Chapter 129 - Getting to know Oteu

Releasing her, I turned around and we went to the courtyard where we needed to find the head of security. As Keirin explained, this Duhane should not be interested in magic or spells that I possess, as a merchant, he does not lead the protection of the caravan. This was handled by the head of the guard, a magician with extensive experience in protecting caravans who could place defenders in different sections of the caravan and thus the entire caravan was balanced in terms of protection.

Going back out into the yard, I noticed how there were more people in the caravan who were packing everything and preparing the caravan for departure, trying to find the dwarf who disappeared, shaking his head and turning to one of the merchants, he looked at us and nodded towards the end of the caravan, describing the carriage in which the head of the guard would be. Passing by the monsters that will drag the cargo, I wanted to ask Keirin what kind of monsters they are, but other members of the caravan would hear it and this would lead to unnecessary misunderstanding.

Approaching the specified carriage, it was noticeable that it was different from other merchants' carriages, if the others were large, then this one was smaller, it was also different that it was metal, while others were wooden with small round shields on the doors. A man's laughter could be heard inside the carriage, after knocking on the door, it was heard that the laughter stopped and after a couple of seconds the door opened.

A man appeared before us, he had blue eyes that followed our movements, hair was missing on his head, he had tanned skin, he was partially dressed in armor covering his heart, his arms and chest were covered with scars and there was a deep scar along his right eye, steel armbands were worn on his hands at the bottom there were simple trousers unremarkable.

- So who do we have here? - He asked us in a rough voice.

He, like us, carefully examined each other, I saw similar warriors in the castle, but they rarely visited, so I did not remember them well.

- Stufon Trey and a servant arrived to complete the tasks. - I introduced myself.

Chuckling at my words, he shifted his gaze to Keirin, assessing her.

- You probably haven't been to the owner of the Stufon Trey caravan yet? "What is it? - he asked.

Smiling remembering my departure from the hall in which Duhane remained, but feeling a stab in the back from Keirin, I gathered my thoughts. And I pushed these memories away in my head.

- We were, we just came from him. - Answering the question, I smiled again, which caused me to get another stab in the back from Keirin.

I noticed his surprise at my words, as I could understand this Duhane often practiced selecting other people's servants for all sorts of reasons.

- It's strange then why your servant is with you and not with him in bed. - The head of the caravan guard said, grinning.

Confirming my thoughts, the security chief continued to grin while examining the Keirin. I just shook my head how much representatives of races are greedy for beauty and want to possess it. Even from the look of the head of security, I could see that he had an interest in Keirin.

- He tried to take her away. - I said in a calm voice, looking into the eyes of the head of the guard.

Even more surprised by my words, he began to look at me more closely. It was clear from his look that he doubted my words and was not ready to take on faith. But I didn't care if this security chief tried to take away Keirin, he would also lose his arm and maybe his head.

- And what did you do to him for that? - The head of the caravan guard asked cautiously, being interested.

Realizing where this conversation could go, I could only say directly what happened to the owner of the caravan.

- I destroyed his hand, with which he tried to poke me in the chest. - I spoke in a calm and cautionary voice, but preparing to release the tormentors, I closely followed the actions of the head of the caravan guard.

I felt as if the temperature next to me began to change, I did not take my eyes off the man in front of me.

- Is he alive? - Asked the guard of the guard closely watching my actions. He most likely felt the appearance of magic next to me, as did Keirin, who was trying to calm me down.

After hearing his question, I already regretted that I didn't kill him, but maybe then Keirin would have been more afraid of me, which I didn't want.

- Alive, but he won't get his hand back. - I said in a confident, firm voice.

Listening to my words, I saw the muscles of the head of the guard relax and he had a strange smile on his face.

- It's good that you didn't kill him, it's better not to spoil your hands from such dirt. - The head of the guard spoke good-naturedly.

Not understanding what he meant, now I was surprised by his behavior, it was noticeable how the person in front of me relaxed

- He often tries so-so to find a servant for the road, but you are the first one to harm him, be careful. - The head of the guard continued to speak kindly.

I understood what he meant, agreeing with him, I nodded only instead of fear, I waited for him to do something. I didn't want to scare Keirin and wouldn't have told her if nothing had happened.

- My name is Oteu, come into the carriage and tell me your magic and what spells you both have. - Oteu said, returning back to the carriage.

After exchanging glances with Keirin, we climbed into the carriage after Oteu.

Once inside the carriage, I noticed that it was larger inside, I wondered if all the carriages had the same dimensions inside as this one. Various weapons hung on the walls and in the middle there was a large table at which representatives of different races sat. All of them were dressed in armor and looked attentively at us entering the carriages behind Oteu.

- Who is Oteu? - The light elf asked, looking at us.

But instead, Oteu, coming up to him, hit him with his hand on his head, causing the light elf to bury his head in the table.

- These are the stufons who arrived from the academy on assignment to escort the caravan. - In a rough voice he addressed everyone else sitting at the table.

After his words, many people began to look at us with great interest, coming up to the table, seeing empty seats, we sat next to each other, in the carriage I could smell the ale and closer to the table it became even stronger. Now I understood why many of them had red faces and sluggish gestures.

- So now, in turn, introduce yourself to the new guy and what kind of magic you have. - Oteu spoke in a guttural, rough voice, looking at everyone at the table.

I saw how everyone sitting at the table began to look at each other, looking for who would introduce himself first. While everyone was looking at each other, Oteu calmly poured himself ale and smacking his lips looked around at everyone.

- It's good if everyone is so shy, which I'm surprised at, my name is, as you know, Oteu, a melee mage, I own earth magic, I own a two-handed axe, I was kicked out of the academy. - Oteu introduced himself.

Does it mean that Oteu was a combat magician that I studied at the academy? It became interesting for me to watch the fight of the head of the caravan guard.

- My name is Fege, I own wind magic, a magician of long and short range, I fight with a bow and a saber, I graduated from the academy a long time ago. - A light elf introduced herself, she had a pleasant voice.

She had long hair braided in two braids hanging from her shoulders, her eyes appraisingly examined Keirin, she noticed the color of her eyes and frowned even more. Fege was dressed in light gray armor that beautifully emphasized her figure. A quiver filled with arrows was visible on one shoulder and a bow was visible on her knees.

- My name is Yehil, I have ice magic, a magician of short and long range, I fight with paired swords. - The dark elf introduced himself in a low voice.

Looking at him, I saw his thin haircut and black eyes that he did not take off from me. He was also dressed in dark armor and the hilts of blades were visible on the sides at the waist.

After that, other people sitting at the table were introduced, there were both support magicians and two swordsmen, which surprised me. I knew that the caravans were accompanied by swordsmen, but I did not think that there would be fewer of them than magicians. Having introduced themselves all, they looked at us expectantly, exchanging glances with Keirin, sighing, attracting attention to themselves.

- My name is Keirin, I have wind and ice magic, a long-distance magician, I fight with a staff, I graduated from the academy a long time ago. - Keirin introduced herself, looking attentively at everyone sitting at the table.

I saw how the faces of all those sitting began to change, it was very rare to see a magician possessing more than one element, but even less often complementing each other. Usually such magicians sat in kingdoms and empires, but they did not accompany any caravans in the wilderness.

Seeing the distrust, according to her, Keirin used spells of ice and wind, with the first spell she froze the drink in the mugs of those sitting, and with the second she ruffled everyone's hair.

- A rare talent and accompanies a simple caravan? - Yehil said incredulously, looking at Keirin.

Shifting her gaze to Yehil, Keirin only smiled and agreed with his words.

All eyes were directed at me, they were surprised by the talent for magic that Keirin had and did not expect much from me.
