"Be careful, Princess," she told me.
I lifted my left hand with caution. As soon as my fingers touched the scrolls, I was ready to be thrown away. But that didn't happen. Instead, the ground where the pile of scrolls shook. The dust accumulated there blinded us when it mixed with the air.
Eve and I coughed. And when the dust was gone. The piles of scrolls are gone and replaced by a prison cell. Inside the cell was an old man with long hair and a long mustache covering his mouth. His hair and mustache were so long that they reached the ground, coiling like some snake. I saw him breathing, but it looked like he was close to death.
"Who is this old man?" Eve asked me. "Is this Saladin?"
The old man coughed and moved his head toward me. And when I looked at him closely, he became familiar to me. I know I saw him somewhere in Stacey's memories. His face popped into my head, and I learned he was the hermit I heard Stacey tell me to look for.
