Chapter 22 - Security House

The weather conditions of Exkaby is erratic. Even though it is almost fall, the sun is still high in the capital.

The sun shone on the faces of these young heroes who have just graduated from Lhney Academy but were brave enough to undertake a dangerous journey like this.

The shape of the cloud began to change as the envoys move further east. It seems like it is going to rain today.

The envoys seemed to follow the lead of Jaroy as their leader. He lifted his chin to show his sweat stricken face. Slowly, he reached into his pocket and brought out the map.

Each of the envoy were given maps for the travel. Jaroy took a step further away from the others, trying to figure out the exact route to take.

Smile was formed on his young handsome face, as he pointed to the woods east of where they were standing.

Karnez shook his head and smiled. The smile was sinister and evil, maybe due to the hostile situation in Eayl.

But he appeared to be the strongest among them being vast in many sword skills. He approached Jaroy and patted him on the back.

"Let us go."

Aolig sat in the carriage with Mavlak as they were going back to the manor. She wasn't exactly happy.

Her heart has been beating faster than normal after her discussion with Jaroy. She remembered his handsome face and was flustered.

Mavlak was closely observing his sister.

"What are you thinking?" he asked. His face was unchanged at all.

Aolig just smiled back.

"I don't know, just thinking about the envoys," she answered.

Mavlak grunted. He lifted the curtain of the carriage and observed people going about their normal business.

His eyes caught the lone building of the Security House, he smiled wryly.

The Security House was standing tall as a giant among other buildings of the ministry situated on that street.

The gray street is the most important street in all of Exkaby. It contains most of the government offices.

Various officials especially those of the Hwi and Lobaen are the only exceptions.

Aolig's mind was rather on what transpired in her dreams last night. She saw herself playing with those creatures inside her dream. They seem to understand her language.

Her eyes drifted across the gray market further down, She saw two men holding swords by their sides.

She looked intently at them, but they were oblivious of that. She then saw the insignia of the Lhney Academy proudly sown on their black shirt.

She was slightly excited.

The Lhney Academy is considered to be the most elite school in all of Lhney. It is the only school that can boast of having the most sages like elder Gwamho and elder Lavik Gwamho.

Each region and race in Lhney have a stipulated quota.

Even Mavlak was not opportuned to attend the Academy.

That was because general Jlav believed in the method of training passed down by the Eyme clan through generations.

After he completed his training at the age of 15, he was already the highest ranked young elite in the whole of Lhney.

Aolig imagined what it would be like to enter the Academy. She touched her brother.

"What if I join the academy?" she asked.

Mavlak chuckled, " I will support you. However, it all depends on father and mother."

Aolig threw some tantrum. He knows her mom always insists that a lady should behave like a lady.

Mavlak sighed, most of the elites in the dreaded Security House are graduates of the Academy.

"I don't think you should go."

By now her mind was elsewhere. She saws the leaves of the tree in front of their house gracefully falling down due to the wind and approaching fall.

She extended her hands and caught one of leaves before it fell.

Mavlak by now is just worried about their mother.

Winter doesn't go well in Eyme manor because of her cold poison. Finally, the gate of the manor was opened, as they were entering, the rain started descending with a thunderstorm.

It will probably rain for more few days before it ceases for the year.

Mevlak stood in front of her mansion, observing the torrential rainfall hitting hard on the roof.

She smiled bitterly. "It will be winter soon," she complained.

"Get me the warmer!" She commanded.

Immediately the maid who were attending to her scurried like rats to get the oven.

The maids at the Eyme manor are not like other maids in the capital. They are well treated, which gives them a sense of belonging.

The chief butler Mr Jylax quickly brought the herbal tea he had prepared.

"My lady…" he said giving her the tea.

"Thank you Mr Jylax," Mevlak said sipping her tea in melancholy.

As a former heaven chosen and famous genius, she supposed to be at a dao ancestor by now. She subconsciously clenched her fists

She gulped down her tea and continued looking outside probably remembering the earlier years when she has not contracted the poison.

Mr Jylax wanted to say something, but he was dismissed with the gesture of her hands.

"I am not dying anytime soon," Mevlak murmured.

Butler Jylax came out and commanded the maids to leave at once. Aolig saw them leaving, by now she was already in the hall way.

She rushed to her mother and tapped her on the back.

She wore the best smile ever, but deep in her heart she was gravely troubled. Mevlak just held her hands and they both observed the torrential downpour gracefully cascading through out Exkaby.
