Chapter 20 - The most powerful man

She looked outside and still saw Mavlak standing.

She hurriedly finished her bathing and went back to her room. Arkym and Machiy are to go back to Lyu by dusk.

General Jlav was talking with them in his chambers.

He was troubled by what happened, especially when Aolig said she saw the void. But as the man of the house he was not supposed to show anxiety.

It is quite effeminate to do so.

Hence, he rather decided to talk with Machiy and Arkym. The maids were giggling to themselves outside the chambers, occasionally gesturing with their fingers how manly the general was.

Mevlak was more concerned about her daughter.

"What do you want to eat?" she asked.

Aolig thought for a long time with childish grin, looking up and down. The servants stifled a smile.

But the cold glare from Mavlak sent some of them running to the kitchen.

"Flower cake!" she said with excitement.

Even Mavlak relaxed his tense shoulders. He laughed. Mevlak has always deprived her of flower cake but not today of course.

"Prepare her the flower cake," Mevlak commanded the maids who rushed to get it done.

Occasionally they nudged each other as they were going to the kitchen.

"I told you young mistress will say flower cake."

Machiy saw Mavlak walking up and down in the hall way, he decided to keep him company.

"General, how is little sister?"

"I think she is better now. She even demanded for flower cake."

They both laughed heartily. Arkym later joined them. The discussion slowly drifted to battle strategies and possible military rearrangements in the South and also the battle of the heaven chosen for the allocation of entry slot to the new secret realm.

"I think she lied," said elder Gwamho as he sat down on the chair offered to him by general Jlav.

"Why do you think so?"

"The void is the void because is sucks up all the energy in a person. But earlier when I felt her pulse it was rather steady. However, I discovered that there is new vein development," he explained.

"Uncle what do we do?" Mevlak asked.

"Nothing, just close observation for now."

After that, elder Gwamho and Lavik left the Eyme manor back to Lhney Academy.

"What if we take her in the academy?" Lavik asked.

Elder Gwamho continuously stroked his beard, looking at the sky in contemplation. For him, if fate has destined it according to what his father said, then it will be.

Lavik saw that he probably asked the wrong question.

"Sorry elder," he apologized. Elder Gwamho waved at him dismissively.

"No need."

Back at the palace, the various envoys have gathered together to be sent to the boundary of the dreaded Vaigt pass.

On their faces one could see determination and service to the whole Lhney.

Even though Lhney is the centre of the multiverse, there are other universes out there with similar development howbeit, different cultivation systems.

All forces in Lhney have a tacit understanding, even though they scheme, fight and kill each other, it never interferes with the whole picture.

The common folks from the villages also came to see the fearless individuals that have decided to forfeit their lives for them.

They simply see them as heroes. However, some scholars among them see them as fools.

"The emperor arrives!" announced the young eunuch.

Everyone bowed themselves to the most powerful man in the multiverse. He is the most powerful not because of his cultivation but because of what he represents.

He was wearing his full regalia of crane decorated gown with eagle crested ropes. He is a handsome man in his early fifties.

The staff he was holding was made of pure gold. It has a slim body with orb shaped head. The orb is decorated with cranes.

The staff represents the man with the highest authority in Lhney.
