Chapter 4 - Oh, my God

Everyone stopped after hearing the commotion and some of the employees who were in Veer's team saw everything. They all were thunderstruck after witnessing all this. Other people came and started whispering to each other, 'What the hell she is doing, doesn't she know who Mr Veer is?' someone was saying in the group.

'Isn't she the one who came for the interview?' Another one said.

'Oh, yes you are right. She is the one.'

' Hahaha, Now there is no way she will get the job and surely will be kicked out right now,' Someone laughed out loud.

The girl heard their conversation and realised what she has done.

'What the hell.....,' She was dumbstruck, she needed this job so badly. She looked up and saw the face of that man whom she had slapped just now. 'Oh no,' now she recognised the face, he was the new CEO of this company. He was all over the news recently.

The man was glaring at her, " Oh my God, I am so sorry sir," She cried out.

What should she do, her mind went blank. There is no way she will get the job now. What would she tell her father, Her father's business isn't going well and they have to pay the rent of the place where her father runs a small restaurant. This job was their last hope to pay the rent on time, otherwise, the owner of the place will kick them out.

However, she has no words to cover up what she has done. She knows she can't do anything to make things right. She just lowered her head and waited to get this all over.

"Sir, are you okay," Someone asked Veer.

Veer looked at the man and nodded his head. He left without saying a word to the girl. His team members followed him, and the remaining people also took off, No one stayed there to console the girl.

When Veer reached his office, " Get me the list of the candidates who came for the interview," he ordered one of the employees.

The employee immediately complied with the order and showed the list to Veer. He searched for her on the list, there she was, black hair, wheat- colour-skin and a white -colour- shirt. Her name was Nandini. "Nandini," he said her name in a whisper, it was a strange feeling, how her name is lingering on his lips.

Taking his time, he read her basic information, she had completed her master's in computer applications from Delhi university.

The employee saw his interest in her information, he said, " She is the best candidate for the position, however, what happened in the restroom....." he trailed off.

"Hire her."

"What sir?" the employee was astounded, he thought he heard something wrong.

"I said, hire her," Veer felt frustrated at the moment.

"But sir"

"Do you have any problem," Veer yelled at the employee.

"No sir," the employee got so scared of Veer, he picked up the list from the table and ran out of the room as if a tiger was chasing after him.

Veer put his hand on his forehead and sat down on the chair. 'Who is she?' he thought. If he wants to know her, he has to keep her by his side.

Nandini came out of the company's building. How can she be so unfortunate, to fight with the CEO of the company on the day of the interview? Tears were rolling down her face. She was cursing her fate.

Her phone rang, she didn't need to see who it is, she knew it will be her father, she couldn't make herself pick up the call. Still, when the phone didn't stop buzzing, she picked up the call.

"Hello, sweetie," A cheerful voice from her father came from the other end.

"Dad," Nandini said in a muffled voice.

"What happen kiddo?" her father asked anxiously.

"Nothing dad," It was hard for her but she tried to control her tears.

"Then why are you crying," her father felt distressed, he can tell something was wrong with her daughter.

"What dad? What are you saying? It's noisy here, I can't hear you clearly," She said and hung up the call.

The street was indeed hustling and bustling. Still, she can hear everything clearly on the phone. She made this lame excuse just because she didn't want to talk about what happened earlier.

It was hard for her to tell her father that she lost this opportunity because of something insignificant like this.

Her father had a hunch, that she didn't get the job and she was crying because of that. 'Oh, my stupid little girl, did I put a lot of pressure on her? he wondered.

Nandini was walking on the street, she bought a newspaper from a vendor on the side of the road and then she went to a cafe nearby.

"One cold coffee, please," she ordered at the counter and sat on the vacant table near the entrance door of the cafe.

A fair skin, blond- hair-girl came, "here is your coffee ma'am," she put the cup on the table and smiled at Nandini.

"Thank you," she smiled back.

The waitress left her with her coffee and a newspaper in hand. Nandini started searching for jobs frantically, she encircled all the jobs in the newspaper, she was eligible for. It wouldn't be hard for her to get a job with a master's degree she has but to get a job in Bhatia enterprises is a lifetime opportunity and she had lost the chance. However, it's not the time to dwell on it, she can't be disheartened for long. She has to help her father and she will do it by any means. There is no doubt about it.

She gulped down her coffee, picked up her newspaper and went out of the cafe.

She was preparing a plan for the next day in her mind when all of a sudden, her phone rang again.

She was stunned for a moment because of the sudden sound, however, when she looked at the screen of the phone, it was an unknown number.

"Hello?"

"Hello, ma'am am I speaking to Ms Nandini?" the other person asked.

"Yes, how can I help you?"

"Ma'am I am calling from Bhatia enterprises. I want to inform you that you are selected for the position of Secretary. You can come tomorrow to sign the contract." The man told her everything.

"What?" Nandini was flabbergasted after hearing all of this, she can't trust her ears. 'Is this true or is it her imagination ' she wondered.
