Chapter 188 - Leaving the empty city

Between the trees there were noticeable paths made of stones that led to the side; among the stones there was noticeable grass that made its way through them. Examining the trees and plants, I got the impression that I was in Avelei Park.

Trying to find the top of the tower through the foliage and went towards it. Looking with interest at the park of avelei, I found benches on which to rest, some had collapsed over time, and some of the white metal were still intact.

Feeling my legs hurt from walking and descending the mountain, I sat down on it with great caution and enjoyed the rest for a while.

Looking at the sky, it was noticeable that the day was gradually beginning to turn into evening.

I had no desire to check whether there were night residents in this city, so I got up and headed towards the tower.

There were noticeable lanterns that were located along the path that I was walking; gradually the path began to become wider and at the end a large stone arch could be seen.

Passing through it, I saw a tower, as I noticed from afar, some moments of the city were depicted on it or everything related to the Avelei race, I didn't know.

To my right was a large dry fountain, next to it was a monument and next to it were small lanterns.

Looking at the monument which was made of the same stone as the walls of the city on which was depicted either a hero of the Avelei race or perhaps their ruler.

He was different from how I imagined the race. Thanks to this unusual stone, the monument has not lost its beauty and time has not affected it.

The representative of the Avelei was tall, his gaze was directed into the distance and his serious face on which there were strange small feathers that covered his entire face except his lips on which a slight smile was noticeable.

He was dressed in simple clothes, but on his belt hung a blade in a sheath; one of Abel's hands rested on the hilt and the other hand was lowered along his waist.

Examining his face with interest, I noticed that his nose was pointed like a bird's beak and his eyes reminded me of the predatory look of a bird before an attack.

Walking around behind him, folded wings were visible that came from his back. Remembering that they would be one of the races I would be, I shook my head.

If now there were questions about me because of my magic, but for everyone I was a half-elf and many suspicions disappeared because of this.

But it will be impossible to explain to them how the half-Avel appeared long after the departure of this race.

Looking down at his hands, I had the feeling that my vision was deceiving me; between his fingers there were small feathers that merged with the fingers.

Frowning, wanting to confirm my suspicions, I turned my gaze to the other hand, which was gripping the hilt of the blade.

There, too, feathers were visible between the fingers, from those books and ballads that they told me, I did not remember any mention of this.

Is it possible that there were some deviations within this race? Or was this a distinctive feature of rulers? Judging by the appearance of Avel depicted on the monument, I doubted that he was just one of the representatives of this race.

Turning my gaze to the tower and slowly approaching it, I looked with interest at the image that stretched from bottom to top.

From the images, I was surprised to understand that these drawings described in great detail the history of the Avelei race.

The drawings that I saw were the beginning of their story about how they changed not only spiritually but also externally.

There were two figures standing in the image, one of them had his head bowed in front of the other.

The figure looked like a huge bird, strange reflections of magic emanated from the feathers of the bird.

The other figure looked like a human or a representative of another race, dressed in strange clothes and holding a staff in his hand.

No matter how hard I tried, I could not see the face of this figure; I had a suspicion that the figure was Lun'Gi.

Is it possible that the Aveli deliberately did not show the face of their god in the drawing? Turning your gaze to another drawing, you could see how the avels began to change; their size began to decrease.

The feathers that once adorned their entire body fell down and gradually they began to look more similar to representatives of other races.

I was wondering why the wind goddess did this? Each drawing was an imprint of the history of the Aveli, the higher I looked up the more I learned about this race. As I thought, outwardly they were all different.

In the drawings, not all Avels had feathers on their faces; basically, many only had a nose that resembled a beak. I felt my neck starting to hurt, but I was immersed in these beautiful drawings.

At that moment I regretted that I did not have the opportunity to get into the air. I wanted to go up and see the whole history of the avelei, but I did not have the opportunity to do so now.

Trying to tear myself away from the drawings, I went to the door and tried to open it, but as I expected, it was locked.

Having tried to damage the door with magic, I was surprised to find that the door was absorbing my magic. Having examined it again, I did not see any damage on it.

Having tried to force the door down, but it did not give in, having tried a couple more times with magic and force, I understood that this would only lead to a loss of time.

After another glance at the statue and the tower, I went back to the exit from this city. On the way back to the exit from the city.

I was immersed in my thoughts from what I had seen, now I knew the appearance of the Avelei race and their appearance was not one of those ballads and stories written by other representatives of the races.

Different possibilities appeared in my head for what would happen next and each had its own dangerous possibilities but also opportunities to become stronger.

The day was increasingly giving way to evening, returning to the entrance to the city, I glanced at the tower and walked towards the mountain where the wyverns should live.
