Approaching the walls of the city, I noticed that the walls were made of light stone, but it was different from those used in the Cray Empire or in the academy.
There was a sense of magic in these walls, the walls were without any grass or vegetation, did that mean that the walls killed any life that tried to live on it?
I did not understand how strong the magic was stored in these and I did not have the desire to test my thoughts.
Inspecting the wall in search of a gate to enter the city, from the side where I was I did not notice a gate or anything resembling one.
Continuing to walk along the wall and listening, I noticed, in addition to the well-preserved walls, there was also a tower, which, as I understood, was located in the center of this city.
Continuing to walk along the wall, I did not take my eyes off the tower, it was made of the same material as the wall, as I thought.
From the sun, it seemed like it was shining, it was quite high, loopholes were visible, which from a distance seemed like small dots.
Turning my gaze from the tower, I discovered an open gate leading into the city. And above them there was a strange inscription in the language as I understood Avelei, there was a wide passage through which they entered and left this city.
There were barriers from the road and next to them there were doors that, to my surprise, were closed.
Slowly, approaching the gate and listening to the sounds outside the gate, I did not hear any suspicious sounds and entered the city.
A wide road covered with greenery appeared before my eyes; unlike the walls, it was made of simple material.
On the sides of the road there were different buildings of different heights. Unlike the cities where I was, all the buildings here were made of stone or brick.
Looking at the houses that were in front of my eyes, it was noticeable that some of them began to collapse over time, unlike the wall.
I understood that representatives of the remaining races most likely visited here and I would not find anything here.
Walking along the street towards the tower, I noticed various devices that reminded me of carriages. Unlike carriages that were pulled by monsters for traction.
These strange devices were elongated and on the sides of the body there were strange and long wings resembling.
Like carriages, they had doors, but if there were only two in the carriage, here there were four. Approaching one of these strange devices, touching it and feeling the cold that came from the body. Was it made of metal? How did they move on it?
Inspecting the device carefully, I did not find a place where the reins for the monsters would be attached.
There was not much information about the races that left that was available to me even in the castle of the Kray Empire.
The records I read said that the Avelei race was devoid of magic, but they could fly and were good in battle.
I didn't know how they lived; most likely, the representatives of the races did their best to hide possible information about them.
Having tried to open this strange carriage, to my regret it did not budge, I tried to see what was inside, but no matter how hard I tried I could not see what was on the other side. Shaking my head, I walked towards the tower, as I thought it was in the center of the city.
While examining the houses, I noticed that, unlike people's houses, these had two entrances. One was below and the other was located at almost every house above, each upper entrance was decorated and had fences.
Pondering this oddity, I came to the conclusion that either they did not have the opportunity to fly all the time, or it was convenient for them to walk and fly.
Or it is possible that in their cities there were some kind of restrictions on flights; some buildings along my route were unlucky and some had missing doors or part of the house had collapsed.
Thus, giving an ominous appearance to such a structure, moving my eyes from side to side, it seemed to me that I was in an unusual part of the world in which I lived.
When were the races last introduced here? Is it possible that I am the first living half-elf here in a long time?
Remembering the robbers, I discarded this thought; the closer I got to the tower, changes were noticeable in the buildings; they became more neat and made of a material that was not very different from the walls.
Many of the houses on my way were tall, and trying to count how many floors there were, I realized with a sinking feeling that some had from forty to fifty.
I had a desire to go in and look around inside, but I was afraid that the house might collapse when I was inside.
In addition to the changes in buildings, metal signs began to appear above different houses. On which were written symbols incomprehensible to me in the Avelei language.
From the pictures next to these signs, I assumed that these houses were shops where you could buy something.
In addition to the houses, I was surprised that there were a lot of plants and trees in the city; many, without caring for them, filled some of the areas near the houses.
The street I was walking along was, to my surprise, quite long, and neighboring streets merged into it and there were various signs next to them.
And next to the signs there was equipment that I didn't understand, which looked at different parts of the road; inside it, two large multi-colored balls were noticeable.
Looking at them with interest, I discovered several wires going to this strange equipment that penetrated inside this strange equipment.
I was at a loss as to what these equipments were for, but not finding a way to activate this equipment, shaking my head, I walked further towards the tower, which was getting closer and closer.
The closer I got to this tower, I noticed that there were some drawings on it, but because of the distance I could not see them better. The pain in my body from going up and down the mountain was still making itself known to me.
The closer I got to the tower, the more I noticed that the houses began to thin out on the sides of me until they were completely behind me.
And in front of me trees appeared growing, unlike the forest; it was noticeable that they were not growing entirely freely.
