before 'Accidently' dropping a rolled up piece of paper which Connor swiftly picked up and showed it to the guards. "I found my pass, *Phew* Thought I lost it"
The guards laughed and nodded, knocking on the metal gate with their spears. "Open the Gate" Frank yelled.
"1 Minute!" Someone responded from the other side and not long after the iron bars started lifting up before settling with a loud clunk. Another guard appeared, this one wearing all Leather Armor. "Alright, come in quick!" He gestured at Connor with his hand.
"Thanks!" Connor whispered to the two guards as he walked past them, receiving a nod.
"Alright, since i've never seen you before I'll give you a quick Introduction to the Town and the main Laws" The guard, who introduced himself as Sam later said. "Harbor Town got its name obviously because we are a Town with a Harbor, simple right? Sometimes people arrive in here with their boats and ships, curious about the Island and what it contains and everyone passes through here.. Although we have not had any visitors for a while now" Sam shrugged, walking towards the wheel on the wall and started spinning it as he continued talking.
"Many shipwrecks have been appearing near the harbor from somewhere recently, we don't really know what is causing it, so if you have any plans on getting on a ship and leaving this place then you should set them aside for now.. Anyways, we have a lot of fish, so get ready to eat mostly that from now on" He said with a chuckle. "We have a tavern, blacksmith and a butcher in the Town center near the pier. As for the housing, see the houses behind me? The ones that start right after our little guard camp? Those are for the average Citizens, mostly Commoners, and for the people with higher standing, after reaching the Town Center you'll see a road that will take you to their housing area"
"There's only one road?" Connor asked.
"No, we have many but you'll know which one leads to the area where rich people live.. trust me. And in there you'll find an apothecary, another blacksmith which deals with enchanted weapons and only sells to the guards, so you can forget about getting your hands on any.
Other shops and businesses are scattered, but the ones I've told you of are the most popular.. Anyways, now onto the Main Laws" The guard finished closing the gate and looked Connor in the eyes.
"There are 5 things you should never do around here or even the Monastery itself wouldn't take you, which means public execution, there is one that should start in an hour, maybe watching it will make you remove any thoughts about trying anything around here..
First one, Killing is prohibited, you'll not even get a last meal since the guards will put you down like an animal on the spot, so watch yourself and don't go too far in brawls.
Second one, Resisting arrest and fighting against the guards.. Same fate as the murder charge so don't get cocky.
Third one, Causing permanent damage to an innocent person, which means that if you try to rob someone or just start a fight out of nowhere and you cripple them, you'll have the same thing done to you before being thrown into the Dungeon.
Fourth one, Stealing and harming anyone in the upper side of Town, just one bruise or cut and you're done for, especially if they are a sponsor to the Town guards, even if the Monastery wanted you we will not hand you over, so be careful.
And last but not least, helping a criminal locked up in the Dungeon escape will lead to dire consequences, but if you're caught and you give yourself up alongside everyone that assisted you, you'll be given to the Monastery, otherwise we'll keep you until you do or just execute you.
Those are the Main Laws that you should never break, so watch yourself in here"
"There are only 5 Laws?" Connor asked.
"Of course we have more Laws but you're gonna have to read the Town board near the Tavern for all of them.. Anyways, welcome to Harbor Town" Sam said with a gentle smile.
