The noise of people woke me up from my deep sleep. I get up from my bed and searched for the source of the noise that woke me up.
I got out of my room and went to the living room where I found my Nana sitting on the sofa there are at least ten people facing her and they were arguing so I didn't understand anything.
I approached them and sat on the vacant sofa next to Nana's chair. "Nana, what's going on?" I ask here because she is just quiet. She just told me to shut up and listen to whatever they were talking about.
"The deadline for the search is approaching," said a lady. "Well, we have to prepare for it," said a man in his mid 40's.
"But can't it be postponed first? There are many problems in our town, will we prioritize that over the town's problems?" Our captain replied.
I just now understood that they were meeting but I didn't understand anything. Searching? What search are they saying? I wanted to ask Nana but I saw her listening carefully to what they were talking about so I just kept quiet, maybe I'll ask later.
"But captain, the search has become routine and there are more attendees than last year because there are a lot of women stepping into their right age" against the old man who agreed with the majority.
The captain sighed and looked at Nana. "Sister Lorna, what is your opinion about this?" The captain asks my Nana. Nana smiled before answering. "There's nothing wrong with that captain if we search because they're right, it's our tradition and every year" Nana replied.
"But Sister Lorna, don't you have a grandchild? Will you let her join?" This is another question. "Captain, I can't do anything about that because my granddaughter is in her legal age already. Even if I want to object, I can't." Nana explained. I do not understand. What exactly is that search.
"It would be better if we just vote so that this problem will end. Just raise your hand to whoever opposes the celebration of the search and also to those who like it" was a suggestion that everyone agreed with. The captain sighed before proceeding to the polls.
The winner voted to continue the celebration and they bid a goodbye after that.
