The future is eminent but at the same time unknown as the present determines the future. Life is in a sequel as different actions bring about different results. The concept of Destiny and Fate revolves around the future, to show how important it is. But what if you could just defy all these inevitable concepts and laws? What if one could take a peek at the future, to see what'll happen? Wouldn't life be smoother and easier?
Time travel, the process of moving between certain points in time. Imagine you could travel into and fro the future and the past, wouldn't that be incredible?
For instance, you were at an interview and the interviewer was so hot you wanted to hit on her, naturally, you wouldn't dare, but with time travel, you could go into a certain point in time where at that moment, you could see the consequence of your actions and maybe, just maybe, the interviewer might actually be what you don't think she is, in disguise.
Time travel might be great, just as that, but it is extremely dangerous. The chain or sequence of time is known as ' The Timeline' and jumping from one point to another may disrupt the Timeline itself. Traveling back in time would definitely change even the slightest details in the future, while traveling to the future may lead to instant death. Traversing to a certain point in time in the past, is more safe because, you'd know what time, year and what place to travel to, however, a slight change could lead to a different timeline, causing a different future. In illustration, traveling to the past to kill a person would guarantee a future where such person's existence would be erased. Meaning, a person might be alive in the present time, however, if a time traveler kills them in their past, they cease to exist and other people forget about their existence in the present timeline.
Although, time traveling to the future seems harmless, it is the most dangerous. Several Sci-fi movies and light novels do portray how time traveling to the future had saved the present. Although, I do not know much about time travel, but logically, a timeline in the future should be different as the prediction of the future timeline is generally impossible and traveling into such future may lead to death. Traveling to a point in time where one stands in front of a truck or when one was in danger would lead to death and one couldn't travel back in time once dead in the future, thus sealing one's fate. Yes, time travel is only being kept in line and limited by concepts like death and existence (life) which could be termed as 'Record'. Record is more like the total sum of existence or life through time and altering it by traversing the Timeline will only bring about negative effects.
Being asked about such topic was only natural, however, that person knew my name? That was enough to scare the heck out of me as I broke into a cold sweat with my eyes staring widely at the man sitting beside me as my jaw was widely ajar and my whole being slightly leaning backwards subconsciously in fear. I wasn't surprised at the question, I was surprised when the man said my name and my brain just couldn't help but connect the dots automatically.
'He's a Time traveler!!!!'
'But what if he is an acquaintance or a spy, he definitely couldn't be a Time traveler, and if he was, why me?' I thought rationally and concluded that it wasn't possible, and if it was, why would he come to me, of all people on Earth?
"H- wh-, how~?"
"How do I know your name?"
"Wouldn't it be a shame if I didn't know my own name?"
At this point, I almost sullied my pants. Looking closely at the middle aged man seemingly in his 40s, his dark hair was tied as his bearded face looked similar to mine and I was sure I would definitely look like this if I was in my 40s.
'Don't tell me!! '
In the past, great scientists had pronounced time travel an almost impossible feat. However, shortly after the invention of Quantum devices, in 3497, a scientist had exploited the minimal chances and had introduced CRONOS 9, a hypothetical project on the possibility of time travel. He proved that a time machine that enhances traversing through Timelines could be built using Quantum physics. The Universal League of Scientists (ULOS) convinced, joined in this project and supported it, however, till now, it hasn't been successfully implemented as it was still being observed and tested.
"December 21st, Year 3500. The world ended." my older self said calmly as he stared in a daze at a kid exhibiting his invention of a foldable flying board. My thoughts were disrupted and I looked at him again, in utter shock. Could you give me a moment to catch my breath? But alas, he only continued:
"It was my second time in space, we were sent on an exploration when .....Earth died!" different emotion could be seen on his face. Pain, stress, defeat, anger, fear, all in a turmoil.
"Oxygen ran out suddenly.... not even the world 'herself' knew what hit it.....Everyone else..." his voice faded in the end and he went silent. When it seemed like he would not speak again;
"We built a Time machine, from the theories of Yuri Jericho.... so, here I Am." he said before going silent again.
"Fate is really a bitch... "
"Arriving in the past, I came to this park, my.... our.... favorite place that I had so missed, hoping to enjoy the peace before going..... But then, I knew you.....we, would be here." he said as he smiled bitterly and looked at me with a slightly strange expression overwhelmed by sadness.
"I don't have much time left....." his gaze changed into a serious one and he leaned closer to me to speak some words into my ears. I could only listen to him in silence as I open my mouth widely and at times exclaimed in shock as he spoke before he disintegrated into nothingness, right in my presence. I almost lost my balance as it was all too much to handle but I remembered his words and could only clench my fist in determination as the 'fate' of humanity was now in my hands and I wouldn't let it go.
