Chapter 5 - It's the right choice

Nandini was in a daze, she didn't know how she reached her home. She has a two-storey house and a garden on the front side. Although the structure of the house was old, it gives a sense of Serenity. The garden was very beautiful, Nandini and her father had been taking good care of it. There were lilies, roses, daisies and some other kinds of flowers.

She walked passed the garden but she wasn't in the mood to enjoy the beauty of it. She opened the front door of her house and walked toward the drawing room. She lives with her father, her mother died when Nandini was very young, maybe Four or five years old. Sometimes she misses her mother, however, she knows if she tells her father, he will be sad to know that, because he loves Nandini's mother so much. So, they always avoid talking about her mother. She entered the drawing room and saw her father sitting on the couch waiting for her patiently. It looked like he was having his coffee, he took a sip from his coffee mug. At that moment, he noticed his daughter, who was staring at him. Her father was a pure definition of a tall-dark-handsome-man. Nandini got her good looks from him.

"What took you so long?" He asked Nandini worriedly.

"Sorry, dad, I got stuck in the traffic, I wanted to inform you but my phone's battery was dead," she replied meekly.

"It's okay kiddo, come here," her father said and gestured for her to sit near him on the couch.

She complied the same, " Are you okay?" he continued, " I know it is hard for you but it's okay kiddo, you don't have to push yourself. We will find a solution together."

She nodded in agreement, "Dad, I have something to tell you," she said.

"What is it?"

She hugged her father tightly, " I got the job," she whispered in his ear with excitement.

Her father was surprised, hearing this, " Then why were you crying earlier on the phone."

"Oh dad, that's a long story, but long story short, there was a misunderstanding and I thought I wouldn't be able to get the job but to my surprise, they called me and informed me, that I got the job and should come to the company to sign the contract."

"Seriously? wow, that will be great. Then why are you looking worried?" Her father was happy after hearing this news. However, he was more concerned about his daughter. He is the only person who can see through her, she always tries to hide her true emotions. It wasn't easy for anyone to get through to her.

"I don't know dad, I have a weird feeling about it," she said.

'It is strange, how can they give a job to a person who had slapped their CEO?' She was thinking but didn't tell her father the actual reason for her worries.

"If you have some issues you shouldn't accept the job."

"But dad, what about the rent?"

"You don't have to worry about that, I will manage everything with Raj. Okay?" He continued, " You just have to focus on yourself and do what your heart says."

Nandini didn't know what should she do, It was a difficult decision to make. It can shake her life. She knows that it's a great opportunity, however, she felt something fishy about it too.

Nandini and her father had their dinner quietly. Her father knew she is in a dilemma, So, he didn't disturb her line of thought and gave her the space, she needed.

At night, Nandini was having a hard time falling asleep, After what happened in the company. She doesn't want to go there again, 'Dad is right, we can handle it with uncle Raj and there will be another opportunity for me for sure. There is nothing to be worried about.' She pep-talked herself and decided what she will do.

The next morning she got out of bed, she looked for the water bottle. She was feeling thirsty, so, she went to the kitchen.

" We have to do something," Her father was saying, to a person in front of him. They both had coffee mugs in their hands and a slight frown on their faces.

The other man was the definition of stunning, he was around 50 but didn't look according to age.

Many girls can have a crush on him, after just one glance.

But for Nandini, this person was a father figure. It is Raj, her father and Raj were partners and neighbours for the last 18 years.

Raj lives with her wife Nisha, and their house was across the road from Nandini's house.

They have no kids, so, they treat Nandini as their kid. Nisha's lower body was paralysed, she can't go anywhere without her wheelchair. That's why the maximum time she stays in the house alone.

The couple loves each other very much, but there is something, which has tormented them for a long time. However, nobody knows about it, not even her father.

" I know Sudhir and I am trying to do my best. Still, the owner of the place isn't listening, you know how much greedy he is. Now he is saying we have to buy the place," He continued, " He is threatening me if we didn't buy it, he will sell it to someone else."

"Can't we get a loan??" Sudhir suggested.

"I was thinking about it too, so I asked someone, and he told me that the bank will ask us about our property. Tell me do you have that many assets?"

Sudhir lowered his head, he also knew it was going to be hard to convince their landlord but he didn't want to lose all hopes.

" You are right Raj, but there must be something we can do. You know, I pushed Nandini to get the job and I am feeling guilty about it. I can't push her further If she doesn't want to go, I won't, tell her to go."

"Why? what happened? she was so excited yesterday, before going to the company "

"I don't know, she didn't tell me anything particular. But I can tell something wrong had happened with her yesterday."

"Then don't tell her anything, we will find a solution together."

Both of them didn't realise Nandini was eavesdropping. After hearing all of this, Nandini knew what she needs to do. It's complicated but it's the right choice, it's her time to do something for her father.
