Zyair
"Zy!"
My eyes opened slowly to the sound of an annoying voice. Unfortunately, I know that voice. I squinted at the bright light in my study. I closed the curtains, but the bastard must've opened them.
"What do you want, Kyle?" I hissed, sitting up.
The smile on his face annoyed the hell out of me. His blue eyes showed mischief and his hair was in disarray. "You cranky cause you didn't get laid?" I smirked.
"Ha ha, very funny," he rolled his eyes. "But for your information, I'm cranky because we're supposed to visit the campus today. You know, for the ceremony."
"Oh, right," I muttered, getting to my feet.
Kyle continued his rambling about how I'm lazy and inconsiderate, but I know he's just pissed that his time with Macy was interrupted. I chuckled. Kyle and I are childhood friends. He was the son of one of the guards, and we bonded during our training sessions. We became as close as one could get. He's a Lycan too, so he was so happy to meet his amore, Macy, a human. I honestly thought she would be difficult. Considering humans know nothing about our world, I was proven wrong. She was more than eager to accept.
I only hope to find my amore. I just have to be patient.
After getting in the car, Pete drove Kyle, Macy, and me to the university. This school has a program for students who wish to enter the Hunters Association. Back in the day, the Hunters were enemies of all supernatural creatures. However, things changed over the years. The Hunters came to a treaty with the species in the form of an organization, the Hunters Association. A sort of police system for the supernatural world with each species having agents of its own.
Each year, they hold a ceremony to welcome the students who got accepted into the program, and representatives from each species must attend to show their support. And this year, the lucky Lycan is me. I have to go check out the school, so I know where to go for the ceremony. I have to give a blessing as well as sit on stage with the other representatives.
When we arrived at the campus, I noticed the hoards of students running around back and forth from their cars to the dormitories.
"Looks like it'll be a busy year. Huh, Zy," Kyle commented. Macy was sitting on his lap, her head in the crook of her neck. She's transitioning into a Lycan, so the toll it takes on her body is tremendous. You see, when a Lycan mates with a human or werewolf, they change into a Lycan. However, if they mate with a nymph, fairy, vampire, or any other supernatural being they do not change into a Lycan. I don't know why, but it is how the world works.
The car came to a stop when we arrived at the main building. It was in the center of the campus, and it was where all the freshmen were getting their information. The signs were a dead giveaway. After waking Macy, the three of us got out of the car. I told Pete to wait in the car because the meeting wouldn't take long. He nodded and stood by the vehicle.
On the way to the building, I smelled something. The smell was so intoxicating. It smelled like rose water. I know the smell because my mother has a bottle of it. I know she isn't here, so this smell must be...
"Amore," I whispered.
Macy and Kyle stopped. "Are you sure?" asked Macy.
I nodded. "Positive. She or he is here somewhere."
My eyes moved from student to student, hoping to find my amore. I tried tracing the beautiful scent, but I couldn't. The numerous scents from the students overwhelmed my nose.
"Dammit!" I growled.
I felt a hand on my shoulder. Turning with my fangs bare, I saw Kyle with a stoic expression on his face. "Listen, you need to calm down," he said calmly.
I took a deep breath and relaxed. My Lycan, however, remained active. He continued to search for the smell inside my mind.
"Now," Kyle continued. "This is the area with the freshmen, correct?"
I nodded.
"Exactly, which means whoever they are, they either attend the college or know someone who does. Either way, they will attend the ceremony. All students who are a part of the program are here today for early move-in."
"He's right," Macy added. "The chances of you seeing or smelling them again will be high. So, it's best if you calm down before you cause a scene."
They were right. All the students here today were a part of the program. The chance of me seeing or smelling them again would be high. I hated to admit it, but it looks like my amore will have to wait a bit longer. I had just found what every Lycan dreams of. My other half, my beloved is here somewhere. I wonder what they are like.
As the headmaster of the school showed me around the ballroom and explained what would happen during the ceremony, my mind wondered. I didn't care about the ceremony now. I cared about my amore. So many questions went through my mind. What's their favorite color? What's their favorite food? Were they a fairy? Vampire? Werewolf? It didn't matter what species they were. I would love them, and they would learn to love me. A Lycan's amore will feel the pull, but the choice is theirs.
Just the thought of it scared me. Me? Scared? Well, no matter, I would protect my amore. I would love them, and they would love me in return. If they were afraid of me, I would grovel until they trusted me. If they betrayed me, I would fight for their innocence. I was going to show my amore just how much they meant to me. Lycans may live forever, but we value the time we have with those who do not. I don't know who or what my amore is, but when I find them, I will hold on to them for as long as I live.
