A few weeks passed, and Queen Rose recovered from the birth and spent some time with her new son Rainer. She insisted on feeding him herself; she was feeding him in her study. Rainer had started to refer to himself by his new name to become accustomed to it.
'Alright, Rainer, it's not that embarrassing. You're a baby vomiting happens.'

Queen Rose was giggling because she could swear that every time her new son spit up on her, staining her clothes, he looked guilty, like he had done something wrong.
"It's alright, sweet baby. It's just clothes."
Rose felt Rainer could understand her; his expression had visibly relaxed after she said that. Rose also noticed that Rainer would smile whenever she talked about magic. So she started teaching him the principles of mana, the energy of life.
'It's not like he can understand what I am saying. So what's the harm?'
"Okay, Rainer, Mana is the energy of the world; it flows through everything, the earth, sky, rivers, oceans, the dead, and everything living. It is the energy that makes up this world."
'Score she may not think I can understand her, but I was meant be a "prodigy."'
"Every being can manipulate this energy utilizing their will to shape the mana the way they wish. There are three main types of magic written, verbal, and artifact. To use magic, we first must be able to sense the mana around us."
Rose sat in the lotus position and closed her eyes. Then, she focused on the mana around her and made it condense. Next, a blue mist started to form, and eventually, it took on the shape of a bird.
"Pure mana can take any shape, but without a magic incantation, it is only just energy. To sense mana, one must clear their mind to the world around them. Once you find the mana, you can shape it like this."
Rose released the mana bird, and it dispersed into the air.
"The three main branches of magic have different uses. Written magic is consumable. A scroll allows anyone to utilize a spell as long as it is prepared ahead of time. Verbal magic is magic that uses incantations to direct mana to create a specific effect. Then last, there is Artifact magic, enchanted objects that only take mana to activate. There are other forms of magic, but for the most part, they are just extensions of these three. Such as Ninjutsu, Alchemy, and even the rare silent magic."
Rainer was enjoying the lesson, although for different reasons than Rose thought, because how could a baby possibly understand such a complex subject as magic.
"I am a verbal magician, and although I can use the other types, this is my specialization. This is an example of a spell 'Phoenix missile.'"
A bright orange bird of flames flew across the room and out the window before it popped like a firework. Rainer smiled, giggled, then cried for lunch.
'Magic is freaking awesome, but I think being a magic casting baby might be a bit too much. So I will have to practice in secret, and that's if I even can practice as infant speaking seems pretty essential unless I can silent cast.'
