Chapter 4 - Slaughter

"Hey! I found a spider here!" One guy shouted, and the others quickly ran over to him. Dante and two others started smashing the spider haphazardly, and soon the spider was simply a green paste.

"10 exp. Not bad." The three of them grinned. This was the fifth spider they had spotted and killed, and things were becoming easier by the second.

Except for Ryan, every single one of them was killing spiders, everything that came into their eyesight, and when Ryan tried to take the initiative, the group immediately asked him to stay back and be safe.

Ryan, however, did not look frustrated. His minions were doing the work for him, so who was he to say no to free labor. He silently followed as the group continued to walk along the passageway.

By the time they took the third turn, almost all of them were covered in green colored blood of the spiders. They had killed so many, about twenty to thirty, and one person was even close to leveling up.

"Bro, you should be the first one in the whole world to level up!"

"Yes, yes, everyone is still figuring out what is all this, but we are already close to leveling up. Damn, we are going to be the king of this world! woo!"

"Wooo!"

"Wooo! Wooo! Wooo!"

Ryan silently stood and watched the group of idiots howling loudly. 'Should be anytime now..." He chuckled inwardly and even joined in the howling.

A few more minutes and some more spiders later... the first one started to sway. "Hey. I am feeling a bit faint." The guy then dropped to the ground without another word.

Everyone else was dumbstruck as they stared at this sight. Finally, Dante spoke up, "Hurry, we need to take him to a hospital." However, not long after he spoke, the next and the next and the next one as well fainted and collapsed.

Four out of seven of them had fallen on the ground!

"Hey! What the hell is happening here? Damn it. I am also feeling dizzy."

"Something weird. My whole body is itching."

At this point, feeling that something was just not right, the remaining three turned to look at Ryan. "Hey, did you do something-"

Thud. Thud. Thud. Now, all the seven guys were down.

"Heh. That was fast." Ryan grinned happily and squatted next to Dante, who was writhing on the ground. "Yes, you are right, buddy." He said, stressing that last part.

"I indeed did something. I forgot to tell you that the spider's blood is poisonous. Oops. My bad. Well, it's too late now." He stood and shrugged.

"Maybe not too late. I can still carry you seven or at least two of you to the nearby campus hospital, but... I don't want to. It's such a time waste."

"Like you said, while the others are still trying to figure things out, I should hurry up and do some leveling. Goodbye. It was not nice knowing you guys, but it feels good to send you off personally."

Ryan whistled, and in front of Dante's eyes, the same husky limped and ran over to him. It seems that the dog had been following them all this time.

The dog growled at Dante, but Ryan shook his head. "Let's go, buddy. The spider's venom will take care of him. We have work to do."

Ruff! Ruff!

The duo then headed further in, Ryan picking up a newer rock that was slightly bigger. Unlike those idiots, he was not concerned about the few spiders. In this new world, there was no shortage of monsters to grind.

Soon, another three spiders came out, and Ryan swiftly dealt with them.

His movements were a lot more fluid and confident compared to the bunch of newbies. Even though there were three spiders, all three of them were taken care of in a couple of seconds.

"You... how are you fighting this well?" A voice sounded behind him.

It looked like Dante was still not down and was crawling on the ground. Looking at this, Ryan clicked his tongue, "You seem to be slightly resistant to venom? I don't like loose ends."

Ryan walked back to the spot where everyone had collapsed on the ground. He then lifted the stone to bring it down on all of them one after the other, painting the whole area red with carnage.

...

...

...

"Damn, even the spiders gave more experience points." Ryan would have done this in the first place, but the reason why he didn't do that was...

[Ding. You have killed friendly targets. You are now marked]

Along with the system prompt, a big skull mark magically appeared on his head.

"Well, this was bound to happen sooner or later." Ryan let out a sigh and kept moving in.

Now that everything else was settled, he decided to take care of the main reason he was here, to get his first battle pet!
