Emily
It's the end of the month, so that can only mean one thing! That's right! Theo's Hunters Association ceremony. I'm so happy for him! I bet he's nervous and excited at the same time. I've been checking in on him every once in a while, and he and his roommate are doing well. Theo already picked out a good suit to wear for the ceremony. It's a black-tie event, so everything is all fancy and elegant.
Right now, Aunt Cheryl and I are getting ready. We're going to teleport to Theo's dorm and leave together. I'm wearing a jade-colored Princess Scoop Neck Asymmetrical Satin dress with black lace decorated along the edges. To top it off, I'm wearing silver laces heels. What can I say, silver has really grown on me. And of course, I'm wearing my choker. I never take it off.
Meanwhile, Aunt Cheryl is wearing an emerald green dress that hugs her curves. Around her waist is the floor-length silk that gives her an elegant queen look. Like me, she's also wearing heels, but instead of lace, she's wearing a pair of black block heels, and her wedding ring is laced around her neck in a beautiful, gold chain.
Well, she is technically a queen...she just doesn't wear a crown.
After touching up our makeup, we teleport to the university. They have a special room where the ones who use teleportation can enter. That way, they can be checked off the list so as not to cause confusion. My aunt and I made our way out of the room and headed straight toward the ballroom. It was extremely beautiful. The chandeliers decorated the high ceiling as well as wall art that hung around it. The floor was so shiny, that I could see myself through it. My heels clicked against the shiny tile as searched for Theo.
He told me that the ceremony would start once the headmaster finished meeting with the representatives from each species, which is where Cheryl is. I wanted to catch up with him before it got too late. I finally spotted him talking with my parents. Excited, I scurried over to them. Engulfing them in a big hug. It's been ages since I've seen them.
"How are you, sweetie?" My mom asks, hugging me tightly.
"I'm good, mom, I've made a lot of progress," I smile up at her.
"Really, I want to hear all about it!"
Before mom and I left, I hugged Theo and Ian. I decided to catch up with Theo later since he looks like he wants to talk to Ian about something. He might want to get advice since Ian served in the Hunters Association.
Mom and I make our way outside to the balcony for some privacy. There, I tell her everything that's been going on, including the amore thing as well. At first, she was shocked but then became worried instead. I wouldn't blame her. Her daughter was rejected less than a year ago for being a witch, and now she's about to become a Lycan's amore. It's safe to say that worry is at the top of my list.
"Honey, are sure you're ok with that?" she asks, gently gripping my shoulders. Her worry was on full display in her eyes.
"I'm sure, mom," I say, placing my hands over hers. "I was freaking out at first, but then after talking with Aunt Cheryl, I realized that it would be worth it. If I get my heart broken again, then I get it broken. But, I don't want to live my life regretting not giving this Lycan a chance. I owe it to myself to at least see if they'll accept me for me. No one knows I'm the Magus heir, and I want to keep it that way until Cheryl says it's safe to do so. Then and only then will I tell them."
My mother sighed. "How did I raise such a stubborn, thick-headed, and strong girl?"
"I learned from the best," I grinned.
"I guess you did," she mumbled.
I was about to reply when I noticed something from the corner of my eye. From where I stood, I could see the ballroom, and I saw that everyone was looking nervous. I told mom about it, and she walked in front of me as we re-entered the ballroom. Her motherly instincts were in full effect.
When we walked in, there was a large gap in the center of the room. It was as if everyone moved away from that spot because it was cursed. I craned my neck to see what was happening when I got a glimpse of an emerald green dress.
Aunt Cheryl? Is she ok?
Looking beside her, I saw someone. A beautiful person with shoulder-length black hair and a small amount of stubble around his chin and above his pink lips. The top part of his hair was pushed back, probably by him running his hand through his hair.
I don't know why my heart is beating fast. I feel like it's going to burst, and I don't know why. Or...maybe I do.
The man takes in a deep breath, and he turns in the direction of the balcony. Our eyes lock, and I can see a pair of black eyes looking at me. My breath hitches and I'm instantly drawn to them. He begins to take long strides toward me. I want to move, but I'm frozen in my spot. My feet won't move, but my heart is beating like a drum.
My mom stands in front of me, but she is immediately pushed aside by the man's dominating aura. I snap out of it when I see my mother wincing. I try to go over to her, but a hand grabs my wrist. Shots of electricity explode throughout my body, and I shiver. I slowly turn my head to look into the man's black soulless eyes, only to find them a different color. Warm hazel eyes that remind me of...chocolate.
My mouth opens, but nothing comes out when he says it. The word I have been dreading but longing for at the same time.
"Amore."
