Chapter 3 - First Dungeon

"How much longer, dude?"

"Umm... Right around here." Ryan answered. The group soon arrived at their college campus, near the library building.

"Dude, you brought us to the damn library?" The bunch of students were clearly not pleased and gritted their teeth as if they were controlling themselves from beating him to a pulp.

But Ryan did not seem to care about that.

He walked into the library hall and used the corridor to arrive at the back door. Both the front door and the back door were closed at this hour. However, that was not his aim.

"Are you serious?" Just as someone was about to grumble again, Ryan showed them the side door, and this one was strangely glowing.

"Fuck, what is this?" Everyone looked shocked.

Now they no longer cared about Ryan or the dog. They had stumbled onto something much more interesting. The thing in front of them was swirling and glowing magically.

While everyone was staring at it, Ryan took the initiative to touch the glowing energy. Immediately, he received a notification.

[Ding. You have discovered a dungeon]

[Ding. You are the first one to discover this dungeon]

[Ding. All experience points gained are doubled]

Ryan grinned. He had actually managed to obtain the first discovery for a dungeon. With this, he can get an amazing headstart to the game, and he can use these numbskulls to clear it.

But just as he was thinking this, the other guys also stared ahead wide-eyed. Ryan had a bad feeling.

"Guys, I got some first discovery bonus. Did you all get it too?" Another guy voiced out loud, making Ryan frown slightly. 'I guess the cat is out of the bag. Never mind, I can still use these guys.'

"Let's enter. We can level up faster." Dante licked his lips.

"Dude, what about him?" Another guy reminded him of Ryan, who they had all conveniently forgotten about.

Dante was about to say something, but he stopped himself and paused for a moment. "Oh! He should also go with us, of course. Ryan was the one who brought us here. Thanks a lot, bud. Come everyone, let's all go inside and check this out."

The other looked confused, but no one questioned Dante. Clearly, he was the leader of this motley group.

Ryan remembered a different hierarchy, but perhaps that came around later. Either way, it didn't matter. He was in, though he had little doubts as to why exactly he was in.

"Ryan, why don't you be the first one to enter? After all, you brought everyone here, so it should be you."Dante promptly and very generously added.

"Right on time!"Ryan chuckled inwardly. These guys were scared to enter an unknown territory and wanted him to test it out first.

"Ah… really? Thank you so much!"He also played the part and then, in front of the group, touched the glowing thing in front of them.

Immediately, the space popped and crackled, and in the next second, Ryna disappeared right in front of everyone's eyes.

"Fuck! Where did he go? The guy disappeared!"

"Shit. This thing is dangerous. Good, we had him test it out first."

"Hmmm…"Dante nodded in contemplation. As everyone backed away from the door, suddenly, Ryan appeared in front of them again, completely unharmed.

"Guys! There is nothing inside? Huh? No one else is coming?" He asked.

Everyone looked shocked. "We can go in and come back out?"

"It looks like it?"Ryan scratched his head. Hearing this, everyone felt a little more comfortable and started approaching the glowing swirl.

Finally, Dante took a deep breath and entered the dungeon portal. Immediately, everyone else followed, and at last, Ryan stepped in. "Now we start." he grinned.

Meanwhile, on the other side…

"What is this place?" Everyone craned their heads to look around. It seemed like an old musty cave, and the lighting was horrible. The only light that came was from the swirl of energy at the door.

"Anyone has a torchlight?"Ryan broke the silence first.

He saw one of the guys carry one earlier, but the person was so shocked that he hadn't taken it out. Only after he reminded him he hurriedly took it out of his pocket.

"Turn it on," Dante said, and the person did that, only to shriek loudly like a thirteen year old girl. Unexpectedly, his torchlight was directly pointed at a spider, a particularly big one.

The bunch of students stared at the spider, and the spider stared at them, both sides completely frozen still. Neither side was making any moves.

But suddenly Ryan ran over to the spider. He had a rock in his hands, and he did not hesitate to beat the spider with it.

He brought it down on the spider swiftly and smoothly as if he had done this a hundred thousand times before.

Everyone stared at him in shock, anger, and fear. For all they knew, this guy had just signed their death warrant. After all, the big spider did not look cute and cuddly. It looked terrifying!

The guys at the back even started to get out of the dungeon, but unexpectedly when Ryan started hitting the spider with the rock, it skittered and screeched a little and eventually got flattened to a paste.

He just kept hitting it, and the spider never got a chance to fight back. The danger was averted easily. This made everyone else feel slightly better, and once they did, they realized something else.

Dante cleared his throat. "Ryan, you need to stay back. It's not safe to act harshly. So did you get any experience points?"

"Ah… Sorry about that." Ryan scratched his head. "Experience points… I got some… like 20."

Everyone immediately looked disgruntled. That should have belonged to them.

"Alright, you can stay back now." Dante spat out and then added, "I mean, we will protect you. Let's go. Hey, show that torchlight properly. Let's see if there are more spiders."

Everyone picked up a stone and started walking deeper into the cave-like place, and Ryan stood at the end with a big predatory smile on his face.

He didn't like to carry around grudges, so this one, he planned to settle it right here and now.
