Chapter 189 - Wyvern Roar

Moving away from the city of the Avelei, I thought about what I saw in it, from the tower to the strange inventions that the Avels most likely used.

Remembering what I was told as a child about the races that passed away, it was only mentioned that they were great swordsmen, but not as not the creators of something.

Were these inventions of another race and the Avels simply used them? But then why aren't more than one of the representatives of the races using them now?

Were these inventions of another bygone race and the remaining races refused to use them?

I did not exclude this possibility; for the remaining races it would be a constant reminder to use the invention of the departed race.

I had a suspicion that they were using something by removing the original inventors, and over time everyone began to think that the departed races had left nothing in this world.

Continuing my way, I watched as it became increasingly dark, casting a last glance at the tower, which was still visible in the beginning darkness.

If with those inventions there were questions about who invented them, then with the tower I had a rough understanding of what it served for the Avels.

It was a place where representatives of the Abel race remembered their long journey and had the opportunity to plunge into the history of the origin of their race.

Gradually, I began to feel tired from the past day and I remembered the professor's words about the dangers that could threaten me in the forest both day and night.

At night there were many more of them; many monsters or animals hunted best at night when their victims were more defenseless.

Looking around for a place where I could rest without fear of attack at night. Even leaving their tormentors, they could attract the attention of someone else by fighting with someone.

Having made sure that there was no convenient place to spend the night near me, I began to walk more slowly, listening to the forest.

Thanks to my improved hearing, I heard someone fighting in the distance, thinking that it would be better for me to intervene in the battle or to go around.

If I heard them fighting, then the other inhabitants of the forest who were nearby most likely also heard. And they could wait until one of the combatants was left alone and only then kill him, weakened.

I had no desire to interfere in the lives of the inhabitants of the forest or provoke them without reason, listening to the fight.

I began to move in the other direction, avoiding the noise of the battle at a great distance and listening to other sounds.

They could hear someone approaching the place of this battle, but the participants were carried away by their enemy and did not pay attention to how other inhabitants of the forest were approaching them from different sides.

Having walked around the place where the sounds of battle were coming from, I made sure that no one was following me and allowed myself to relax slightly.

The feeling of fatigue began to influence me more and more due to the situation with the battle, going out onto a small field.

I looked around and listened and heard no one, I took out a tent and called for the tormentors. I had a desire to eat, but I was afraid that one of the monsters or animals nearby might smell the food and try to find out where that smell came from.

Looking at the tormentors who surrounded the tent, unlike me, they fed on my magic. I just shook my head, regretting that I didn't eat in the city of Avel when I was relatively safe.

It will be a good lesson for me that sometimes it is better to take advantage of the opportunity than to wait for the usual moment.

Hunger had not yet made itself felt much, I hoped that in the morning the animals and monsters would not be hungry and would not try to find the reason for the smell of my food.

Entering the tent and approaching the bed, I lay down and closed my eyes, falling into sleep.

Slowly waking up, I opened my eyes, starting to get out of bed, I felt like my muscles were still sore from my trip to the mountains.

I got up and left the tent, covering my eyes with my hand, waiting for the sun's rays that could blind me.

But instead of the sun's rays, I felt water flowing down my hand, removing my hand from my face and looking at the sky, which was covered with clouds.

I felt raindrops accumulating on me and my clothes, glancing at the tormentors who were also where they had been all night.

Next to the tormentors were lying the figures of monsters who apparently still smelled my scent yesterday, the remnants of blood flowed from the monsters to the ground.

Clicking, I returned back to the tent and quickly began to get ready, I understood that the smell of blood would most likely attract other monsters and I did not have the desire to fight them.

Remembering that Keirin insisted that I take protection from possible rain with me, at such moments I was grateful for her foresight.

Having gathered myself, I left the tent again, threw the hood over my head, packed up the tent and called off the tormentors.

I wanted to save my strength against possible monsters I might encounter. Heading towards the mountains where the wyverns lived, I felt the rain rolling off my clothes. I couldn't look up, I didn't want to get even more wet.

Thanks to the protection, I didn't experience much inconvenience from the rain, but I didn't want to check the protection either.

Trying to move as carefully as possible, because of the rain, the ground began to become more and more wet and muddy.

I hoped that the rain would not last long, otherwise I was afraid that I would not be able to continue my journey to the place where the wyverns lived.

The smell of the wet forest and the feeling of the rain that accumulated on my rain protection was a pleasant feeling.

The smell that came from the wet trees and leaves was very pleasant. I remembered the moments when I was still a prince and sometimes my family and I went hunting in the forest.

At some points it was also raining there and we had to wait in the tents until the rain stopped falling.

Breaking out of my memories because of a sound from the sky, I raised my eyes up, my face began to pour with rain, brushing the drops off my face, I looked at the one who made these sounds.

Far in the sky there was a clearly visible figure with wings; from her roar I understood that she was dissatisfied with something.

Having looked closely, I noticed that she was trying not to flap too much with one of her wings.

Gradually, she began to sink lower and lower and it was noticeable how streams of blood flowed down. Was she injured?

But who could damage a wyvern in the air, they were the younger brothers of dragons and few could rival them in an aerial battle.

For the same reason, I strove for the mountains where they lived, hoping to find one of them in my lair and there make her my fifth tormentor.

Considering the possibility of getting a wyvern without reaching the mountains, a sly smile appeared on my face. I saw that the wyvern was falling further and further until it reached the tops of the trees.

And then she disappeared behind them, remembering the place where I last saw her, I hurried there.

The mud under my feet urged me to walk more carefully, I did not pay attention to it and almost fell on the wet ground a couple of times.

The rain continued to fall and it seemed to me that it began to fall even harder, moving quickly through the forest, I did not want to let this wyvern hide from me. Now not only I, but also the monsters rushed to the wounded wyvern to feast on it.

Thinking about calling my tormentors or not, I didn't know how strong the wounded wyvern on the ground would be.

After the night, my reserve of magic had not yet been fully restored, I understood that I was different from other magicians who had a smaller reserve of magic, but I did not have the desire to take risks.
