In LOMM, every race had its innate abilities that players could upgrade with ability points. There wasn't any skill tree, so the only way how players could gain new abilities was from their races, training, quests and rare ability books.

'With my name, I can't afford to choose anything else except for fire affinity... Also, the wind will be a good addition to increase the power of my flames. Also, I will upgrade my breath with the rest of my points.'

Vesuvius confirmed his choice, finishing his character creation. The boxes vanished, leaving him only with darkness and nothing else around him.

'Is this limit of my imagination?'

Then a new box showed up, brightly shining in front of my eyes.

Vesuvius tried to move his leg, and it moved. A familiar urge returned to him, the urge to breathe. Filled with new enthusiasm, he punched with his arm forwards, hitting a hard surface. It didn't budge, so he punched it repeatedly until a cracking sound came from where he punched it.

Punching again, his arm broke through the shell, and dim light entered his egg. He quickly started to widen the hole with both of his arms while gasping for some air. Soon the hole was wide enough, so he promptly stuck his head through it.

A blinding light entered his eyes, causing him to squirm until he got used to it. Above him was a beautiful starry sky with a full moon. It wasn't very bright, but for his eyes that were used to the darkness, it took a while to get used to it. He finally breathed in some needed oxygen, giving him the energy to kick and flail with his limbs against a shell with a renewed vigour.

Finally, the shell broke, and he fell to the cold ground. He stumbled upon his four limbs and looked around. He and his egg were lying on massive boulders brought by a river that flowed from snow-covered mountains on the horizon. The whole mountain was familiar to him, but he couldn't tell why.

'So my egg was probably brought here by the river.'

Everything around him was looking so realistic that he started to question if it was only the creation of his mind.

'No... Wait, maybe my capsule broke, and this is some kind of malfunction...' He started to think about a new possibility, but he was interrupted as his stomach squirmed in hunger.

His gaze fell upon the shell that remained out of his egg, and he instinctively knew what he had to do. It felt like when one looked at a tasty-looking pizza.

'It is a common trope that dragons eat their eggshell after hatching...'

Vesuvius enthusiastically approached the shell, opened his mouth and bitten. A delicious taste filled his mouth, causing his eyes to open wide. He bit one more time, and all of his reason and thoughts vanished from his mind as he threw himself at the shell like a ravenous animal, devouring it whole.

His reason returned only when the whole shell vanished into his stomach, even though it was bigger than him.

'Ohhh, that felt so good.' then he quickly approached a part of the river with still water to look at his reflection.

There was a small dragon the size of a smaller motorbike. His scales were red with a metallic green lustre. From his head was growing a pair of short black horns. A pair of tiny black wings were folded on his back, and his meter-long tail was ending with a sharp-looking protrusion. All the way from his neck to his tail was growing a line of black spikes that looked sharp as knives. His reptilian eyes were of a golden colour. All four of his limbs ended in ten-centimetres long claws, and his lizard-like mouth was filled with deadly-looking canines.

'Cool, I am really a dragon!!!'

Strong tiredness hit him out of nowhere, causing him to stumble. He instinctively knew that no predator would dare to approach a site near his egg filled with a smell of a dragon. He closed his eyes and fell asleep.
