"Bastard feel my punch!!" Kento shouted while throwing a punch at Luke.
When Luke was about to turn to Kento his face was hit by Kento which caused Luke to fall a few meters from where he was standing.
"Haah… Kento didn't I tell you to calm down?" Said Captain Daniel who was right in front of him.
"No problem Captain, just leave the uncle." Luke replied to Captain Daniel as he was about to restrain Kento.
"Stand up kid." Kento said to Luke while helping him get back on his feet.
"Sorry uncle for making your motorbike scratched." Luke said as he stood up with help from Kento.
"It's okay, I've stopped thinking about it because my motorcycle only scratched a little."
Just as Luke and Captain Verin were about to board the armored vehicle they saw a convoy of armored cars approaching them from within the walls.
"Looks like new problems will add up." Captain Daniel replied when he saw the convoy approaching them.
"Ainswald I want you to be quiet this time and just follow what I'm told because, I really don't want to add to the problem because this will only make things complicated."
"I understand Captain."
The convoy approached them and formed a circle around them. The convoy stopped and several people got off the armored vehicle. Seen a middle-aged man along with two people out of the armored vehicle. Immediately, the three of us saluted the middle-aged man because on both his shoulders there was one star-shaped rank symbol on both shoulders.
"Relax, gentlemen." Said the middle-aged man.
"Brig. Gen. Faust why do you bother being here?" Captain Daniel asked the middle-aged man known as Brigadier General Elrik Faust.
Brigadier General Faust is the commander of the south gate guard and a brilliant perkid in managing defensive strategies since he became the south gate commander not a single vampire has managed to break into the south gate because of the greatness of Brigadier Faust. And this old man was the head of the Faust family which was one of the four noble families.
"What's your name kid?" Brigadier General Faust asked Luke with a smiling face.
"Private Luke Ainswald sir." Luke said as he stood up briskly.
"Verin, I didn't expect you to have such a passionate young man."
"Thank you for your compliment, sir."
"During my time as commander of the south gate this is the first time I have heard such words."
"I, as the captain, am very sorry for the impudence of my member, General."
"It's okay Daniel, I like the kid's thinking, but you know what? This old man who was nearing his retirement could only watch. I had long since stopped thinking about what freedom meant. When I was his age I always looked up at the sky and I saw only a dome, when I looked around me I only saw towering walls. Every day I always think about the meaning of freedom and without realizing it a lot of time has passed and I am not young anymore. Slowly I forgot the meaning of freedom and just went with the flow like I do now."
Everyone was silent without a word coming out because of Brigadier General Elrik Faust's words.
"Freedom, those are words I have forgotten for a long time. When I heard this boy's words I again realized what freedom means. But, you know I'm old and my time has passed. I thank the private Ainswald for reminding me of the meaning of freedom I seek. But, even though I've found it. My time is over. Kid, I leave to you the purpose and meaning of freedom."
"S-sure sir." said Luke. Even though this old man was one of the nobles, he always found out what freedom was. But, it seems that maybe because he was constrained by his noble life, he forgot his original goal of joining the vampire hunter corps.
"Hahaha…sorry, looks like this old man talks too much."
"No problem Brigadier Faust." Said Captain Daniel trying to melt the slightly awkward atmosphere. Indeed, the Captain was a very unsuitable perkid to lighten the mood because the man could only emit a flat and cold tone of voice coupled with an expressionless face.
"Well then this old man must return, I wish you that freedom kid. And it also seems like I don't need to take you to court for violating your superior's orders. Daniel I leave all this matter to you."
"Okay sir."
The three of them saluted at the same time Brigadier General Faust and saw him climb into his armored vehicle with two of his bodyguards.
"Ainswald thank you to the old man because of him, you didn't get out of the vampire hunter squad and don't think you can get out of punishment like that because you have to cool your head in prikid for three days." Captain Daniel said that to me. Luke and Captain Daniel boarded the armored vehicle and Kento rode on his motorbike.
"Alright, cool your head for a few days here Ainswald."
Luke stood in the prikid without saying a word to Captain Daniel and he only saw the man who was the captain of his squad slowly walking away from the holding cell that seemed like no one had occupied it for a long time. Shabby mattresses and mossy cell walls and rusty iron bars.
"There's no point in complaining." Luke said that and started to sit on the shabby bed.
Only the moonlight illuminates his cell and it seems the night sky is very beautiful when he looks through the window of the prikid which is very small in size. While he was still watching the full moon, slowly the light from an approaching lantern illuminated the cell he was in. He looked towards the source of the light and found that Charlotte and Charles had come to see it.
"Do you like your new place?" Charles asked me in a relaxed tone.
"Yeah I like him so much, that I don't want to get out of this cell." Luke replied to Charles' joke with his casual.
"Luke, I brought you some food." Charlotte replied as she opened the cell box used to provide food for the prikiders.
"Thanks Charlotte I really appreciate it." Luke took his dinner ration from the box.
"I didn't think you would do something like that, my friend. Really, I really respect you."
"I thank you for your words and actions when I wanted to help the refugees."
"No problem, it's only natural that teammates help each other."
"Charlotte how is that woman's baby?" Luke asks Charlotte about the baby's condition.
"Don't worry, the baby is fine and currently the baby is being examined at the hospital."
"Is that so…"
Upon hearing this Luke felt very relieved that the baby was okay. But his feelings are currently mixed because he failed to save the other refugees.
