Chereads / Survival of an Ability Creator / Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

At first, I was surprised, but then I began evaluating my situation and realized that I was exactly like a novel character. I knew I should be celebrating, but my past life regrets and memories loomed and because of that, I couldn't properly enjoy the one wish I had when I was younger.

The system pop-ups were still rolling in, and I waited for 5 minutes while the system was installed.

[Would You Like a System Tutorial?] I, of course, clicked yes. Although I had read many novels and knew how systems 'worked,' a tutorial would help me find hidden features.

[The base of the system includes the ability to consume SP (Special Points) to create, modify and steal abilities, you get these Special Points by either doing missions or leveling up. You can get XP from doing anything beneficial, Killing, stealing, cleaning the dishes, anything new and unusual. The more formidable the challenge, the more XP you gain, there are other ways to gain experience, but they include learning appropriate abilities. XP can be used to upgrade the abilities you have created or level up.

[Leveling up increases your stats and can unlock class abilities. For example- you're an esper, and you have the ability of pyrokinesis, and you just achieved class level 20, if you have the required stats, you can get class skills. In this case, you'd be able to change your energy consumption (for the use of the ability) and be able to change the type of fire. (Basically, gain abilities to change the fire to deal cold damage instead of heat damage or similar. Because the weakness of the pyrokinesis ability is that you can only deal heat damage.)

[The creation of abilities is quite simple. You can tell the system what you want or feed it code and creative abilities. Note-Due to the Balance change, the cost of creating abilities has increased by 200%.]

"That's so FUCKED!!!" I knew that creating abilities would cost a ton even without the balance change. Still, now that the balance change increased the cost by three times, I knew that I would probably never get to create an ability using points and mainly will have to steal abilities. Luckily I had one free creation coupon, I knew I had to make an overpowered ability to survive, but I put that off for now and kept listening.

[Dont worry, host, if the system deems your survival probability low, it will offer you a boost that can buff the system, of course, there will be a price to accept the offer, like removing some abilities or consuming SP or XP. ]

I nodded in my mind and calmed myself, and kept listening to the system for the next thirty minutes. Although the information seemed helpful, it was actually just basic features like adding stat points to increase a particular stat.

But one of the few things that caught my eye was—Side classes. Side classes explain more in-depth what Awaken specializes in and are not limited by the main class, so a mechanic can be a sniper and a pugilist can be a repairman, but usually, they don't fit and don't gain appropriate bonuses, and it's not recommended to get too many side-classes because it may make you weaker and or you'll drain your potential.

But I couldn't stop myself from thinking about what the system's goal was and why I was reincarnated; thinking about it, I decided not to think much; even if I was being used for nefarious, I wouldn't mind it because I got a chance to live again.

The first thing to do was to check my stats.

[Remark: He is quite handsome in a certain way, sadly, he probably doesn't know how to talk with women]

Looking at my stats, I could confidently say I was pretty damn good off; everything was amazing, and although my skills were a bit lacking, I knew I wouldn't be long before I got (stole) more.

Most of the skills and stats were probably the heritage of my other self; I can only thank my other self, without his help, I wouldn't have these stats, but I also wouldn't be in this military camp awaiting my possible death… 'Thank you?'

Having checked the stats, I began thinking about what to use my coupon for; of course, I first tried to use the coupon for overly overpowered skills, which didn't work.

'Okay, I need power, I could get a powerful active that slowly increases my stats by killing people. Okay, there's one let's think of the other possible growth-type abilities. Right if I have a lot of XP I could just level up to a massive level and be unkillable, I could steal XP by killing… or maybe I could trade things for XP that would allow me to grow even when I'm living a peaceful life. Another good ability is just increasing the rate of experience gain, but I think that's better after I get my peaceful life.

There are many good abilities but only one coupon. I'm leaning towards trading XP, although that may not be allowed, if it isn't I think the basic overpowered stealing people stats, but it may be balanced too much I stop talking to myself and call up the system to exchange my coupon.

I ended up overexplaining the ability, which surprisingly took longer than expected, 'I'm quite glad I was a programmer and spent time making some games, it really helped me with balancing, instead of relying on this surprisingly fair system.' After explaining everything, I wanted to add the system started processing.

[Ability is being created… due to the level of ability being high, balance changes will be applied]

"Fuck... Well, I had to expect that" now that the ability was created, I immediately clicked it to check it.

[Xp Trading LV1 - allows to trade experience with others but only if the appropriate price is paid, the system will show the fairest price for each person. 80% of the XP is lost during transactions. Costs: Nothing.

A sigh escaped my lips as I could only lament on the 'balance' "It's still a good skill, but it's a shame, that it couldn't let me off with some of the abilities."

Still, I asked the System about the skill in-depth and noted that the best case for this ability was to make a business, with memberships where you get a discount if you have a membership card, while I get their exp, sadly I probably needed to use contracts which would deter some customers.

After that, I did more research about the base, myself, and those around myself, although I didn't find anything useful I did find some footage of how 'I' acted I now knew how I should act, and before long I drifted to sleep.
