She's a freaking daredevil.
The location is far from where I am now, and I decided to use my beloved bike because I need the speed and I don't need to wait in traffic. I had to find a space that would fit the motor that I could go through.
"I'm about to enter the Tempest forest," I told her.
"Are you serious? Did you come for me? I just arrived at my house. Go home, Raven," she said.
"What the heck?" I cussed.
"I told you, don't underestimate me, Chika. Turn around and go home. It's not safe to be outside, especially in Tempest forest," she replied.
"Send me proof that you're already in your house and that the Lycans stopped chasing you," I said to make sure. I even stopped at the deepest part of Tempest road to wait for her selfie.
Moments later, she sent a picture of her with her dog, Freckles. She is already at home and having a coffee because of her background.
I sighed. Stacey is always one step ahead of danger, and here I am, a worrywart. She's one of the most influential people in my life, and I will not let any trouble come to her.
I lifted my helmet and let the night breeze play with my hair. I looked to the right, and I saw the rising red moon there. As I was looking at it, I was drawn more to it. It does look like blood. This is the first time I have had a closer look at this once-a-year moon. I'm a wolf, but I don't understand anything about it aside from being cursed. I was fascinated, especially when it showed all of its glory.
I was about to start my bike when I heard a familiar snapping of dead trunks a few meters away from me. I immediately turned to that side and saw a gray wolf staring at me. He's huge and almost the same as the King's wolf. His amber-gold eyes stared at me, and he saw the red moon in full view. I saw its eyes suddenly turn red and gradually change their form. The vast and regular wolf in front of me started to morph into something familiar. His behind two legs grew as his upper body changed almost into a human shape. His two front paws changed into two arms and hands, rough fur covering his skin, elongating its claws as if they were a hand of humans. His head remained the head of a wolf, and saliva started to drip from his mouth. He then began to step his feet towards me and open his mouth wide, showing me its pointed rows of canines.
As he walked closer to me, I realized something was off about this Lycan.
Something, something that...
"Fuck! What is that smell!" Claw suddenly becomes so anxious.
She and I knew what that scent was.
"Run, Raven! Run!" she repeatedly shouted at me.
"I'm trying! I'm trying! But I can't move my body!" I answered her as I tried to move, but it was as if I was rooted to the ground.
I felt like I was frozen and was being intoxicated by that scent. What the hell is scent?
I could hear Claw's warning in my head. She's trying to make me move, but the Lycan is already in front of me, sniffing me all over. I could even hear its low growl as if it was warning me not to move.
Fuck! What if it will eat me ?! How can I defend myself if I can't even move? And that intoxicating scent. It can't be.. it.. it belongs to the mate I hate. W-why now? Why, throughout this year.. he suddenly shows up?
He then held my head and turned it to the left. And he saw the mark that the King had made. He growled so loud at the sight of mark that I thought my eardrums would break. He effortlessly lifted me, and he just threw me as if I were a stone piece.
Fuck!
The moment my body hit that damn hard tree, I felt like a few of my ribs broke. What is happening to me? Why can't I shift so I can fight back? Why am I feel terrified when I look at his red eyes?
I tried to stand up so at least I could run away even though my body's aching.
"Ugh! damn it! I need to run away from this Lycan. Claw? Claw? Are you listening?"
I heard nothing but silence. Where the hell did she go? Darn! Why is it now? When we have to run away from this Lycan, she suddenly disappears?
I heard a loud growl, and it was coming toward me. Suddenly I stood up and sprang up to my feet. Ignoring the pain, I ran like a whirlwind.
Even before I could go far, I could hear the quick steps of that lycan who was chasing after me. Suddenly, I heard another howl not far from where I was. And I realized that not only one Lycan was chasing me, but there were two of them. Why are they after me?
I felt the broken bone in my body slowly heal, so I ran faster. Claw isn't responding to my call, so I need to rely on my vampire abilities. If not, I'm doomed.
I'm lost track of direction. I don't have my phone, and I feel like it fell when that lycan threw me. I have no one else to rely on but myself.
How did I even end up in this situation? Fuck!!
While running away as fast as I could, I heard the sound of water a few meters away from me. I'm not backing down from any fight but two insane Lycans? One was the previous Lycan, while the other is unknown? And most of all, they are not just ordinary Lycan. Fucking hell, they are the sons of Red moon!
