Chapter 174 - The Baron receives disturbing news part 1

Away from the cities of Mijen and Lokhen, there was a small castle at night, you could see guards patrolling the walls with torches illuminating the walls.

Anyone who wanted to could not get into this castle. The baron of local lands lived in it with his family.

Inside, one could see the coat of arms of his family depicted on the yellow color of a bull running into the distance.

The guards could be heard talking among themselves discussing various things and, like everyone else, they had a favorite topic of their baron.

Many have seen what the once calm region has become under the leadership of the eldest sons.

The baron had three sons, two of whom tried to demonstrate to their father that it was he who was worthy to take the reins of power.

The third, according to the baron, went on a journey to know himself. After the departure of the third brother in the castle, among the servants and squads, gossip began to circulate about where the youngest son of the baron actually went.

They said that the baron, at the request of his son, concluded an agreement with one of the bands of robbers and now he was there.

But few believed them, no matter how the baron fell, few thought that he would go to such lengths to conclude an agreement with the carrion that robbed and killed the inhabitants of these lands.

The guard who stood at the gate lift noticed a movement in the distance that was heading towards the castle.

Frowning, he expected to see who decided to try to disturb their master during the night.

Shouting out to attract the other guards who were nearby, hearing loud footsteps, he didn't have to turn around to see who was approaching.

- Maybe you saw a thread of a monster or it seemed? - Asked one of the guards peering into the distance but did not see anything.

At night, they often saw monsters or animals approaching the castle. And they were not surprised if the guard mistook the monster for a figure that was heading towards the castle.

- Be honest, you thought or dozed off. - Understanding voice addressed to the guard another.

Approving voices were heard, many guards sometimes caught themselves falling asleep for a few seconds.

The guard's conviction began to fade, maybe he really imagined? Ignoring the voices of other guards and peering, he again saw a figure approaching the castle.

- Do you see the figure over there too? - He turned in a loud voice, pointing with his hand where the figure could be seen.

From the sighs from the back, he understood that the others would look only to remind him. And who dares to visit the baron at night?

- I really see someone, everyone take torches and peer to the sides, tell the rest. - Overheard the thoughtful voice of the captain.

The captain and the guard who had noticed looked at each other while the others dispersed to convey his order.

Active movements began on the walls, the guards lighted the lights along the walls and looked into the darkness, expecting to see more figures. But no matter how much they looked, there was no one to be seen.

Having reported this to the captain, it was evident how he frowned peering into the darkness after a while the figure became more distinguishable. A rider dressed in all black rode towards them on a riding monster.

After some time, he found himself in front of a locked gate. Stopping his riding monster and raising his head to the walls, on which the guards looked at him. The captain of the guard recognized this night's visitor as the deputy mercenary guild.

- Deputy Ingor, why did you arrive at such a late hour? The captain asked, peering into the face of the man in front of him.

The captain saw well that Ingor was on edge, which meant something had happened in Midgen.

- Captain, I have urgent business with Baron Falo, let me in. - Ingor said looking around.

The captain, listening to Ingor's intonation, heard fear and apprehension in his voice before something.

The baron did not often meet with anyone from the mercenary guild and he did not remember night visits in his entire service.

- If you haven't noticed it's night now and why haven't you contacted through the runestone? - The captain asked warily.

Hearing the captain's question, the deputy mercenary guild laughed, he was sent here by the head of the mercenary guild. The topic of conversation was best discussed without the use of runestones.

- This concerns the youngest son of the Baron captain. - Trying to explain the reason for his visit answered Ingor.

Hearing the reason for Ingor's arrival, the captain gritted his teeth, there was no news of the baron's youngest son.

And then the deputy of the mercenary guild appears and reports that he has news about him and this is urgent.

- If you don't tell him, you might lose your head captain. - Ingor warned the captain, seeing his doubts.

The captain glanced at the guard standing next to him, if he was alone there was an opportunity to hide the arrival of Ingor. But in this situation, he had a choice to wake the baron or not.

- Wait here Ignore, and you look at both. - The captain said having made a decision and without waiting for an answer he went to the stairs leading to the courtyard.

Descending into the courtyard and passing inside the castle, the captain went to the baron's chambers, he hoped that Ingor had not arrived with bad news.

Passing along the corridor and approaching the door, he loudly knocked on the closed wooden door in front of him.

- My Lord Falo, Mercenary Guild Deputy Ingor has arrived, saying he has important information about your youngest son. - The captain spoke in a loud voice, continuing to knock and repeat, hoping that the baron would wake up.

The voice of Baron Falo was heard from the side of the room where the captain was knocking. Hearing the sleepy voice of the baron, he walked away and waited for his master to come out.

The door opened and a sleepy baron appeared dressed in his white nightgown. The Baron was of average height and overweight, his hair already almost entirely gray. His sleepy black eyes carefully looked at his captain who woke him up.

- Repeat what you just said. - He asked the captain slowly coming closer to him.

Observing the behavior of the baron, the captain mentally nodded to himself that he had done the right thing by deciding to inform him of the arrival of Ingor.

- The Deputy Head of the Mercenary Guild has arrived with news of your youngest son. - Repeated the captain, watching the expression of the baron's face change.

The captain saw how the face of the baron was changing, Falo frowned looking at the guard, he thought what could be the reason for the arrival of Ingor.

- Escort him to my hall, immediately captain! - Ordered Baron Falo heading himself into the hall.

The captain, having heard the order, went back to the gate, ordering to open them, and together with the guard they began to open after a while Ignor was inside the courtyard.
