Chereads / SIGMA: The Rise of a New Era / Chapter 58 - Fun day

Chapter 58 - Fun day

Ryan would have explained things to his father in further detail, if he didn't get a call from someone at that very second. Pulling out his phone and seeing the number, he paused all the thoughts running in his mind right at that moment and turned towards his room, gesturing that there was something important he needed to deal with, on the basis of priority.

And the moment he entered his room, he made sure that no one else was present there, as right now, he definitely couldn't behold the sight of any of the lower rank servants present in front of him.

Only after making sure that no one was there or anywhere within the audible range, he finally picked the call after the first call had been dropped.

"Alpha, have I made some mistake that you were not picking the call? If-"

"Cut to the chase Adrin, tell me, what is it? What's the reason for which you have called me, even after my clear instructions that you aren't supposed to call me on my number."

Ryan interrupted the apologetic rambling of this voice in the middle, and spit out the fire he had been experiencing in his guts since he had read the number on his dial pad. When he finally stopped after completing his fiery statements, Adrin replied,

"As you said, I have managed everything according to your words. She will-"

Cringing at the blatant bluntness of this man, Ryan took a deep breath to control his frustration and said in a chastising tone;

"Shhhh! You never knew this, it never happened and no one asked you to do it. Understood?"

"Understood Alpha."

Satisfied by his response, Ryan continued;

"Good! Go look in your backyard, there is a new car standing over there, which you have earned by helping Nora, okay?"

"Okay… thank you, Alpha. Thank you."

The excitement was audible across the phone, crossing all the distance, but once again, Ryan was not in the mood to entertain any excitement. So he quickly disconnected the call without saying and threw his body diagonally on the bed, murmuring;

"Tomorrow! Tomorrow is going to be fun, and very much so for me, Princess."

The knock on the door made it obvious that she didn't have any more alone time to contemplate her decisions and actions. Valerie was a little reluctant to admit this, and dragging her body, she somehow managed to get to the door. The weight of the guilt was making her shoulders so tired with their presence, that she was not able to feel anything there, and her whole body was turning numb slowly.

But she knew she had no cure for this illness of hers, and she really couldn't do anything to feel alright. So it would be better for her to just open the door, even though she was not in the mood to answer the expected chirpy questions of any girl of the nearby dorms, like, "Why were you Alpha David?", "OMG! Do you know Alpha David personally?", "Was he really helping you?", or "Can you introduce me to him?"

All these questions had always made her feel sick to her stomach whenever she had heard them regarding Louis, because befriending him was not a decision she had made by scheming or deliberate, farsighted planning. It was just like they had become good friends who always had respect for each other, and helped each other with tiny, mundane things.

But she had never been able to leave these questions and the accompanying allegations, behind, and now, when she had been seen with David once again, she knew that there was going to be another blunder.

As she was engrossed in all these thoughts, she didn't even realise when her hands had reached out to the door knob to open the door, leaving some space for Romera to enter. And she remained in this daze until her words knocked against her ears and asked for her presence.

"Valerie! Are you here ? Are you listening to me? I am here to talk to you."

"Um… ye… yes ma'am."

Valerie sputtered, suddenly snapping out and realising how lost she was till now.

This is when she heard another command and complied.

"Okay then! Shut the door and come here."

Romera walked towards the bed, after commanding her and sat on the chair placed by the bedside, waiting for Valerie to come.

There were many questions that she had in her mind, and Nora's eyes had always tried to answer them, but she had never been able to decipher it. And even when she was at the verge of finally understanding at least one of these answers, all this chaos had happened.

Despite everything she was feeling personally, she was the warden of the girls' dormitories, and teaching the difference between right and wrong to every student there was her duty.

And with this thought, she looked at Valerie who was standing by her side. She gestured for her to sit on her bed, and cleared her throat before speaking.

"Valerie! May I know why you found it appropriate to act in that way earlier? Because as far as I know you, you are not a person who would really get so outrageous just because she is going through the feeling of something being snatched out of her hands. And trust me, when I say you can not do that, I know exactly why you can't as well! Then tell me, what was the problem?"

"I don't know… Ma'am -"

"It's Romera for you Valerie, the same Romera who used to be a younger sister to your mother, and trust me, I still remember my promise to her. But to fulfill that promise, I first need to know, what had happened to you?"

Feeling so disoriented and yet relieved that she had the chance to express her side, Valerie's words came out as if a dam had been opened.

"I don't know, I really don't know! It was like, I was fearing my home getting snatched away from me, leaving me all alone in this world once again.

But then, the very next moment, I suddenly become rebellious, as if my mind was not in my control anymore. I knew what I was doing was wrong… what I was saying was completely false, I never wanted to hurt Alpha Nora - I would never dare to hurt her. But everything just went on, as if I was not in my own control anymore, and someone else… someone else was making sure of my every movement- every act."

This prompted Romera to ask her the next question,

"Had you taken before anything before it all started, like some medicine or-"

Shaking her head from left to right, Valerie responded,

"No! I was in the dorm the whole day, and I just drank water that day."
