Chapter 4 - Vetta Montagne

It has been a few days since their departure from Enarol to Vetta Montagne. They had just reached the foot of the Wishing Mountain, Vœux. The Wishing Mountain wasn't nearly tall compared to its surrounding mountains. But it was very wide in size. It gained its title because it was the only mountain that contained lush greens in the misty mountains. People described the forests and the vast vegetation as the mountain's gift and last farewell to the brave explorers who dared pass the "wide gates" of the misty mountains. It was as if the mountain gave its best wishes and made them give their vows in return -- hence its name. Jed and his followers set foot inside the misty mountains just after taking a break on Mount. Vœux. They have now crossed the "wide gates."

A few weeks after departure, Jed and his team have reached the foothills of Vetta Montagne. It wasn't as cold as they expected it to be. It was conspicuous that with great heights, the cold wasn't there to greet them. Jed took this as a sign.

Officially a month after departure, they have reached a small plateau beside the summit of Vetta Montagne. It wasn't as hard as they thought it would've been. While Jed's followers stayed on the plateau, Jed went to prepare a small metallic platform he could use to stand on. His followers tried to stop him and let them do it instead, but Jed disguised the metallic platform as a measuring apparatus and argued that the technology required to set up the measuring instruments for research data was of high confidentiality, and he could not let anyone else set it up except for him only. Beatrice and her companions were silenced and just let the prince do what he desired -- it was no doubt that the prince before them was the greatest mage to have existed.

Ever since they reached halfway through the mountain, the passage of time felt weird. Beatrice wondered how they had not yet died of cold or wind? Why had her companions felt the passage of time so different from each other? No fatigue, hunger, or restlessness. It was as if they had entered a chaotic space.
