Chapter 7 - Beloved of God

"The wind feels nice today, doesn't it?" Jed tried to start small talk with the servant. He's been feeling a little tense since walking with the servant. In response to Jed, the servant went and slashed an ever so tiny portion of his neck's skin. Jed stood shocked. The witch had killed all the guards around them in an instant -- this was the moment when Jed knew the witch in front of him was the greatest and most powerful witch to have ever lived. Maybe this was the reason she was able to sneak in so easily. As he turned shakingly and slowly, the witch that had come out of the servant said: "perhaps it might be... your last time."

This witch that mixed her blood Jed was the very last witch to exist. The witch's name was Kyla, the Meningeal Witch, Protector of the Minds. To ensure the witch's lineage, she had to transform a powerful royal into a witch. She snuck away and disguised as a servant in the castle. When she heard the king's plan, she saw her plan coming to fruition. It takes a blow so heavy -- that an unwanted part of themselves starts to form -- to the heart and the blood of a powerful witch to transform a royal. She now only needed to wait for this blow to strike his heart. The witch's time was naught, and she was on the verge of death. She had no time to waste, so she quickly fled the castle in search of something else.

As Jed entered the throne room, he was greeted by his father's angered face. Jed immediately knew something was up. He tried to ask a question to his father but was quickly silenced. The king told Jed that everything that he would have inherited had been moved to his younger brother Zed. He was baffled in disbelief, not knowing why his father would be so unreasonable and why he was doing this. Jed was soon dismissed. But just before Jed left the throne room, his father softly but painfully told him: that he may have fulfilled his duties as the crown prince, but he, however, had not fulfilled his duty as his son. Hearing this, Jed stopped in his tracks, eyes widened open with anger. Now he knows why his father had done this. He was deep in thought: how could he not know of this sooner, and why couldn't his father accept him just the way he is? Before sprinting through the castle halls, he passed his little brother Zed.

Zed was confused as to why his brother was sprinting through while on the verge of tears. Looking for answers, Zed entered the throne room and was told of everything that happened while his brother was there. Without a second to lose, Zed quickly chased after his older brother to try to apologize to him. After looking everywhere in the castle, He finally found his big brother. Feeling guilty for the misfortune that befell his brother, Zed yelled his apology to his brother while running toward him in an attempt to give him a hug. But unbeknownst to him, Jed's mind had gone corrupted from the witch's blood. Jed had subconsciously conjured a powerful fireball from his hands and hit his little brother in the chest. Jed saw his brother's face of shock and sadness, wondering why his big brother, who he looked up to, did this to him, and Jed quickly realized what he had done. The burning sensation of the fire felt like a thousand hot needles stabbing through Zed's entire body, as his cries of pain were loud to the eyes yet silent to the ears. Zed's calls for his big brother for help were cut short as his entire being disintegrated from existence. They were separated for so long, yet days after they had met once again, he'll have to say goodbye next. Just this time, there was no chance of him ever coming back. His last words were: "Help me, big brother… ."

Jed screamed of agony and pain, louder than the castle horns were heard. Jed fell to his knees as he tried to grab hold of his disintegrating brother. Tears that fell from his eyes, and apologies that leaked from his mouth, weren't enough to bring his brother back. Jed was angered, yes. He complained about why life was unfair to him. Why could he not live an extraordinary life with his beloved? For all of his life, he had been looked upon as a prodigy. He was the most powerful mage to ever exist. He was the closest to God. It was weird, even to himself. If he was not to be the heir, it should've been okay for Jed, as his brother was technically already older than him. He couldn't believe that he was that naive to be able to kill a person, nevertheless his brother. There were castle guards incoming. As he saw them draw in closer, Jed fled the castle.

Jed, who felt Blane would surely help him, fled to Blane's house. Jed was on the second floor when he was suddenly stabbed in his heart. It was Blane who had stabbed him. To Jed's eyes, there were many people who stood there and stabbed him — even though it was only Blane that stood there. Did Blane let an assassin from another land in his house? He was not loved by the world, and neither did God. Why did he do that? Was Blane's plan to use their connection to brutally assassinate Jed? Thoughts of such went through Jed's mind, and as he lay down on the wooden floor, he was stabbed multiple times. Normally, as his life passes through his eyes, consumed by anger and sadness, Jed would've died of regret. But that day wasn't ordinary. With all his fury and pain trying to keep him alive, Jed has now started to become a witch. His body floated in the air, and with black magic surrounding him, he unleashed a powerful shockwave that stopped Blane's heart. Jed stood there laughing at the white-haired man, who quickly fell to his knees and lay dead.

Blane was cleaning when an egregious witch appeared before him. It was the same witch that had disguised as a servant in the castle. While she tried to turn him to a witch right then and there, he didn't. The witch had greatly underestimated him. To the witch's knowledge, only royals of the Enarol family that had unlocked their gifted magic needed a special condition to turn them into witches, but the boy before her was different. He was an outsider from another universe where their beings were slightly different from each other. The witch poured massive amounts of her blood to corrupt his mind instead.

Angrily, Jed hunted outside the kingdom walls. He was trying to find a new body. A body that doesn't detest seeing. On the outskirts of the forest, a wedding was happening. The bride was about to kiss the groom when Jed attacked them. The groom was just able to push the bride aside at the cost of his own life. The bride, distracted over her soon-to-be husband's death, was still caught by Jed. As the bride's face showed her distraught for wasting her soon-to-be husband's sacrifice, her young daughter -- who was the main reason they were about to be married -- ran trying to save her mother but was instead scratched on her neck. Jed may have wanted to take the form of the bride solely because she was a beautiful woman. Something that if Jed was, his father would have approved of him loving Blane. He wouldn't have become a witch. The bride's daughter turned into a witch. This newly-born witch will soon be known as Samantha, the Witch of Shadows. Samantha may have wanted to never be attacked like how Jed managed to scratch her, so she took the shadows for her power as a witch.

The Beloved of God has now been reborn into a more beautiful yet somehow disgusting form.
