Chereads / Brain Eater in the Apocalypse / Chapter 26 - Pershala Merchant Store

Chapter 26 - Pershala Merchant Store

"Death army? If you're here to help, then tell me what is happening in this world?", Pati asks stopping in front of the Pershala Merchant that is towering in front of him.

There's no fear in his eyes in case the Pershala Merchant will attack him or something.

Although the world has fallen from grace into ruin like this, there should still be rules here that surpass even this mysterious Pershala Merchant. If the system seems to portray the Pershala Merchant as part of the world then it's definitely a neutral Zombie.

Just think of the Pershala Merchant as a fixed NPC in-game, it will definitely not attack.

Persha Merchant gazes at Pati with its green eyes, the green eyes squinted a bit as if the Pershala Merchant is smiling under the black mask, "I'm sorry dweller of the new world, but the information you asked is of a higher degree and I can't give you the answer"

"Explain to me how you work, I'd like to know", Pati finally asks while crossing his arms.

Even in a hellish world such as this, information is definitely still a key to success. Knowing everything about the Pershala Merchant before engaging in whatever it offers will definitely be the best course of action.

Without saying anything, the Pershala Merchant then waves its hand calmly.

After the Pershala Merchant did that, the scenery in the surroundings changed into pure darkness. It's like the Pershala Merchant uses an illusion spell that changed the place they are in into pure darkness, but soon a green light appears on their right.

Pointing at the green light, the Pershala Merchant then said, "I'll explain it to you"

"As the sixth dwellers of the new world that has managed to reach here, I owed you whatever information you asked for the first time. But after this, all things need to be bought using Black Coins as I'm sure you are already aware of that"

Pati nodded his head as he already figures that much.

While looking at the green light on his right where another Pershala Merchant can be seen identical to the one in front of him, the Pershala Merchant then explains, "We are categorized into five distinct categories based on the robe we wear, lowest to highest are categorized as following colors. Black, Green, Brown, Blue, and Red robe"

As the Pershala Merchant said, four other lights appear in a circle around them.

Two of them are green light including the black robe Pershala Merchant, two others are white light, and the last one is dark red light where the red robe Pershala Merchant stands.

'So there are rankings of them?', Pati thought while looking at this scene.

"Our robe is distinct depending on the power of the death army in the surroundings, as around this place has only first circle death army then my robe is black. The higher the strength of the death army, the higher our robes become"

"The higher the color, the better items we sell"

Pati listens to what the Pershala Merchant explained and roughly gets the picture of what the Pershala Merchant really is. Basically, the Pershala Merchant is divided into five colors which depend on the concentrated power of the surroundings Zombies.

Black Pershala Merchant is the lowest and red is the highest.

These color ranks determined the quality of items they can sell, higher ones sell better items.

"You might wonder about the numbers that appear after someone enters, that number represents the limit of dwellers of the new world that can enter at a specific given time"

Hearing this, Pati frowned in confusion, "Does that mean only ten can enter here?"

"Yes... after the last one enters I will be teleported away into a new place. Anyone can only enter once but will be reset once I got teleported away into a new location", the Pershala Merchant replied clearly.

"We as Pershala Merchant sell you anything you require in exchange for Black Coins"

"So... dweller of the new world, what do you want to buy from me?", the Pershala Merchant said gazing at Pati with its piercing green eyes that contain mystery and animosity.

[Pershala Merchant Store]

[Weapon]

[Class]

[Skills]

[Racial Skills]

[Class Skills]

[Race Evolution]

[Class Evolution]

[Utility Items]

[Craft]

Just after the Pershala Merchant said that Pati is presented by many sections from the system.

These sections are all the things he can buy through the Pershala Merchant, but Pati saw the Class Evolution, Class Skill, and Craft sections are greyed out. With his experience as a gamer, he already knows that greyed out means he can't access it.

Maybe it's because of the black robe Pershala Merchant can't do that or something else.

Out of all the options in front of him, Pati can't help but be interested in the Race Evolution section, he taps on that section using his mind before another display appears before him.

[Race Evolution]

[Human Transcendent - 15 Black Coins]

[Human Warrior - 10 Black Coins]

[Human Rogue - 10 Black Coins]

[Human Guardian - 10 Black Coins]

Pati finds four listed options under the Race Evolution section, there are descriptions under each option for him to read about the race. Human Warrior will give +3 Strength stat for each level instead of the normal +1, Human Rogue +3 Agility, and Human Guardian +3 Vitality.

Each race focuses on a different aspect of stat, while the Human Transcendent is different.

While the other available races focus on a specific stat, the Human Transcendent race focuses on all stats but increases 1 point lower. Being a Human Transcendent will give +2 in each stat even including a +50 Hp.

Using simple math, the other races will give a person a total of 5 points of stat while the Human Transcendent gives 6 points of stats on top of the +50 Hp.

But the Human Rogue has been greyed out, and this can only mean one thing.

'So anything that the ones before me bought becomes unavailable, and it will probably reset after this Pershala Merchant got teleported away', Pati thought in thought.

Shaking his head, his eyes then fixated on the Human Transcendent race, 'If I buy this race then I can just focus my Chaos into a specific stat while other stat will increase automatically, with the Brain Eater class I will not be short of Chaos so this one is the best-suited one for me'

Since the Brain Eater Class allows him to steal others' Chaos, then Chaos will not be a problem.

Pati then decided to click on the Human Transcendent race before confirmation messages from the system appears in his vision,

[Are you sure want to buy Human Transcendent race for 15 Black Coins?]

[Yes or No]

Without a doubt, he clicks on the yes before another message appears.

[Please pay the appropriate amount to the Pershala Merchant to complete the purchase]

Just as the last message from the system appears, the Pershala Merchant stretches its hand that doesn't have fingers but black claws instead. Pati takes exactly 15 Black Coins before putting them in the Pershala Merchant's hand.

"Thank you for your purchase", he said before the black coins disappears.

[Sucessfully bought the Human Transcendent race!]

[Race Evolution Quest- Human Transcendent]

In order to evolve into the Human Transcendent race, you need to finish the listed tasks below. After finishing the tasks your bloodline will automatically evolve into the desired race.

Kill 2 Level 30 or above Brawler: 0/2

Kill 2 Level 30 or above Runner: 0/2

Kill 2 level 30 or above Tanker: 0/2

Upon seeing this, Pati can't help but frown, 'I thought it will be instant... well, whatever'

After buying the Human Transcendent race, Pati shifted the store before he curiously open the class section where he saw a bunch of regular classes with the world novice on the front. Novice Healer, Novice Rogue, Novice Warrior, Novice Berserker, and the other generic ones.

But Pati is really interested in the Novice Mage class, who doesn't want to use spells and that sort.

Then again he doesn't really know what Mages used during their spell chanting, normally there will be energy called mana in the games he played but after experiencing this hellish world he severely doubts it.

'Probably it will use Chaos, and that will increase my expenditure if I become a mage', he thought.

When he was about to change sections again he suddenly landed his eyes on the bottom-most class, it's called Novice Crafter which from the name should be a blacksmith or something of that sort.

During the last two days, his weapon snapped a couple of times.

Although there is a weapon section that he intends to buy for him to use, there's no doubt there are Zombies strong enough to break the weapon eventually. The huge bird Zombie for example.

So this Novice Crafter class piqued his interest instantly.

But seeing the cost of the Novice Crafter made Pati hesitate, it cost him 20 Black Coins to buy.

Thanks to the black coins he robbed from the couple he met before, he got 55 Black coins which decrease to 40 Black Coins after purchasing the Human Transcendent race. 20 Black coins mean that he will need to spend half of his money.

'Let's not be hasty, check the others first before purchasing', Pati thought to clear his mind.

After deciding to check the others, Pati went to the thing that he needed the most right now. A weapon is pretty scarce and easy to break in this current setting, so he needs a weapon that is very sturdy and sharp.

Preferably a traditional weapon since guns need bullets, and it's very inconvenient.

Say that he will fight hundreds upon hundreds of Zombies after leaving the Pershala Merchant, then no matter how powerful a bullet penetrative power is there is so much one bullet can kill.

Maybe if he got a heavy weapon such as an RPG then he might use it to fight big Zombies.

But then again where would he put a big weapon such as the RPG, and should he really carry it around despite it weighing hundreds of pounds? There's no way that's happening.

With the 20 Black Coins budget in mind, Pati opens the weapon section.

Upon opening the weapon section many types of weapons ranging from modern weapons such as guns with enhanced bullets to traditional weapons such as swords, spears, or even scythes appear in front of him.

Filtering out the modern weapons, Pati scans the available traditional weapons.

Most of the traditional weapons are weapons made using different kinds of Zombie parts which increases their durability, all of them raise strength stat or even other stats.

Some are more expensive than others depending on how much the stat points raised.

Pati scrolls through the weapon section before he falls in love with a sword, it's not just a sword but its sharp edge is covered with rigid teeth that are gruesome to even think of slashing at someone. It's a meat grinder guaranteeing each attack takes a huge chunk of flesh.

His eyes then landed on the cost and finds it cost a measly 10 Black coins.

'Okay that's a good sword, now let's check on skills that I can buy', Pati thought before he changed the section and browse the racial skill section which surprisingly was not like what he expected.

All of the skills inside the racial skill section are passive skills.

These passive skills are different fighting styles that he can learn, he can even see boxing, taekwondo master, sword master, gun master, and other fighting styles that a person can learn.

Upon seeing these fighting styles, Pati's eyes lit up in excitement.

Although his power that already reached an inhuman level, he can only dodge and swing his sword without any technique behind them. It gets the job done but it's not efficient, he got easily tired from moving sluggishly.

The world before is a peaceful place, he never even experience a real fight to the death.

But now everything that moves tries to kill him, every day becomes a battle for survival and he needs to learn some fighting styles that are meant to kill people or Zombies quickly, 'Martial Arts is a no-go, they're meant to hurt humans not Zombies'

Since the Zombies don't even feel hurt from getting their bodies broken, regular martial arts will not do him any good especially since they are mostly meant to hurt not kill.

Even if they are made to kill, they are made to kill people only not Zombies.

With that in mind, Pati looks through the options before he finally finds what he was looking for.

[Street Fighter Champion, Upper First Circle Passive Skill - 10 Black Coins]

Learning this passive skill will alter your body and mind to become a Street Fighter Champion. Every limb of your body will turn into a weapon and any tool in your hands becomes deadlier as any strike is meant to kill. Bloodied hands are a regularity, and fear of death will no longer be a hindrance as your mindset is forged with 10 years of only fighting to the death.

Although he knows that this is still some sort of martial art, the fear of death grips him every time he fights Zombies even until now. He tries to suppress it but the fear is still there.

Overcoming this will be a huge benefit, and Pati can't help but smile wickedly.

'Even though it's a martial art, the overcoming the fear of death part is very appealing. I'm surprised the fuckers before me didn't buy this passive skill...'
